Roster! (Updated Continually)
Below is a list of all current characters in Project: Rebirth. This list includes individuals who are currently members as well as some presumptive entries for characters who were members in beta who I assume wish to be re-inducted. This is intended to be an actively-maintained resource for everyone on the team.
Please post to this thread if you wish for me to make a specific change to the below list. If you wish to list an alt, please include only the alt you intend to go into the Project. (Remember: the Project only allows two characters per player, and may eventually be restricted to one, but I don't forsee this happening in the near future.) You can, of course, change your mind at any time.
Bold entries indicate a player's primary character, and the regular-font entry below that indicates that the character is an alt. A name in parentheses indicates the character a player is best known as. Officers are indicated by an asterisk.
Counting just primary characters, so far, we have:

Yeah, I know, I've been sort of close-lipped about this, as I haven't been sure myself until recently. That said, let me list the 7 characters I know I'm going to create on Day 1 and then I'll tell you which I think are likely to be in P:R
Here are my intended characters:
Helios: Fiery Aura/Super Strength(or Energy Melee)/Flight
Tanker. Astronaut turned living nuclear furnace turned superhero. My signature character from my M&M game who'll form a SG comprised of my RL friends...but would definitely still like to hook up with you guys sometime and RP. He's a very Superman-type figure.
Dr. Arkane: Dark/Dark/Teleportation Defender. Adrian Arkane is the self appointed Mystical Guardian of Earth. Also looking for some revenge on the Circle of Thorn,
who killed his father and mentor, Adam Arkane.
The Red Ronin: Katana/Regneration Scrapper. Actual ancient samurai cursed
to live forever when he failed to protect his master. His curse can only
be lifted by finding a new master to serve and doing so successfully. He
still searches to this day.
Steel Titan: Invulnerability/Super Strength (Medicine/Leaping...both?)
Tanker. Scientist whose nanobots gained sentience and decided to take up
residence inside him, for use as a fuel source....then decided to protect
their new home with some new metal that covered his body.
Syren (hopefully, or at least some better variation than Psy-Ren): Mind
Control/Empathy/Flight Controller. Mutant girl whose powers of telepathy
and telekinesis have been turned to protect those who are taken advantage of.
Some Greek Storm Goddess (help), formerly known as Tempestes: Storm
Summoning/Electric Blast/Flight Defender. A literal goddess who has
incarnated herself because she's disgusted with what a cesspool of violence
and crime and apathy the earth has become. Has taken it upon herself to
finally intervene....too bad she also gained some mortal frailties along
with her new body.
Sunflare, maybe....or Sunstar: Fire/Fire/Flight
Blaster. Mutant....haven't decided much about this one yet, except that
for a twist (and a bit of balance to my character roster) I might make her
female and have her be Sunstroke's little sister.
Out of those, I'm definitely intending for Dr. Arkane and Steel Titan to join the Project. And maybe Sunflare, as well, except that'd be 3 alts. Still, you guys are just about the only ones who'd get the in-joke. Edited by: Ardrikk II at: 4/24/04 11:05 am
The Slammer(Mutant Tanker, Invulnerability/Super Strength)
Slammer, as she was originally written, was my dark opposite. If there was a way I'd handle a situation, she'd do the opposite and usually involve violence in some way. The character is therapeutic when played as a driven, raging reaver, but not that much fun. More of a lone wolf character, you may see her around from time to time.
Mr. Mantis(Mutant Scrapper, Martial Arts/Super Reflexes)
My hero for the Hive(also on Virtue), he's a troubleshooter for hire who has come to Paragon for reasons of his own. Somewhat sardonic, he usually ends up playing the straight man for all the kooks in the Hive.
The Bogatyr(Magic Tanker, Battle Axe/Invulnerability)
My pulp hero, the cagey Russian monster-hunter who could give Black Atom a run for his money in the "tough old buzzard" sweepstakes. Not as big or as fast as he was in his younger days, but still a force to be reckoned with.
The Highwayman(Natural Blaster, Assault Rifle/Gadgets)
With the addition of Gadgets, I think I'll take Highwayman more down the route of the dashing trickster as opposed to dark avenger. If the Pistol and Detective powersets show up in the near future, I will be rebooting him if necessary.
El Gato(Science Scrapper, Claws/Super Reflexes)
You know him, you love him, he's that wacky Mexican wrestler who keeps referring to himself in the third person. Despite a disappointing encounter with dual-origin enhancements, the cat WILL come back though they thought he was a goner...

Dr. Nefarious(Technology Controller, Mind Control/Kinetics)
A bargain-basement Black Atom, Dr. Nefarious is a mad scientist with a yen to rule the world. But first, he must test his many psychokinetic theorems and refine them into powerful weapons of destruction. How better to do that then sign up as a "hero" and use the criminals of Paragon as his unwitting guinea pigs?

Well, let me fill in the blanks a bit.
Code Fenris, who will have an available name of that variation, will be Technology Controller Ice/Storm/Flight
Hive Queen is played by my wife, who may have a different name of that variation, and will be a Science Blaster Energy/Energy Flight
I'm planning on making an alt named Easy Ramirez for roleplay purposes which I'd like to have in the superteam. He'll be a Natural Blaster Assault Rifle/Devices and really isn't planned to be in missions of any sort so may not advance past tutorial.

Migraine is slated to have a Science origin. I picked Mutant for some reason when I first made him and it never made sense given his background. Unless of course you argued that the accident awoke some latent powers within him.
As far as my other alts, well, I won't be posting them until I see what I can cook up tomorrow.
Minor change
Just one tiny correction, Blue is a mutant, not science. Vomitting zombies really aren't his thing.

Here's mine....
Black Atom (Rad/Rad defender)
1940's/50's radioactive supervillain who went into a self imposed hibernation after a particularly stunning defeat. He resurfaced in the current day (statutes of limitations on his crimes having all expired) and with his impressive resources has formed a super team.
Neuroccultist (or Neuromage, Etherist, Neoccultist, Doctor Nod...whatever) A Storm/Mental Defender. An ex-Circle of Thorns coven leader who was expelled because he backed hybrid technological/magical methods to gain power. He tries to make up for the bad that the Thorns are doing. Enjoys beekeeping.
Emerald Empress (Spine/Regen scrapper)
The spirit of a jewel thief trapped in a miniature replica of an ancient sorceress. She's fighting crime to find the sorceress that imprisoned her and get her body back!
FireSmith (Fire/Fire Tanker)
Unit FireSmith is following his primary directives of fighting crime. He is fearless, sometimes quirky, and not everything he appears to be....

Hey, B.A., a quick note - you MIGHT get nerfed on "Emerald Empress," as that's the name of a longtime Legion of Superheroes villainess, although I really hope Cryptic isn't going to police names THAT heavily. Apparently, there's also a Thundergirl on some stupid Nikelodeon cartoon...

My characters
The Courier will probably be not making any more appearances. I mostly came up with him to just have a fun character to play for the last couple days of the beta. I didn't want to use any of the characters I was too attached to during the beta and then rebuild them after release. Chances are I'll be playing 2 characters (then about 50 more at some point with how I usually end up playing)
The Smock (Natural Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Scrapper) Really creative idea to pair up martial arts and relfexes for a natural scrapper. I bet no one has ever thought of this combo.
The Quiet Type (Mutant Force Field/Psychic Blast Defender) She's the cute one.
I'll have a story up at some point real soon. Hopefully tonight so it's actually done before launch. I'm going to take a guess no one will steal my names, but I didn't reserve them so I don't really know for sure.
I'm not attached to any particular concept, name, archetype or origin beyond Danger Ace at the moment. I'll try and update you all here if and when I fix on something.
Change of plans.
Slayde WILL be my Project character, at least the primary one, as I do have others planned. Magic Blaster, Fire/Fire, Flight + Teleport friend

The Blue Migraine - the classic cynical healer.
Army Man - A three foot tall, plastic army man on the outside. On the inside he carries the soul of a philosophical scientist. Science Tanker - Invulnerability/Energy Melee
Heliosphere - an alien from beyond the stars who has just recently crashed outside of Paragon. Natural Controller - Fire/Radiation
The Kinslayer - a possible member for Project: Redemption. The Kinslayer earned his title through obvious means (which I'll eventually get to writing and posting). Natural Scrapper - Broadsword/Invulnerability.

Here's my final list. Of course, some will be played much more than others.
1) Mysticka (Illusion/Empathy/Teleportation Controller). Small town wise woman in training turned flashy stage magician turned hero. I'll finish the story. Promise.
2) Mercurial (Martial Arts/Super Reflexes/Super Speed Scrapper). A one time track star and Olympic hopeful from Jamaica. After an experimental drug is slipped to her by a rival, she finds more speed than she ever wanted. So what's a girl to do but train up and hit the streets?
3) Galatine (Broadsword/Invulnerability/Superleap Scrapper). Taking her name from the Sword in the Stone of Arthurian legend, the one time scholar believes herself to be a modern Grail Knight seeking her king in Paragon City. Whether or not she really saw the Lady of the Lake or the Grail is up in the air, but *something* happened to her, that's for sure. (Will be starting an IC/RP group of misfits.)
4)Dark Harbinger (Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster). Samantha, former military woman, broken and disturbed after the invasion, comes home to find some comfort and solace with her twin sister. After the sister dies in a random mugging, Sam decides that her duty and job are not yet complete.
5)Gracie Gravity (Gravity control/Kinetics/Flight Controller). She was once a sidekick, but now her mentor is gone, a casualty of invasion. Now, she's out on her own, keeping her chin up and the thugs off the street.
6)Cold Comfort (Ice/Ice/Flight Blaster). Haven't quite got the story down on this one, except that this is one of those scientist/lab accident things. I found a look I really liked, then a name I loved, and decided it had to be. I blame the launch tests. I'm starting to get a feel for her, though.
That's the list. Given that I'm partial to Controllers, and that powerset in particular, you'll be seeing a lot of Sticky, I'm sure. But sometimes, it's nice to just thwack something repeatedly.

Fox is a natural controller/illusion/radiation/flight. I'll probably also pick up teleport (at least recall friend), and I'd like to take fitness if I can manage it.
Change in my P:R members
Hey, Thunder. Just wanted to let you know that, holding to the two alts in the Project max, I've decided to have Sunstar join P:R instead of Steel Titan. Though I love the RP potential of both, Sunstar *has* to be there with you guys as her whole RP and story arc are built around finding the members of Project: Rebirth who she thinks can help her find her brother, Sunstroke.
After all, he was a member of their team and most all of them know him....right?
Ha! Of course they don't, because she's from a different reality....Beta-Earth, if you will. *grin*
Anyway....if I ever get inspired to write something more than a bare set of facts bio, maybe I'll type something up in the Member Introduction section to clue you all in her backstory. But her in-game bio also does a good job of that.
Oh, and she's a Mutant Fire/Fire Blaster with Flight (someday).
Rimfire
I'm afraid I can get to my Danger Ace account, so he may need to be stricken from the roster. I hope that my new gun-toting Natural Blaster will be welcome, though. His name is Rimfire.
