Ruse... your help needed, some Serbs to...
I want to make a thread making some simple liguistic comparisons between Serbian proper, Macedonian proper, Bulgarian proper and the Torlak dialect of Sar Planina.
Grammatically I think it is similar to Bulgarian with Serbian words. I'm not trying to prove anything, but genuinely interested. Ruse can give us the Bulgarian version, I can give both Torlak and Macedonian versions and maybe another Serb or Serbs can give Serbian proper as I always screw up the tenses.
Ruse, can you translate the following for us...
1. The water is deep.
2. How much does this cost?
3. My name is John and I am Bulgarian/Serbian/Macedonian.
4. How many children attend that school?
5. Which is your favorite soccer team?
Again, these are just random phrases. I am genuinely interested in reading the differences.

Torlak Dialect of Sar Planina.
1. Vodata je dluboko.
2. Kolko kosta ova?
3. Imeto mi je Jovan, i ja sam Srbin
4. Kolko deca idev u toa skolo?
5. Za koj fudbalski tim navijas? (I can't say I know the word for "favorite" so I used "support" or "root for"). So it actually means "which team do you support".

Some of the variations are slight... just to clarify
Quote:
3. Moeto ime e Ivan i jas sum Makedonec.
You can say "Moje ime je Ivan i ja sam Makedonac" in Serbian. I originally said "Ime mi je...", but this is fine too.
Quote:5. Koj ti e najomileniot fudbalski tim.
I said "Koji ti je omiljeni fudbalski tim?" "Koji ti je najomiljeniji fudbalski tim?" is a variation of the same thing, although I hear the latter more often.
P.S. Omiljeni is the Serbian word for 'favourite', Sar. Najomiljeniji (the most favourite) may seem redundant in English, but its accepted in Serbian.
