Seia Comes
The town was alive and bustling in the heart of the Tower. There was a new chain of merchant wagons that had just rolled in, and women, children, and even some Asha'man were standing about, clamoring to see the new wares and get their fair share of the new trinkets. The loud bustle was enough to cover the sounds coming from the practice fields, where the Asha'man learned how to fight.

How to kill.

The Traveling plain, a brief expanse of grass set aside solely for the purpose of Asha'man Traveling to and from the Tower, flashed and shimmered as Gateways opened and closed, a steady stream of people heading in both directions. The Tower was as alive as it ever had been.

One such gateway opened, and out stepped an Asha'man, clad in his black coat with his pins on his neck. Behind him, a young man walked, looking around him at this new world with eyes full of mistrust. He carried no belongings, no sack of clothes, nothing. Merely what was on his back. He was an odd-looking man as well, with his odd-style haircut and the blond and red stripes throughout his hair. His hair fell across half of his face, hiding his eyes in shadow, hiding much of his features from those around him.

"Welcome to the Tower, Seia. I will take you to the Stormleader. He will see to it that you are housed accordingly, and given your uniform."

Seia glanced down at his clothes. He wore black boots that showed little signs of travel, surprisingly, and black leggings that hung a little loosely. A tight-fitting leather coat atop that, black as well, came up to his neck and swept the backs of his knees, the sleeves coming down to his wrists. The cuffs were molded around wide bracelets that have the coat an odd appearance. His hands were clad in black gloves. "I think I match closely enough," Seia said, and looked around a bit more.

The Asha'man gave him a sharp look, but said nothing as he lead him towards the Tower itself. A large and terrifying viasge; a monument to the Asha'mans' power. They walked along for a while in silence before the Asha'man began to point out things and explain what they were. The camp was a military camp . . . as if Seia couldn't have guessed that. The town, surprise surprise, was the town were the people lived and shopped. The barracks looking building was amazingly a barracks.

Seia rolled his eyes. He had seen enough of life to know that anything good soon turned sour, and this offer of food and shelter wouldn't be all happy sleep time and good eating for very long.

A group of people ran past in a relative hurry, clamoring about some new incident in the practice fields. The Asha'man waved and shouted at one man, but he looked back and said "Take him to Rodgin!"

The Asha'man muttered a curse and turned, heading towards a grove of trees a little out the way. By the sounds of it, there was a forge hidden within. Seia sighed. What would an Asha'man be doing blacksmithing? He could just channel for whatever he wanted, right? Why go through the extra effort? He had to be some sort of a fake. Or perhaps just merely weak.

The Asha'amn knocked loudly, getting a large man's attention. Seia sighed. So that was it. The man was all brawn and no brain. Probably wasn't intelligent enough to realize that this "saidin" would do the same thing as his sweat, blood, and effort in a fraction of the time. "Stormleader Kemph, a new recruit. He requires housing and training." Seia crossed his arms, glaring at his escort. This buffoon was going to expect this ox to be able to comprehend his words? This would be interesting.

Re: Seia Comes
Rodgin turned away from the forge, rather frustrated that his small reprive had been interupted. There were too many eyes and ears here for him to stay away for long. With soot up his arms and smeared across his face, Rodgin quickly channeled his forge out and stripped off his leather apron.

Turning, he was the new recruit. A young man who looked nearly like a Asha'man already. Not in attitude though. Rodgin channeled briefly and found the lad to be stronger then most. And judgin by the look on the boys face, more stubborn and harder then most.

"Very well Asha'man, return to your duties," Rodgin said, dismissing the man. Strapping on his sword belt, Rodgin started toward the training field and Soldier barracks without looking if the boy was following.

"You're not going to get any food just standing there," Rodgin said when he didn't hear any foot steps. "And a name always helps me figure out how to make you better at what you came here to do."

Re: Seia Comes
Seia snorted at the lumbering fool. He already knew this place was going downhill. It was only a small blessing that Kairi was no longer with him . . . he would only begin to imagine the horrors that she would have suffered here, the multitude of men . . .

The disappointment when she learned that he would become one of these men. Channelers. Darkfriends, more than likely, hiding behind the "righteous" title of Defenders of the Light.

"My name is Seia Vron." He said sourly. "But no man 'makes' me anything. I control my own fate now." He hadn't started walking yet, and got a small twinge of satisfaction when the other turned to look back at him. "And generally introductions run two ways. Now take me to wherever I can get something to eat around here before you start treating me like a slave."

Re: Seia Comes
Rodgin shook his head. He had been very depressed when he had been first brought to the Tower. Raekal had beat him out of it, but he could see already that it wouldn't work on this one. A gentle hand and a short leash, lest he tried to do more then was allowed.

"You're right Seia," Rodgin said closing the space between them. "Introductions go both ways. I'm Rodgin Kemph, Stormleader. And you're also right, you are you're own man. However, until you learn to use the gift you've been given, we can't let you out of here. You're a threat to humanity. As far as being a slave, you're not stuck here like that. Think of yourself more as an honored guest....who doesn't get to leave. Now, lets get you some food and we'll discuss your life here a little more then you've been told."

Rodgin waited for the punk to step out and start in the direction he thought the kitchen was in. Probably could get there using his nose.

Re: Seia Comes
Seia stared for a moment. The approach the man was taking--Rodgin--was a bit unnerving. The farmer had been very nice as well. Called them his guests. Fed them, given them a warm bed to sleep in for a couple of nights while they regathered their strength. Then it had changed. He had put a chain around Kairi's neck, and made them both his slaves. Slaves. It was not something that Seia would ever be able to get over like anything else in life. No . . . his sister had not wanted to be in his bed either. Her screams, her pleading cries, had been proof of that.

This place had to be something different, something new. But the way that this man carried himself, the way that Rodgin talked to him, was something completely other than what he had expected at first. Finally, he shook his head and walked past Rodgin out the door. His "escort" into the Tower had already pointed out the Commons, where the Asha'man frequently gathered to eat, and he began walking in that direction. The smell of meat was in the air--the new merchants that he had spotted coming in had obviously brought in some tasty morsels as well. "Why can't I leave if I want? If I'm such a threat to humanity, aren't I threat to you? Me? These people? Isn't everyone here a threat? Seems to me that it would be safer away from here."

Re: Seia Comes
"Yes, it would be safer, once you have control over Saiden," Rodgin said softly. "You're a threat to yourself and others until you learn to control it. Men have lit themselves on fire, made the ground swallow buildings, even towns. That is the power of Saiden. Here, we can make sure you keep yourself safer. You also have men around you who understand what it's like to be an outcast from the rest of the world."

Rodgin grabbed a bowl of stew and sat down where the boy had picked out a place.

"Now, the rules say that you have to learn to channel saftly before we let you go anywhere," Rodgin said around some stew. "If you wish to become one of us, then you are welcome to. The training is hard. I'm not going to lie to you, I almost died in training. If you wish to stay a civilian then you must learn to control it before we set you out on the world. Either way, you'll learn to channel before you are allowed to leave."

Rodgin watched the boy closely, waiting for him to do something irational. Hoping he wouldn't and that he understood the task before him.

Re: Seia Comes
Seia grabbed a couple of rolls and a bowl of stew. It smelled delicious, and the bread was soft, so it wasn't long before he was rising to refill his bowl and returned with a couple more rolls. He held his spoon lightly in his gloved fingers, chewing on a piece of broth-soaked bread, staring at Rodgin. The original impressions he had had about the man were fading away. He was someone that he polite yes, brawn yes, but there was something else to him . . . his heart perhaps. How was it even possible for Seia to be sitting in the same place as him? This man would turn, just like the farmer, just like his father . . .

Everything around him was screaming for him to run from this place as fast as he could, but instead, he lowered his eyes to his stew, ate more, and finally said. "I suppose if the food is this adequate all of the time, I might as well stick around. And I'm not afraid of death." His green eyes were hollow when he looked back up at Rodgin. "Nothing you can do to me will compare." To the loss of my sister . . . my life.

"We will see," Rodgin said, leaning back, enjoying a full belly. Nothing compared to holding Saiden and riding the torents of vile power, but a full belly helped him hold off the gnawing hunger a bit easier. "You will be shown the worst of everything in you, and in doing so unlock the most power you've ever seen. Life here is not easy, but it is rewarding. As I said, I won't demand you become an Asha'man, but you have to learn to control your channeling before we can let you go."

Rodgin leaned forward and grinned.

"And the food is always plentiful, but not always this good."

Re: Seia Comes
"The only power I'd want," Seia growled, low in his throat, sucking up another bowl of stew, "would be the power to rid the world of abusive tyrants." He lowered his head over his bowl. He supposed he could choose. Stay and live here, or . . . stay and live here. There was a bit of a challenge in Rodgin's words, as if he didn't think Seia capable of completing the training. He laughed inwardly at that. He could, if he wanted to.

So he would.

"So. When do we start?"

Re: Seia Comes
"I want to make sure you undestand this," Rodgin said, watching the boy eat up the second bowl of stew. "Training to be an asha'man won't be some quick trip. We train you as fast as we can, but it is abusive, hard training. We can't afford to be light handed. Once you've passed training, things get different, but right away, it will be harder and more stringent then anything else you've ever done."

Rodgin looked deep into the lad's eyes. He had the guts to be a good Asha'man, and he was pretty impressive for raw talent. It was wether or not his past would let him. He'd seen too many men crack under the rigors of training to take it lightly.

"If you're absolutely certain, we'll start tomorrow after you've gotten some sleep. Saiden does not lend itself to the weak."

Seia rolled his eyes, pushing away the half-finished bowl of stew. He could have finished it and another after, but this man before him was becoming infuriating. "Look, I said I'd do it, so stop trying to scare me. You can't scare me." He closed his eyes, trying to find a source of calm within, a light to guide him forwards. "If you're done, you can crawl back into the hole that you came from, and I can go find my own room now."

"Very well, I'll see you in the morning," Rodgin said, standing up and leaving. He called over an Asha'man nearby, giving him orders to give to the housing master. Seia did not have a room until Rodgin came and gave him one.

Rodgin knew he couldn't openly punish Seia, it would push him away. But small reprimands like this should do the trick. He went towards the Tower proper. He had more work to do for consolidating the legion and having them properly trainined.

Re: Seia Comes
Seia stared after him for a moment. Rodgin was an enigma, that was for sure. One that Seia wasn't sure about, and it wasn't everyday that he met someone that he didn't know if he liked or not right off the bat. Pushing his bowl away even further, he stood up and slipped out. No one noticed him, except for a few odd glances at his hair and the like. Those he was used to--people never had been "comfortable" around him. He was odd, unusual. He liked it. And perhaps, if he became an Asha'man, he would find a way to pay back the evils in this world. One place he would go when he was allowed to leave would be home. To hurt those that had hurt Kairi . .

He walked for a ways, avoiding men in black coats and everyone else for that matter, finding a nice tree to sit under. He sat for a moment, drawing his knees up against his chest, wrapping his arms around his legs, resting his forehead on his kneecaps. His eyes closed, and images danced across his eyelids, dark dangerous images.

The man loomed over him and his sister. He held one hand out, the other resting on the shaft of the pitchfork that he had been using to find her cowering under the hay. Her arm was bleeding from where the fork had jabbed her, her shirt sleeve turning red from the blood. Hate boiled through Seia as he had leapt from the loft and landed in front of the man, shoving him backwards. Now he lay atop of her, his head ringing from the blow with the wooden shaft, his vision dancing in and out.

"No!" she had screamed, pulling his dazed body into her arms. "Don't hurt him! I'll come . . . I'll come . . ."

"Right, you will!" the farmer growled, and reached out to take her hand.

Energy and hatred whirled through Seia as he stood, smacking away that outstretched hand. The man growled, glaring at him, and made to stab him. Seia laughed as some insane power filled him, and the pitchfork slowed as it came at him. He reached out and caught it, pushed it back, out of his hands. It had flown across the barn, hitting the wall . . .

Seia landed atop the man, straddling his chest, his arms well-toned from his labor in the fields, his entire body muscled and strong. Too strong for the farmer, who grappled feebly with the iron hands around his throat. Kairi screaming in the background, screaming and weeping, telling him to stop, yelling for it all to stop . . .

Seia's hand had come up and the pitchfork had come to him, as easily as that. And with it . . .

An hour later, drenched in blood, gore dripping from his hair, laced across his face, his shirt matted to his chest with it, red tendrils running down his arms and dripping from his fingertips . . . he had stood and carried Kairi's unconcious form from the barn. She had passed out from screaming and crying, for it had all been simply too much for her to handle.

He had laid her underneath the tree, and went inside the house to wash himself clean. He left his "slave" clothes there and retrieved his proper belongings, and Kairi's. She slept so peacefully when he returned . . . he lay beside her, and slept. No one would hurt her again. No one would hurt either of them . . .

His eyes snapped open and he looked up. The sun was going down in the distance. He stood, dusting himself off, and was surprised when he sniffed and wiped his nose . . .and his glove came away damp. He touched his cheeks and realized he had been crying. Crying for Kairi's lost memory, for her loss . . . he had finally been able to protect her, and she died.

he walked towards the barracks, and stepped inside. There was an Asha'man leaning against the wall inside who turned to him when he entered. "Seia?"

"Yeah . . ." Seia answered, looking at this new man curiously.

"I'm to show you to your rooms. You'll have a roommate, because we're full up, and most people are being forced to double-up these days. When you reach the rank of Dedicated, we'll see if you can get a room to yourself."

"I don't care about that," Seia said sourly. It wasn't like he was going to do much there anyway. He already highly doubted that he would even sleep there much.

The Asha'man gave him a sideways glance. "I think you might. See. Some of our new civilians like to stay in the barracks too. No houses available for them yet, see? So they come here for a room. But you guys have to stay here, so every once in a while . . ."

"Are you trying to tell me my roommate is a girl?" Seia asked sharply. "If so, just spit it out."

"One of the first things you will learn here boy," the Asha'man said sharply, turning to face him, blocking his path, "is to treat men above you with the utmost respect. I'd like to see you talk that way to the M'Hael, or the First!"

"Don't lecture me like you care," Seia retorted, crossing his arms across his chest. "I'll treat you with respect when you've earned it."

The Asha'man's eyes narrowed, but he said nothing else, merely fell into step again, and finally stopped at a room near the end of the hall. He pushed the door open, and an invisible hand pushed Seia inside, then the door slammed behind him and the lock clicked. Seia stared over his shoulder with anger glittering in his eyes, then sighed and shook his head, turning back around to see who this mysterious roommate was.

Who was, indeed, a girl, sitting on her bed, for there were two in the room, one against each wall, with a pillow under her chin, her arms wrapped around it. Her feet didn't quite hit the floor, so she had to be rather short. He stared for a moment, trying to figure out who she was. She had short black hair, far shorter than his own, done up in weird mix of spikes pointing in all directions. Her eyes were a very deep brown, almost black, mesmerizing pools that were already drawing him in.

"I'm Bridgette," she said, and Seia had to swallow hard to find his voice to answer.

"Seia." He said, and walked over to the other bed. She had large golden hoops on her wrists, three on her left and four on the right.

"Nice to meet you, Seia."

"Yeah . . . sure."

"What? You don't seem to be very happy to be here."

"Cause I'm not."

"How come? My father's an Asha'man. I came to be with him."

"Your father? How old are you?"

"Old enough to know better than to answer that," she said with a laugh. "They said I'd get a room to myself."

"So sorry."

"No, it's okay. But . . . you're going to be an Asha'man too, right?"

"Apparently."

"Do you not like to talk?"

"Nope."

"Oh. Well. It's getting late, so I was going to go ahead and go to bed. I hope you don't mind."

Seia laid back on his bed, hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling, saying nothing. So she was pretty, sure. But annoying. He had a feeling this was going to get rather tired of this room.

"I'll take that as a no," she said, and rose from her bed to walk over to blow out the lamp burning brightly on the table at the end of the room. She had a very lithe figure, young and thin, though she was beginning to fill out in all the right places, Seia could tell. She turned to look at him before she blew out the light. "Nice hair." Then she plunged the room into darkness. Seia blinked a few times before his eyes adjusted, and watched her make her way back to her bed. She sat back on it like she had before, sighing heavily.

"Sorry," Seia said after a moment's tense silence.

"Sorry? For?"

"Being . . . silent." What on earth? He never apologized to anyone! Ever!

"Oh. It's okay, I suppose. After all, we did just meet. How long have you been here?"

He looked over at her. Was she serious? He just got a room, so obviously he was new! "This would be my first night here."

"I see. I've been here for about two months now. It's fun though. Always something new happening. Anyway. I was out working all day, so I'm going to get some sleep now. See you in the morning!"

Seia shrugged to himself, still staring at the ceiling. He wasn't really looking forward to morning . . . to seeing Rodgin again. And he wasn't really precisely sure just how he was supposed to find him in the morning anyway. Light . . . he hated life sometimes.

Re: Seia Comes
Rodgin stood out on the training field, waiting for Seia to show up, knowing the young man would have to search high and low. But if the lad thoguht about it, he would be here any minute...

And right on cue, the boy came into the yard looking rather irritated. Rodgin was personally going to make sure this boy learned, and learned fast.

"Hope you're rested Seia. Today will be something like you've never experienced. Follow me."

Rodgin led him into the Tower proper, down into the basement, into a room far away from everything else. It smelled of old books and damp soil. Here things would be peaceful enough to learn the Void with some resemblance of speed.

"Ok, now comes the first step to truely embracing Sadin whenever you wish," Rodgin said sitting down. "Sit down, and close your eyes. Visualize a flame. Empty all your emotions into that flame. Everything needs to be comsumed until there is nothing there but the flame. Then push that out as well. This is called the Void. In the Void, you will see or feel the presence of something like the sun. Do not reach for that sun. That is the next step and we'll get there as fast as we can."

Rodgin watched, having a shield set in case Seia reached for the source. He wasn't about to let him step out of line. Not right now.

Re: Seia Comes
Seia stepped out of the barracks, fully expecting the big buffoon to be there, to be waiting for him. There were a few other Soldiers standing about, a few men of other importance around, but no big buffoon. Seia stifled a yawn. He hadn't slept very well the entire night, thinking about that strange girl that had been thrust into his life.

He looked around for a moment. It was probably the idea of the buffoon to make Seia look for him. Seia growled low in his throat and headed out a bit more, glancing around him at his surroundings. He had always had a good sense of direction, a solid feeling of where things were around him, where he was in the world. And though he had only been at the Tower for a matter of hours, he had been given two brief run throughs of the place, and had a good idea of where to go.

He turned in the direction pairs of men in black were walking. Some, he noticed, had the silver pins at their collars, others had silver and gold pins. Others, like himself, had none of them. He didn't care. He wouldn't wear them even when they gave them to him. Stepping over a fallen log, and growing more irratated by the moment, he finally spotted Rodgin standing by himself, a pillar of calm and cool collected thought. Seia hated him.

"Hope you're rested Seia. Today will be something like you've never experienced. Follow me."

Seia didn't bother answering. He would have been ignored anyway. Sighing instead, he followed Rodgin along as they walked into the Tower itself. It was Seia's first time inside, and he had to admit to himself that it was quite.. magnificent inside, as well as out. The black marble was swept, as if made by the finest craftsmen. No marks from tools marred any surface. There were not even seams in the rock, as if they had been cleverly hidden away..

When they reached a basement, they sat on the floor, facing one another. Seia looked around him in mild disappointment. "Ok, now comes the first step to truely embracing Sadin whenever you wish. Sit down, and close your eyes.

Seia let his eyes drift close. He supposed that Rodgin knew enough to touch this power, so he might as well try what he said. In his mind, he formed a flame. A silly thought, really, but then he started thinking back over all the times when he had been lost in misery over his sister. He had forced his mind blank, by burning away the thoughts.. and found warmth, comfort, and hope for his future in that. Was it possible, that he had done this before?

Slowly focusing, he threw his thoughts into the flame, watched them disintegrate, forced himself to feed more to the flame, and more, and more, until he felt the beginning of a numb sensation creeping into him. With that came a flurry of thoughts, and the feeling fled. He did it again, not allowing his displeasure at his own failing to show. He took a deep, calming breath and fed thought after thought to the flame. More and more.

Time trickled past.. first mere moments, then a little more, and then a little more.. until an hour or so had passed, with Seia sitting still on the floor, focusing inwardly, sharply. And then.. finally the feeling of hanging in suspension, of beign without thoughts or feelings, encased his mind. He looked around his mental self hanging in this void. Sure enough, there was a light, that beckoned to him, called to him, reached down and bathed him in it's warm glow. This was the comfort, happiness, and hope that he had found before. He let his eyes open, seeing things sharper, more clearly. His sharp green eyes latched onto Rodgin. "I feel it," he whispered.

Re: Seia Comes
"Yes," Rodgin said, excitment and memories of his first time seeing it coloring his voice. "Now, drop the Void. Next time you find it, we'll touch that light. The Source, the One Power. The academic stuff isn't needed now. Once you are out of the Void, I'll explain a few things before you start again."

Rodgin watched as Seia's countenance changed with the loss of the Void. It was always sad to lose contact with Saiden. Rodgin pushed his connection closed with one final parting sip of the Power that made life worth living.

"Now, when you move to take hold of The Light, that power that was only teasing you there, do so with a vengence. I know you have the fight in you. As I said yesterday, Saiden doesn't lend itself to the weak. When you finally get a hold of it, hang on. I'll shield you before anything negative happens. This will be one ride you'll never forget."

Rodgin grasped Saiden himself, remaking the shield. It was a bittersweet feeling, the Taint rolling through him with the icy hot power that could be replaced by nothing else.

"Begin," he whispered.

Re: Seia Comes
Seia sighed in a bit of irratation. He could have been told this in his prior set of instructions, and could have touched that comforting light then, rather than now. Rather than having to sort through his irratation in order to reform the void. He closed his eyes, letting his mind focus inward, sharp like a blade, trimming and snipping and burning.

His drew a deep breath, trying to calm himself again, trying to pull that layer of indifference to the outside world over him, and finally succeeded, burning away his agigation in the flame. As the void reformed in his mind, he took a second deep breath, to help maintain the fragile state of mind. He reached up this time, pulling the light towards him. He could not explain it any other way than letting himself rise up to it, and pulling it down to him at the same moment. A mixture of surrender and control that was puzzling, at best.

His eyes narrowed in concentration. He didn't know what to expect really, but not .... nothing. Which was what was happening, to begin with. He fumbled for control a bit more until he finallyfelt it hit him, like a wall. His eyes snapped open as life rushed into him, at the same time filling him with vibrant reality and turning normal life to paste, and rolling his stomach with a touch so vile and foul that it could only be the taint that the Asha'man dealt with. Colors exploded around him. Power vibrated into the core of his being. Sound rushed in, feeling heightened. He could smell his clothes, that they had not been washed in a few days, could smell his own sweat, and the faint clean aroma radiating off of Rodgin. The drastic difference made him flush a bit, made him feel unclean and inferior. He looked around the room, really seeing everything for the first time.

And while it felt so wondrous, he realized that he was fighting a battle with it, unconciously. That it was trying to sweep him away, to pull him under the raging current of power. Molten heat and freezing cold slashed through him in wave after wave until he felt like he was coming apart. But yet.. he had never felt more alive, and never wanted the feeling to stop. He drew more in, unconciously....

And then it vanished, and the void shattered around him. He blinked a few times, suddenly at a loss as to how to do anything, even so much as breathe, without the power. "That was... amazing!" he gasped, when he could draw regular breath again.

Re: Seia Comes
"And it's highly addictive," Rodgin said with a sour face as he let go of his connection again. "You need to learn to do what you just did every time. That is what is considered control. Now, here are the rules. Untill you get your first pins, there will be no channeling unsupervised. You're strong. You'll have that soon."

Rodgin took a minute to get up and walk around the musty storage room. It was getting warmer in here, especially with channeling the power. He removed his immaculate coat and then sat back down.

"Now, we're going to discuss weaves. It's easier to see them then get an explanation, so, once you have a hold of Saiden, watch closely."

He pulled out a candle and set it in between them. He smiled at Seia before he grabed hold of Saiden himself.

"You're going to light this candle. It's a difficult task because it requires some finesse. Now, take hold and watch."

Once Rodgin was sure Seia had saiden, he wove a single thread of fire around the wick, holding it there until the candle sprang to life. What he hoped Seia saw was the shield he had woven as well, preparing to slam it into place.

Re: Seia Comes
Looking at the candle, Seia was sure that he could do it. He took a deep breath, relaxing and envisioning the flame in his mind. The flame he would soon create. When he had the void, he reached for saidin, and once more felt it rush back into him, the sickening sweet river of life and death, the purity of the power, the revolting twist of the taint.

He watched the power extend out of Rodgin, a thin tendril of power. It had the feel, the burning aura, of fire. He looked deeper into the Power within himself and found himself sorting out fire, water, earth, air, and spirit. He could see the different strands coming together to form the whole. He plucked at the power, willing fire to come forth, and come forth it did.

He held up his hand and the tendril, the weave itself, dropped down and out from his fingertips, dropping down in halting movements to wrap itself around the tip of the candle's wick. He wrapped it tighter, wondering what was supposed to happen..

The candle went up with a great WHOOSH of flame. He yanked his hand back as the wick seemed to incinerate itself, and the wax ran in all different directions. He looked up, losing his connection to saidin immediately, losing the mindset to be able to hold it. Blinking in surprise, he laughed a little. "A little much, I suppose."
