Simple Rules for Etiquette
We are totally without manners. I am not expecting anyone be be the perfect model of Victorian benevolence, but we could really stand to teach people in our society a few rules of behavior. I know we have Miss Manners and etiquette books still, but no one really reads them these days. I think we just need a short list of a few rules that anyone can follow to keep yourself from looking like a complete jerk. Like:
1 - You rarely impress others by laughing at your own attempts at humor.
2 - The person on your cell phone is not more important than the person you are actually with.
3 - Be nice to people you want things from. You don't have to be a kiss up, just remember that yelling at someone, insulting them, etc is going to make them less likely to see things your way.
