Surprises of the Hall ATTN Everyone
OOC--Sorry it took me soo long The end was a surprise I thought I would add a twist.
Alexia made her way into the Hall. It was empty save for some servants she had in there to clean. The Hall had sat empty for far too long. Today it was about to change. For weeks the different ajahs had been huddling together around their candidate for Amyrlin Seat. Talk between Ajahs has been done also for support. The old alliances of the Hall stood true. She had no idea how it happened but now only three stood as true candidates for the Amyrlin Seat when there had been ten.
In a surprising twist Reds had thrown their support behind the Yellows. Alexia could only fathom that some among the Reds felt they would never be able to put their own as Amyrlin after what happened in Braem Woods. They Grays were also for the Yellow Ajah candidate. As for the other ajahs she had a feeling they would support the other one, who was a Green.
Sunlight filter into the Hall and Alexia looked around. She rushed the servants and soon the Hall was empty again. She had stood there alone for only a moment or two and looked at the seat that would soon be occupied after today. She mourned the friend that once held the seat but now was time for someone new. Footsteps out in the Hall signaled that the Sitters were on time. The pledges would follow but first the Sitters entered. They made their way to their seats, all with unreadable expressions. They knew that whomever did not have to most support would be exiled and Alexia could not gainsay Tower Law even though she knew the Tower needed all the Aes Sedai to fight the Asha’men.
Once everyone was comfortable Alexia motioned for the doors to open. The supporters made a unified front at the door with the candidates behind them. Now was the time to begin.
"Who comes before the Hall of the Tower?" Alexia asked in a strong loud voice. The group parted and the two candidates could be seen clearly. Both wore their shawls although the Green candidate had surprised her. Trista was the last person she would have thought to step up for candidacy. The woman looked like she would sick up and Alexia could not believe she was that nervous she would visible show it. I would have been the same if i was about to be judged. Alexia pushed the thought aside as the two answered.
"One who comes obediently, in the Light.”
"Who comes before the Hall of the Tower?" Alexia voice took on a hard edge as she stared into the eyes of each woman.
"One who comes humbly, in the Light." All answered confidently.
"Who comes before the Hall of the Tower?"
"One who comes at the summons of the Hall, obedient and humble in the Light, asking only to accept the will of the Hall."
Her role done Alexia waited for another.
"Are there any present save women?" Cerine Sedai of the White Ajah stood asking the Hall.
Alexia bared herself to the Hall for all to see unabashed by the display. "I am a woman." After she had done this everyone in the hall did so as well. Cerine walked the Hall expecting everyone before stating only women stood present. The candidates stayed as they were while the Hall redressed themselves. They would keep the upper bodies bare until the Hall was done.
"Who stands for this woman and pledges for her, heart for heart, soul for soul, life for life?" Support of each candidate was proclaimed with confidence and clarity.
"Come forward, Trista Farenall and Arine Darelia," Alexia asked. The two knelt in front of her and the hall was eerily silent. She looked down at them and wanted to sigh. They were both assets to the Tower. They were influential and dedicated but now only one would be chosen to lead.
"Why are you here?"
"I was summoned by the Hall of the Tower."
"What do you seek?"
"To serve the White Tower, nothing more and nothing less."
"How would you serve?"
"With my heart and my soul and my light, in the Light. Without fear or favor, in the Light."
"Where would you serve?"
"In the Amyrlin Seat, if it pleases the Hall of the Tower."
The Hall suddenly came to life as all the women involved sided with a candidate. The Reds stood firmly with the Yellows. It still surprised her, but Alexia took it in stride. The Grays also filled in with the Yellows. Browns and Blues stood up with the Green candidate. Alexia looked to her White sisters. It always seemed to come down to them to make a final decision. Since she was not allowed to participate she waited. Tanae Sedai stood and the other Whites stood with her. They made their way over to the Greens. Alexia wanted to heave a sigh of relief when the unthinkable happened.
Trista Sedai tried to leave the room. She started to cry saying she did not want the position. Collective gasps went through everyone. Alexia almost went to slap her. How could she do this? Disgrace the Tower and herself by such a display. The sickening display went on for longer then it should have until Alexia, angered stepped in. “QUIET! You will leave the Hall now Trista. Anyone who wishes to follow her, know now you are banished.” No one made a move as they all watched in varying degrees of astonishment and anger.
When the traitorous woman had left everyone could see only one remained. In the history of the Tower nothing like this has ever happened... a candidate assuming the Seat by default.

Re: Surprises of the Hall ATTN Everyone
Hard work, that's what it was, well along with the plotting and schemeing that all Aes Sedai do. But more off it was promised, perhaps not in this aspect but there she stood with her breast bared. Long ago, at the test to become Accepted she learned it was no good to be modest in the Tower. When it was obvious that only women remained in the hall she put her bodice back up and did the laces in the back. She knew she should wear something that was easy to get in and out, instead she still wore mourning white, as a sign of respect for the former Amyrlin. After today though... after today she'd go back to wearing her normal clothing. Pitty she couldn't wear black, it went so well with her colouring. But if she did that others would suspect.
When the time came she knelt before the Keeper, perhaps Arine would keep her on if she became Amyrlin. Now was the time of lies, well at least some of it. The mission statement, for lack of a better term. Why you were here, what you intened to do. Kneeling beside the Green the Yellow kept herself humble as the ritual was performed.
Reds, Yellows and Grays they all stood behind Arine as she knelt there, her face impassive, if the woman were playing cards she could teach a rock, a thing or two about a poker face. Though it has surprised her when the Whites moved over to stand behind the Green. No! this couldn't be happening! Was all she could think, her dreams, all of them false? No it couldn't be.
But no more then her hopes had been crushed then they soared. The girl before her got up and started out of the Hall, when her way was blocked she started to blubber saying how she didn't want this postion that she was pushed into it by her sisters. Arine's heart soared, it was her's, the seat was her's. Of course this wasn't shown on her face, instead a look of disgust crossed the Yellow's face. She'd been really good at hiding her emotions and putting on a face of another. When the woman was banished, Arine looked up at the Keeper, and nods her head, signalling it was time to finish what had started.

Alexia looked down on Arine and smiled. Although the Yellow would not have been her choice for Amyrlin she was a good choice for the candidacy. Now she was the only one left. Ceremony hadto be observed first and Tane Sedai of the White was the first to remeber that. she came to stand in front of the yellow and took off her slippers.
The washing of the Sitters' feet ;asted for a while and the others knew that sincethey did not leave with Trista they were now pledged to Arine. It was the only thing to do or else be banished. Most knew as much as they wished for another the Hall and he Tower had to be whole.
When the Ceremony was done Arine was allowed to raise and all looked to her as she was redressing herself. It has been done. Arine Sedai was now the Amyrlin Seat and it was now the Sitters turn to wash her feet. and for her to pick her new Keeper.
Alexia was so glad her duty as Keeper of the chronicles was now over. She had a Queen to take care of and a war to head off.

Kerin stood in the back of the chamber. The other two Blues were sitting on either side of her, whispering to her how they thought this woman did not deserve the Seat, that there were other women more capable of handling the situation. Many of their comments were thinly veiled, hinting that Kerin herself should have stepped forwards for the Seat. Angrily, she waved them to silence throughout the feet-washing ceremonies.
Kerin tapped her fingers absently on the arm of the chair when she was re-seated. It would now be time to Arine to pick her Keeper, and speak to the Hall for the first time as Amyrlin Seat. Kerin watched distractedly. She had a few projects sitting in her rooms that she wanted to get back to. She wasn't ready to come here in the first place. She was wearing a very pale green dress, her arms bared just above her elbow. The color choice had drawn several stares, seeing as how everyone else was wearing dresses of their own Ajah colors. It was absurd. This was absurd. The entire TOWER was absurd. She wondered idly how much the Tower would miss her if she took to wandering and left the Tower entirely. Then, shaking away such thoughts, she went back to the ceremony, hoping that it got over soon.

An Amyrlin must be humble, that was the point of this... useless exersize. One by one she washed the halls' feet, she wondered if Catala Lucancalle, Alvera Ramosanya, or Marasale Jureen had to flaming do this. Most likely, looking humble she knelt before each Sister and the Keeper, to wash their feet and dry them. By the time she was finished, her hands were pruned, the tips of her fingers looking like raisins almost. Standing she looked them all over and inclined her head. Taking a seat she slipped her own slippers off.
The Hall washed her feet, now they matched her hands. When the entire hall was done with her she stood and said, "I be knowing it be coustmary for the Amyrlin Seat to be pick her Keeper now." Looking over to Alexia, she gave the woman a nod, "I do be wanting to thank our former Keeper Alexia Drelledovie Aes Sedai for doing such a wonderful job." Arine gave the woman some applause, she deserved that much. "There be many.. many a woman I would be liking to stand next to me to be my right hand. Most of you in this hall do be worthy. So I will be looking over my options and announce the Keeper, in three days time."
Arine's voice rang out among the walls. She'd been Sitter for nearly fifty years, Head of the Yellow for twenty-five of that. Any who thought her weak was sorely mistaken. Dark black eyes scanned the room, "Any of you who still wish to be leaveing with that traitor will be banished now..." And killed... she added to herself, "If you be wishing to stay, then we all be having alot of things to discuss..." She waited before taking her seat to see if any one else left.
"There be rumours... that the Dragon Reborn has been killed, that Tarmon Gai'don is won now by the Dark One." There was a ripple though the Green Sitters, and Arine raised a hand, "Be fearing not my Battle Sitsters, we will be no losing in this fight for the Light. You..." Her onyx eyes fell on every woman in the room, "You that be willing to fight... you that be willing to die.. All of us, must be ready... This pointless squabbaling between Ajahs must be put aside for now."
Lifting her head up high she placed her hands on the arms of her chair and lifted her self up. "I will now be hearing all that you have to be saying. We will be starting with one from every Ajah, going alphabetically by Ajah name." Her eyes fell on the Blues, "Speak and do be heard Sister."

Re: Surprises of the Hall ATTN Everyone
Kerin started slightly. She hadn't been expecting such, and to be so addressed was rather startling. Not that everything that had happened today wasn't startling; it would make the history books for sure, and Kerin wasn't so sure that she would be proud of it for very long.
Only one thing at this time was for sure:
Arine was no fool, and she would be placing the Tower under her iron command, if she could. Arine was already to be respected and feared . . . Kerin decided at that moment that Arine would be someone worth supporting. Anyone that could pull the Tower together again would be useful.
Slowly, at the urging of her two fellow Sisters, Kerin rose, smoothing the pale green silk over her stomach. Her eyes danced around the room. At once, she had the attention of the room. Women listened to and respected her now days. She wasn't sure how much she liked that just yet. "I agree with the Amyrlin," Kerin said bluntly. The one thing she wasn't fluent in was speaking. Publicly, at least. "She is right, about everything. Rumors are rumors. You don't give up hope because someone heard from someone else that their best freind's sister heard from her friend's cousin's friend that the Dragon Reborn is dead. None of the Prophecies have even been fulfilled as of yet, so everyone here can just relax a bit."
Her eyes found Alexia. "Alexia Sedai has performed splendidly." She gave her a masculine bow, and a quirked smile. "I commend her as well. The Tower owes you more than any of us can imagine."
She turned back to Arine, locked eyes with her for a moment. "The Blue Ajah has stood firmly behind every Amyrlin, from any Ajah. Color is of little matter to myself or my collegues. We are here, not to fight with each other, but with the Shadow, NEXT to each other. And that is all I have to say." She sat again, letting out a long slow breath. She hoped they didn't clap, she hated applause.
