Re: THEATRE COURSES.....?!?
I'm pretty sure "On the Shoulders of Masters" is just the general name for class that all theatre people are taking. You didn't sign up for it, you were placed in it because you're going to gov school for theatre.

that is, if it's anything like last year
and this is just what I think

I'll let Sheryl or someone else who knows answer more definitly.

On the Shoulders of Masters: Theatre 2006
Discovering the great traditions of the Master-Actor’s craft, we will explore the methods that lead to vibrant individual and collective theatrical expression. Our daily experience will include group warm-ups, rotation groups that focus upon individual actor approaches to the work, and project groups that provide vehicles for the application of the creative process. Our focus is on process rather than product. We believe that the mastery of the craft of theatre is best achieved through studio/laboratory work. Our goal is to develop tools needed by all theatre artists: collaboration, creativity, and artistic responsibility.

Picking the Giant's Brain: Subtext and Doublespeak in American Culture
What do you mean? Did you mean what you meant when you said what you said what you meant to say? Subtext, doublespeak, metaphor, and body language are used by people, businesses, and government to communicate, influence and misdirect. In this class we will investigate, explode, and play with film, literature, and the visual and performing arts as we discover the secret (and not so secret) meanings all around us

Copied from the Course Descriptions section, if you have not already seen it. Otherwise I am no help hahaha :)

Re: THEATRE COURSES.....?!?
thebakerswife has it right. "On the Shoulders of Giants" is our overall theme this year, and so many of the art disciplines came up with names for the classes that are playing off that theme. Last year's theme was "Journey Beyond" so there were lots of course titles playing on the travel motif.
