T-Shirt Design Contest
I just wanted to get you guys thinking about the T-shirt design contest. Everyone gets a Governor's School T-shirt and we want it to be created by you, so we have a contest for anyone to submit a design. Check out the attachment for the rules. The entry date is the FIRST Friday of the program, July 7th, so you can start thinking now!!!!!!

Actually I am going to have Jim attach it for me, I have no idea how, so look for the attachment from Jim.

T-Shirts
This isn't really related, but I think you might be able to answer my question. While reading over the packet of information, my mom swears she saw something about swapping shirts. I don't think I remember anything about that, and the design contest sounds like something she would get confused. Swapping or no? Thanks for the reminder though, I had completely forgotten about that.

Re: T-Shirts
I already replied to Renée's e-mail, but I'll go ahead and put up the link myself.

Download this:
Information on the T-Shirt Design Contest (80kb PDF).

I can't wait to see what designs you guys come up with! :banana

Re: T-Shirts
Thanks Jim, your email seemed like it was going to be confusing, so I really appreciate you doing it for me! What would we do without you!

As for the question about swapping t-shirts I know nothing about that. It was probably in regards to the t-shirt contest, but Sheryl might know of something I don't know.

Let me know if there are anymore questions about the contest or the t-shirts! You will choose your color (there will be 5 colors to choose from) and your size in the first hall meeting. The sizes run from Adult S-Adult 4 or 5X in some colors.

Re: T-Shirts
Is there anywhere we can see examples of past designs? I'm just curious about them.

Re: T-Shirts
I am sure that you can. Sheryl will have to let you know for sure though, you might need to wait until we get there. I know she has designs that she can show you there, plus most of us will be wearing past shirts all summer long.

Re: T-Shirts
I don't have past designs scanned or online (something I'd love to do someday), but I do have posters of them in the Governor's School office you can view once you arrive. And yes, many of us will be wearing past year's shirts. I for one wear a different Governor's School shirt each day so you are welcome to stop me and ask to see the back of my shirt any time! I'll try to remember to wear different year's shirts each day that first week.

Re: T-Shirts
Hmm, I certainly could, though I have multiple shirts from some years, and some shirts without a year associated (generic staff shirts.) It would make sense to start with the oldest shirt so when this year's shirt came in it would be about time to wear it. Then again, my older shirts are a bit worn and I do need to make a good first impression. :leaving

Two summers ago I wore the shirts in rainbow order. The shorter the wavelength, the less time left in the program. 8o

If I knew the names of the colors of the shirts, I'd wear them in alphabetical color order. Some of the shirts are so faded it's hard to know if it was kelly green or emerald green when it started.:confused

As a science teacher I loved that you wore them in order of their wavelength Sheryl. Good ol' ROY G. BIV.... :-) Got to love a science nerd:rockon

Re: T-Shirt Design Contest
I once had a Beta fish named Roy G. Biv...we just called him Roy. (Except for my weird friend who called him Mr. Biv)

Hey being a science 8o is sometimes beneficial...

I got some brownie points for explaining the electromagnetic spectrum and sex linked inheritance in my A & P of the Eye class this week. :thumbup

Anyway....

I still think you should wear them in chronological order. ;)

Re: T-Shirts
Hmm... I went with PDF since it's usually the most compatible all-around. But, let's see if I can do a rough approximation of Renée's flyer here...

Governor's School
T-Shirt Design Contest

Anyone in the program can submit a design, you do not have to be a visual artist to enter (but you can be)

Requirements:
  • Use the theme "On the Shoulders of Giants"
  • Designs must be black and white
  • Designs should be at least on 8½ x 11 sized paper
  • Incorporate all aspects of the VPA and Humanities program into your design: Dance, Visual Art, Theatre, Vocal, Instrumental, and Humanities

Submit your design to your RA or the Gray Court Help Desk by Friday, July 7th

Ask Renée if you have any questions

This pretty well eliminates the need for the PDF, but I'll leave it up for those that still want to download it. :)

Re: T-Shirt Design Contest
I had tried a centered version, but since HTML formatting has been disabled for the board, there was no way to get the image to appear centered (for some reason, the ezCode "img" tag fails to inherit the "center" attribute when nested within it). So, I figured I'd pass on the centering, and leave it all left-aligned. :)
