To move or not to move?
Ok in light of the recent attack on ezboard, I am curious. Do we move to another community server (such as MSN) or do we stay here and try to rebuild? Opinions?

Re: To move or not to move?
It all depends on where we are going to move to and what it will involve. EZboard worked but maybe if we move to another host then we might get some new blood into cotes which I think is dearly needed right now. ultimatly its up to you gaia but I think moving would be a good idea.

Re: To move or not to move?
yeah. l agree with sam on that one, and l was browsing through msn groups just now, and l like the format/style of them. the only thing l will say is to beg that we dont use yahoo groups... from what little experience l have of them, they're so difficult/fiddly to use, and kinda difficult to follow or navigate. not worth it, in my opinion... but anyway, moving might be a good idea... but the question is, are we willing to put up with thhe occaisional down time? so far ezboard hasn't been too bad, but who knows....
overall, l was originally against it, but maybe... how much would the board be losing if it moved? (have you renewwed the gold status? l can't even remember if we hve one or not...)

Re: To move or not to move?
Well, there's always phpbbforfree (which really is free), and there's the php pay boards also. On the free php boards, they do have a very large selection of smileys and templates to choose from, but the ability to post your own backgrounds, etc. is somewhat limited - or I just haven't figured it out yet.
The php pay boards are more flexible in what you can do and have and post as far as customizing with your own backgrounds, photos, etc. I'm not sure what it costs, though. Then there's also the possibility of downloading the php software (like my brother has done) and putting it on your own website.
Just tossing out suggestions.

Re: To move or not to move?
Sugar, Do you have time to get me more information on putting it on my website? I think thats a marvelous idea and I just registered my domain today. (well like 20 minutes ago hehehehe) Ill look around but if we can move to my .com....that would just rock! It would mean I would have to stretch a lot less to keep up with my work. When I started this board, I honestly didnt expect much to come of it and while our family is small, it is family and it is dedicated and devoted so I want to keep us together. I looked at pro boards and will check out the ones your talking about sugar, but if I can figure out how to add a Message board to my own .com would everyone be okay with that? that would mean WE can make our own rules....Im liking that idea.
Laurie, I already got a "MSN loads to slow please not there" I like the style too and never fear...I despise yahoo boards! hehehehe You couldnt PAY me to use them again!
I will keep you all posted. Im sorry I have been slow this week, I threw my back out sunday night. I took fritz for his hike in the woods and slipped on the hill trying to keep controll of fritz has he spotted a skunk...of ALL things to play with! As i have already been there and done that with another dog way back when....I wasnt about to do it with one who sleeps with me! Then when I got back to the house, Fritz started acting really nervous, which in itself is not to unusual, but the closer we got to home the more anxious he became and I could se he was really fighting the urge to lunge (we have been working on that) We got closer to the house and I started getting concerned myself! Just a slight feeling of "beware" so I started creeping when I hit the trail up my hill....And saw the Bob Cat going threw my trash cans! fritz FLIPPED Bob cat leeped ran off into the woods (the same ones i JUST came out of which struck me as hysterical cause i couldnt stop laughing) but here is the thing....after the inital lunge....I yelled FRITZ! NO! HEAL!..... and he HEALED!!!!
So im not sure which lunge did it, but my backs out and I cant stand or sit straight and my puter chair is not to comfortable at the best of times so I may need a few days recovery but i can sit now so ill check back in every morning....just keep me posted

Re: To move or not to move?
Gaia, here is the link for the phpbb: www.phpbb.com/ That is where my brother downloaded his php web templates & stuff to put on his own domain. On our new board, we opted for the phpbbforfree because I was not sure we had enough space on our own domain to host it and wasn't sure about the bandwidth use (we pay for extra bandwidth already, just with the website). When you download the web templates, etc., you get a lot more freedom to post your own graphics, etc. My brother's board is kick-ass.. What is Real?
Hope this helps..
