Traditional music in Youtube
I thought we could use this thread to post videos/song samples of traditional Albanian music, and I'll start with the lahuta.
I believe, and I think many agree with me, that the lahuta is among the oldest instruments and ways of singing in the Balkans. It is very archaic, and promoting its survival is important imho. I do not think there are too many who still can execute lahuta songs in today's society, Ēun Lajqi being a few of those.
First video - song is called "Mejdani i Mujit me balozin" (battle between Muji & the baloz). The songer is Llesh Prekushi, true highlander.
Second song: song is called "Po bjen era gjamet e motit" (cannot translate the title), performed by the brothers Kola & Nush Buēi.

Here is another song performed by Prentash Nilaj. The title of the song does not say. It is about the Cycle of Frontier Warriors (Kreshniket).
Another song titled "Ajkuna kjan Omerin" (Ajkuna mourns Omer) performed by Lek Ndou. The song is about Muji's son, Omer, who dies and is being mourned by his mother Ajkuna.
Shqipėria ka qenė
dhe do tė jetė,
po sot nė ditėt tona
tė metė tė mos ketė.
E ka nderuar Zoti
gjithėnjė Shqipėrinė
ish fort mirė qėmoti,
do bėhet dhe taninė.

Now some southern music, from Fier (per ty Fan Noli); Grupi i Fierit with the song "Ne brezaret e qershive".
This next one is for Rex and Iliri i Madh. The sound is a little bad, but God does my heart melt when I hear how good they sing. Incredible, and I do not know if they are professionals.Kenga Prespare performed in a wedding in Australia.

those are average guys singing ...know a few of em ...
our last generation (and past) prespars were all great singers ...nowadays dwindling away with the newer generations sadly to say ......blame it on the diaspora thingy ...
in 1969 was my first visit to Prespa.....after dinner everyone take turns singing (even while working on fields)....No TV back then in most homes ...then in 1970 they have TV...less and less singing ....

opa ti na na ..opa
Fighting for a nazi, cetnik and taliban Free world..and possibly zionists

I love this first song... Manastir Ilirida 1960s
They are related to me, and in the video standing on the left side is that guy that used to come to this forum "THOTI's" father, and his grandfather is the one dancing...His origins are from Kolonja and Drenica.
Kranjė, Prespa, Ilirida 1959
Some gypsies from Rexxies village playing some nice music...Typical Prespa music...The drums sound like Kosovar drums, but the gėrnetė is typical korca kolonja style music.
Kranjė Prespa Ilirida 1959
Some of them my mom knows, anyways, these are typical traditional iso polyphonic singing and traditional dancing from Kranje Prespa...
