Transformers Comics
Did you know that the original few Transformers comics had a Spider Man cross-over? God, it was stupid.

I've heard as much about it.

You should have your personal picture be the cartoon Skeletor, not the one from the movie.

Re: I LOVE FORNICATION!
Yeah, that was issue 3, I believe. I still have that issue.
It's worse than the GI Joe-Transformers crossover.

Now I have to think of something to say....

You have the comics? I read them on the web. The issues I really wanted when I was a little boy were the special 3 or 4 issues that had stats on all the Transformers ever. (those issues aren't on the web - that I could find :( I would think that a Spider Man cross over would HAVE to be worse than a GI JOE one, but I didn't even know there was a GI Joe cross over. There wasn't any reason for Spider Man to even be in that issue. He just was. If I wrote a SM/Transformers cross over it could be sort of cool - cooler than the "real" crossover. (though I'd prefer to not do one at all). I'd have Devastator step on Spider Man. Squish.

Yeah, I have all the issues up until 35 or so. Then the same thing happened as with the GI Joe series....too many characters, which led to thinner plots, which led to me being bored. Actually, there WAS a reason for including Spider Man...so Spider Man freaks would buy transformers comics. My favorite issues were 5 (the one after Shockwave killed everybody), and the one (I forget the number) featuring Joey Slick, the guy who found an amnisiac Megatron and went on a crime spree.
Were those Transformer comics with the stats called "Order of Battle"? That's what Marvel called the GI Joe issues of the same ilk. There were 4 issues that listed all the Joes, each with a little bio.

Re: I LOVE FORNICATION...with FO!! (I bet you do!)
When I was in San Francisco a couple of years back, I stopped at a comics store and bought a rerelease of the first few issues of Transformers collected in nice hardcover volume (and it miraculously survived the fire). But I never found any collections of later issues in hardcover in our town.

FO did get some other Transformer series that were written by some British people. One was definitely unrelated to the original run, and was self-contained in about 13 or however many episodes (and perhaps 2 volumes of a collection).

If I recall the story, it was about sentient rust attacking all of the Transformers, and the species was about to be wiped out.

The Transformers might have had a plan to protect some of them (like the rust cure that was featured in the cartoon series), but I don't remember.

In any case, Optimus Prime decided against the cure, and sacrificed himself to the rust. However, when it ate him, the rust species somehow read his thoughts, or also absorbed his emotions, and learned of his incredible and overriding compassion for others. This enlightened the rust, and it somehow restored Optimus and the others.

It was okay (though funny how Optimus has to die in every story arc), but I never felt the need to reread it after finishing it.

The other comics were older, and involved time travel from the post-movie and pre-movie eras. The most bizarre episode was one that had a flashback in a flashback in a flashback, only you don't realize that until the end. Until then, it seems like the story is simply incoherent, jumping all over the place.

I didn't like those very much. I thought it was pretty stupid when the Autobots managed to get Megatron and Galvatron to fight. That would only have been possible if you're willing to grant that both of them are complete idiots.

The Marvel line also had a story like that, except the vermin were tiny, tiny transformers that went from nuts and bolts to robots. They were called scraplets.

The cure for scraplets? Water.
