For those who do not understand, it's about an old Albanian colony around the river Evros in Thrace, Greece. In the 17th century, these Orthodox Albanians' ancestors left the region of Kolonja in Albania and settled in what is now Turkey, around Edirne (Adrianopolis). In 1920, they were expelled from Turkey under the pretext of being 'Greeks' (because of their Orthodoxy), and thus they settled in 14 villages alongside the river Evros. There, some 30,000 Albanians who still speak language and who still call themselves Albanians still live. Amazing. The names of some of the villages were Feres, Tiqero, Poro, Ardhanjo (Greek sp?). ___________________ Vëllezër Shqipëtarë, të prekim urtësinë, të zëm udhën e mbarë, të ngjallim Shqipërinë. That would have been better, but nobody thought of such a thing then PS: Their Albanian sounds horrible. They speak it like its Greek... Ugh, all those soft sounds really makes it hard to understand anything... The last guy, the relative of Fan Noli, the way he spoke Alb he could have been a family member of mine. A pleasant surprise, however, was their consciousness in regards to their origins. They still called themselves Albanians and even went back to Albania for visit. Much more than one could say about the Arvanites. On to another related subject; Mandrica.
