Walking your talk...
I'm putting this under this topic, because to me, walking my talk is being a Shaman...It's about action. Anyway..... Would anyone like to share examples of how we walk our talk... Not a brag thread, but sharing some of the challenges we have met up against and how our spirituality, whatever that may be, has helped us walked through it... Examples of how your beliefs help you be the best person you can be.

For example... one of the principles of Huna (a major part of my belief structure) is that there is always another way to do everything. This simple belief has opened so many doors for me because whenever I find myself at a dead end... I look for other ways to do things... and wa-la there is a new option....

To give a more specific example ... My 17-year-old daughter is facing college choices and was making herself sick about not meeting certain requirements to get into a program she wanted. It felt terrifying to her.... once we sat down and I showed her that if she didn't make it in to the program the normal way, that she could start at a community college and transfer after the first year,,, or etc, etc... This helped dissipate her fears and once the fears where gone... she was able to be productive again.... (And had NO problem getting into the program...) This is an example of how “my” beliefs/spirituality works in my life.

Anyone else?

Hey lady

the number of these events for me are almost too many too count... but heres one....

I gent whom I met on IM just recently.......during our frist converstaion I saw to the root of discontent in his life ( guilt over being a survior of vitanam..) and sat for some three hours talking to him about it... and from that day to now he has opened up and shed one burden after another....and sends me pretty notes all the time of how grateful he is to have met me...

I have learned that if I stay still I can see..... and if I am calm and let the MOther speak thur me I can say the right words when they need to be said for some soul who needs it ... I feel this way its one of the main reasons I am here to be the voice in the dark that sheds some light once in a while.... and if I can then my life is well spent...

What an awesome Topic sky!

I would have to think on this one, but what comes to mind off hand is strength.

I was brought up that women were weak, we needed to find a strong man to take care of us and to birth up lots of pretty babies in payment of this protection.

I see it differently now. When I think of what the Mother has blessed me with, I realize, had I not been strong, had I not been woman, i would not have been chosen for any thing i have done. Childbirth is horrendous pain...if I am weak....why was I chosen for this honor? I am beginning to learn to explore and embrace my own strengths, not just to make sure those around me feel strong. I can embolden my friends, strengthen my children, and support all those I love all without compromising my own strength.

I think had I not Been who and what I am, I would not have paid attention to my Harpy dreams and would have never learned this lesson. I have always been big on personal power, Being a Gaian Witch strengthens and reminds me The I to have a right to claim and embrace my own strength and not feel guilty about being able to take care of myself.

I still have yet to learn to say more with less words:giggles
Life is all about lessons right?:snick

The sustainability of nature is an integral part of my path. Making the time to recharge & connect with natural life, whether it be a walk in the woods or a few minutes with a container plant on the porch is of so much benefit to me. Most of my lessons come from nature. One example - watching the phoebe who built a moss & mud nest over the doorway that fell 4 times before she finally got it to stay put helped me with the strength & focus needed to save up and get some of my own home repairs accomplished. If a tiny bird can overcome such adversity and make a home, so can I.

It is spring now where I live, and the weather changes that come with it remind me of the process of giving birth, the difficulty & hardships that are followed by ease & good times. Watching the trees leafing out and budding gives me such a sense of confidence & energy - a reminder that no matter how hard things get sometimes, they do eventually improve, and there can be such joy to be found in the act of simply moving through our daily lives.

When I take the time to connect to nature in even such small ways, I am much calmer & capable and of more benefit to myself and those around me. My older daughter graduates from college this weekend and is moving out of state next week to take a job in her chosen profession. I am very attuned right now to wild mamas who have managed to successfully raised their little ones and sent them out into the world. There's a few heart-tugs, but it feels mighty fine.

Yes, I totally agree, our mother earth has always been a wonderful teacher for me. As my son moves toward graduation from high school (next year) and gets ready for his move out to California to go to his chosen college, I have to look to the birds for wisdom. They raise their kids, then push them out of the nest to learn to fly on their own. This is going to be a lesson I will need to learn over and over simply because it is one I don't really want to learn.........
I also feel best when my hands are digging in the soil without benefit of trowel - screw the manicure! I don't even bother to worry about that......it just feels sooooo good. :cloud9 The connection to the earth helps me to think.
