Week #111 (Feb 16 - Feb 22)
Current Guild Ranking (20th): Late Velious Era
We took down Vindi this week (again), and had a few mini's in the Plane of Storm for desert. We did a little rescue mission on the Plane of Fear (which brought back memories of some of the "early days" in AIF). Even better, we've added more members to the AIF ranks, with 3 new recruits this past week! Woo-hoo! Keep the Faith, Avengers!
Headline News
- Vindi Drops Again! We dropped Derakor the Vindicator again this past Friday, just to prove our first stab at him last week wasn't a lucky fluke! Congratz Aiwu on looting Vindi's head, someone got the boots, but I wasn't paying attention because I was setting up for our next mission ...
- Rescue Mission on the Plane of Fear: AIF has long held a strong kinship with Brigade, a guild on the Rathe server. Many AIF members grew up and trained under the Brigade banner, and still hold strong kinships there. Brigade had their first raid in the Plane of Fear this week, and as we all know from our past experiences, that break-in can be nasty. After the fourth or fifth wipe, raid members are cranky and just want to get their bodies and go home. Sokimoto called on AIF to help with the Fear break and corpse retrieval. We had a few more mobs on our Friday night hit list, but this was too important a request to ignore -- AIF answered the call. Sokimoto sent a special Thank You to the rescue team.
- New Epic MOB in the Plane of Fear: Just when the Plane of Fear was becoming something trivial for AIF, something we could do with a single group (heck, Ainolin and Nuamas duo'd the Fear break in once), SOE tossed in a MOB that makes it quite a bit more challenging. The Ireblind Imp, always accompanied by a half-dozen smaller imps named "Essence of Rage", has a 500' radius Shocking Aura (AE Mezz) effect. When aggro'd he mezzes every 5 ticks, with a duraion of 4 ticks -- so you've only get a few seconds to get your licks in! He's a tough egg to crack, and makes the Fear break-in a lot more interesting than it used to be. I can't wait to add this one to the hit list!
- What do you like to do when not raiding? In another of Cabula's now infamous surveys, 45% of AIF members overwhelmingly supported LDON adventures as their favorite non-raiding activity. In the Ivory Tower, a bunch of Avengers have listed their favorite LDON Equipment Search Tool links. In descending order of interest, when they aren't raiding, AIF members favor working on quests (25%), XP grinding (16%), and 8% opted for just any old fun thing -- as long as they were doing it with the AIF crew.
- Bashin' Storm Giants: Raphayl organized another bashin' of the Storm Giants in the Plane of Storms, to help AIF members complete their flagging for the Bastion of Thunder. Everyone attending got their Storm Giant heads, and many others recieved the sashes needed from the forest area giants. Congratz, AIF -- and thanks for organizing these hunting parties, Raphy!
- Bastion of Thunder Towers: Solaxx has referenced a great Strategy Guide for the raiding the towers in the Bastion of Thunder. All that remains now is to get AIF members keyed for the towers and we can organize some nice raids up there. This is an "all call" to raid-minded leaders in the guild (Solaxx, this includes you!) -- organize some BoT hunting groups so we can get members keyed for the towers.
