Current Guild Ranking (18th): Mid Velious Era
Despite a week full of login frustrations because of a broken login server, AIF managed to do quite a lot! We killed three (3) RTA rotations in a single week, and still found time to knock off items on our Planar Hunting List.
Headline News
- AIF and EvD in the Sandbox: This week marked a new level in friendship between Evolutia Draconis and Avengers in Faith. We've been talking with these folks "behind the scenes" for a little while now, and for the past 1-2 weeks, we've been doing more and more in each other's company. People have been asking if we plan to form an alliance, or even to merge with EvD. I don't want to keep anyone in the dark about this, so suffice to say that we're having "friendly talks" and we are getting to know each other. It's usually a good idea to court and date someone for a short while before you get married to them. Where this "relationship" might lead is not clear, but it has been a lot of fun doing things with them this past week. And since fun is what the game is all about, we'll keep up the talks.
- AIF Knocks Trak's Teeth Out! On Sunday, it was another descent into Old Sebilis as AIF faced off against Trakanon. Trakanon is an important dragon, because he drops the last component needed for access into Veeshan's Peak. At one point, Veeshan's Peak was the most challenging zone of all Everquest, though it isn't nearly on the scale of recent Everquest expansions. Still, killing dragons is fun, and Veeshan's Peak is rumored to have plenty of them. Congratz to Allyssa, Nuamas, Sceaduwulf and Shantar on your Trak Teeth and keys to Veeshan's Peak.
- Zlandicar Popped and Dropped: As if one RTA Rotation Mob wasn't enough, the next night we jumped into Dragon Necropolis for AIF's scheduled run against Zlandicar! We invited a group of EvD folks along for the whirlwind tour of Dragon Necropolis, and they had tons of fun with us. We got some nice equipment upgrades on the way down, including an Exquisite Silk Turban (Obsidiun), a Phase Spider Carapace (Soullbash), Cowl of Mortality (Serket), Frakadar's Talisman (Fiondra), Zlandicar's Heart (Chrosbrillen-EvD), and Zlandicar's Talisman (Sarneho).
- Klandicar Dropped in Western Wastes: As if TWO (2) RTA Rotation Mobs weren't enough in one week, we dropped Klandicar last night in Western Wastes! This was our second run against the dragon, and we didn't have nearly the difficulty we had when qualifying for the rotation. Klandicar dropped on the first attempt -- those insta-click items made a HUGE difference, from all accounts! If you don't have an insta-click item in your Raid Gear bag, you need to get one!! After Klandicar dropped, we helped Nefarrio kill Myga and loot some dragon blood from her corpse. The Dragon Blood is used in a powerful "dragon-bane" spell, that does 2K damage to certain named dragons (unresistable) -- looking forward to some more dragon killing with THAT spell in our arsenal!
- Derekor the Vindicator Dies: After the Klandicar killing, a few AiF and EvD saw their faction with the Claws of Veeshan take a small dip, so we decided to make a quick run to the Kael Arena to fix that faction. To our delight, Derakor the Vindicator was at his post in the Temple of Rallos Zek. A raid force of AiF and EvD stood side-by-side, and dropped Vindi with all his arena henchmen -- it was a blast, and a great way to end a very successful raid week! Congratz to Kardeen on her Boots of the Vindicator! Soullbash snagged himself an Eroded Leather Tunic, and Fiondra snagged all the arena drops she needs for the Helm of the Tracker!
- Plane of Justice Flagging: We organized a Trials Flagging night in the Plane of Justice Monday, and got five more Avengers on the first leg to Planar Progression. Congratz to Serket, Magsham, Soullbash, Rakka and Rusco.
- AIF / EvD Hit the Plane of Storms Like a Tsunami! Over the weekend, we had both guilds in the Plane of Storms, bashing on Ocean Storm Giants and Diaku Raiders. Members from both AiF and EvD joined in the fun. EvD was able to get another full group flagged for Plane of Tactics after a 9-hour marathon hunting session in the desert. AiF spent the morning in lounging near the oceanside and got Storm Giant Heads and Storm Volaas Beards for a bunch of folks working on their Bastion of Thunder quest. Getting Storm Giant Heads: Allyssa, Astarin, Davey, Soullbash, Rakka, Ranora, and Vladthethird. Getting Storm Volaas Beards for their BoT quest: Allyssa, Astarin, Davey, Serket, Soullbash, and Vladthethird. Congratz guys! We'll be doing a few more hunting sessions in Storms to help those working on this Planar Progression quest this week.
- Knocking the Breath Out of Gwan: A small group of AIF got together with a small group of EvD this past week, and took a trip up to the Plane of Sky. There we visited the Nobles Isle, and helped EvD Monk Scena take Gwan's breath away!! Congratz, Sister Scena!
- Foiled During First Attack Run Against Maenetic Behemoth: We joined EvD with for our first attempt at the Maenetic Behemoth in the Plane of Innovation this past Friday. This is an important encounter, because it allows a larger raid force to become flagged for the Plane of Tactics with a single kill (rather than the alternative Diaku hunting in the Plane of Storms). We mustered an impressive raid force (8 groups), but we took a nasty wipe on the first attempt and Behemoth despawned before we could get back to him. The encounter was not a complete loss -- we learned tons, updated our strat guides, and will be back after this MOB as soon as we spy him up again!
- Sarneho Inducted to the Halls of Honor: Sarneho called a group of AIF up to the Plane of Nightmare, and we had a great time smashing through the hobgoblin and mephit caves. This is a GREAT place to explore if you can get a nice strong group to come along with you (we had a solid group of 60-65's, and it was challenging in some spots). There are also some nice mini's to camp down here, and we promised to come back with a larger raid group soon. The purpose of the trip was to get Sarneho's last drop (a heart from a mephit) for the Halls of Honor flag. Congratz, Sarne!
- Tigran Hunts Vex Thal Shards: Vex Thal hasn't been forgotten, and Tigran's continued to collect lucid shards all this past week. It's a good example for all to follow, because I guarantee this guild WILL be walking in Vex Thal someday! Most of the shards dropped for the Vex Thal key can be solo'd, so it's something to keep you busy while wearing that /LFG tag! Tig got his Kelera Shard from Sanctus Seru, his Lor shard from Dawnshroud Peaks, and his Dax shard from Akheva Ruins. Kudo's, Tig!
