 Welcome to the Amputee Horseback Riders Forum!
I created this bulletin board in response to the numerous emails I started receiving after investigating options for myself as an above knee amputee.
I found that there was no centralized, specialized information area for amputees of any type that ride or work around horses. I heard from amputees, prosthetists, therapists, trainers and many others who either had some suggestions or questions about riding.
I am currently in contact with the Amputee Coalition of America and the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association to develop a group or committe specifically for amputee riders. Until that comes to fruition, we can use this bulletin board to meet and shares ideas.
This bulletin board is for anyone involved with amputees who ride, drive or just enjoy horses.
Please abide by these rules:
1) Courtesy, ALWAYS
2) NO SPAM, cussing, obscenity, or pornographic posts
3) To have Posting Privileges, you must Register with ezBoard. There is a link to Register at the top of the page. Creating an ezBoard acount is free and will allow you to post here.
4) Please introduce yourself after you register. Tell us about your amputation, your horses, hobbies, or if you are a therapist, prosthetist, etc. Only give as much personal info as you feel comfortable - posting priveliges are by approval, but the board is available for public viewing.
Most of all - have fun, meet others, ask questions, share stories!!
