Welcome to the COTES Cooking Club!
Rules??? We dont need no stinking rules!! Ok there are a few itty bitty titty weetty ones.
1) Share your recipes.
2) Each month we all will add our own recipe to this thread. When you choose a recipe, tag it as your own. IE: I want Iris's crab cakes this month! That way everyone gets an origanl recipe each month. All recipes in this thread are fair game for subsequent months. You can, for example, take HillClimbers June Recipe as your own for november but do not use a recipe twice.
3) Give back....Each month when you make your dishes, make an extra one for a local shelter. Domestic Violence shelters live in a community environment where the women all share in the chores. By donateing a main course, they can be given a little downtime. If you dont have time for a big dish, simply giving back to the animal community will work also! Smearing a rice cake with peanut butter then pressing it into seeds berries and nuts then setting it in a bird feeder or in a tree provides an esy meal for birds!! Use your imagination to give back what we have been blessed with!
4) Experiment! If you can, improve on my recipe!
5) Teach what you know. Got an easy way to make chocolate leaves for garnish? share it!
6) Learn! What the hell does cut into until crumbly mean? Ask, someone is bound to know!
7) Have funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Re: Welcome to the COTES Cooking Club!
This is such a cool idea.... It's going to be so much fun. I work with Kentucky Harvest and have seen how greatfull people are when someone donates food. I go to an A.A. shelter for men about twice a day with stuff and they are always so happy to see the stuff I have from places like KFC and some of the schools send things. This is great stuff we're going

Re: Welcome to the COTES Cooking Club!
Spiced Pumpkin Pie
1/4 cup of honey
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of canned pumpkin
1 cup Half-and-Half
1 well beaten egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons dried cayenne
2 tablespoons ground pecans
1 carton heavy cream
1 ready-made pie crust
Preheat the oven to 425.
Combine all ingredients in a mixing blow, and beat until smooth. Pour into ready-made pie crust. Bake for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350 and continue baking for another 35 minutes or so. When a fork inserted into the middle of the pie comes out clean, the pie is done. Cool on a rack and serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
