I really enjoyed it. It was true enough to the comics to satisfy comics fans while still being accessible to people who don't read the comics. It actually came out a lot better than I expected since comics movies are usually notoriously bad. The effects were great, the acting was good, the movie was excellently cast, and the fights were good. My only major complaint was their portrayal of Mystique. I like her a lot better in the comics than the movie. I think Patrick Stewart was born to play Professor X, and Hugh Jackman did an excellent job with my favorite, Wolverine. I certainly didn't think it was too short. The movie hovered around 2 hours, which is nothing to sneeze at. The ending did leave it open to sequels, but that was intentional. They planned to make it a trilogy if the first movie went over big (which it did). I wouldn't worry about returning actors either since all the major people signed up for the two sequels when they agreed to do the first one.
