Hi, Sherry!
I've heard that's an excellent book...have not read it yet but plan to.
I just checked a book out called "Animals of the Soul" by Joseph Epes Brown. Brown is one of the most prolific and noted authors who wrote about Indian issues, lifeways and belief systems. This particular book looks at sacred animals of the Oglala Sioux (Brown lived with the Oglala for quite a number of years and wrote about what he learned and lived).
I just started the book, and one of the things I like about it the most so far is that he takes care in explaining the place of the animals in the Oglala worldview. That concept is most important in trying to understand the power and position of the animals in the People's belief system.
I'll give an update when I finish the book.

Yes Ladiravenmoon, Animal Speak by Ted Andrews is an awesome book, I could'nt be without it!! He also has another book called Animal Spirit, that is my next one. That one has more of the harder to find animals, like big cats, giraffes, animals like that!! We encounter so many different animals, in dream, and in our daily lives, that I love to know what message or lesson that animal has for me!!
