dilemma
hey guys...
l've been going over something in my mind for the last couple weeks, and for some reason l can't seem to find an answer.
the problem is the book l'm writing.
l've been working on it for close to two years, l think, and it's taken a lot of effort. thing is the fact that l'm not happy with it the way it is... or l wasn't. now, l've written several new versions of the prologue, but if l redo it, l can't keep a lot of the parts l like... however, the writing for the origonal (l still have it,) is fairly immature...
l could post the different versions, and probably will, but is it even worth continuing?
l'm getting frustrated with it, but at the same time, l dont wanna abandon raven or Mika (my fave characters.)
please help? lol

Re: dilemma
The only thing I am afraid of is that if you are frustrated with it as it is now you may wind up with writers block. What I would do if it were me (and I am not a writer - just so you know) is go through what you have and save any really inspired sentences and phrases and then scrap the whole thing except for your characters. It is sometimes easier to tear down and rebuild than remodel. Just my two cents.

Re: dilemma
hmm.
no, that makes sense...
in fact, it makes a lot of sense..now why didn't l think of that? probably cus l dont wanna do it... lol. doesn't mean l wont, though... just that the idea of the amount of work it's going to take is kinda... um... scary. *cries* lol.
oh well... sounds like one idea... even if l dont deside to start ALL over, it would be good to find the parts like that that l need, wouldn't it? thanx, narsh...

Re: dilemma
ok here is a bit of advice....character maps. sometimes you can merge a character or two, preserving the story you want to tell, but trimming the fat of unneccesary story bits.. to write about a person you have to create a person, a history, fears, trials and tirumphs childhood the works....because sooner or later ALL thse things come up for major characters. I can teach you how to do this if you want. once the characters begin to take on a face, the story line begins to click. it is VERY hard to delete a character....its a kin to lkilling your own child.... Just take urself a break, and look at it fresh....the rewrites are always the hardest....and the finished project rarely looks like the beginning lol
good luck sweety!
