Re: earthnann
My main interests are sustainability and helping humans remember how to co-exist with and care for this planet – I believe moving on to the stars will not be a positive experience (okay, so that’s an understatement) until we re-learn this lesson. I work toward helping people learn to use tech to work with nature instead of stubbornly trying to use tech to control nature – I don’t think our species will survive if we cannot achieve that balance.
Being how as I started young and am well on my way toward being old, I’ve sampled pretty much a little bit of everything. I’m not much for taking classes – more of a hands-on one-on-one learner. I have a lot of books, but tend to use them as a jump-off point or occasional reference. I like real life total immersion stuff. It occasionally bites hard, but it’s so much more interesting – and rewarding. I’ve been blessed over the years with many, many teachers from all walks of life, including my children and wild animals (sometimes indistinguishable, I must admit). I’m not real good with cards – I do better with energy than I do with symbols of energy. I don’t direct, I blend into and flow with. I like plants (that’s probably obvious by now). My life lesson is balance – I’ve been working on that one for decades, and have yet a very long way to go. Although I’ve been on line for awhile, internet communication is still new and awkward to me, possibly because I didn’t grow up with it, and possibly because there is such limited sensory input. I sometimes have trouble with spatial relationships – for example, I can’t play chess online unless I have a board set up next to me. I am occasionally thrilled and enthralled by all this computer stuff, but when it comes down to it, I adore sensual reality.
Thanks for asking!

Re: earthnann
As they were leaving the nest? A couple are still here, but: Everything I could stuff into them – read the fine print, never put your bathroom rugs in the dryer, if money ain’t in your pocket, you ain’t got it, if it says “dry clean only” don’t buy it unless you’re ready for a major commitment, when you rent an apartment if they don’t put it in writing it probably ain’t happening, if you get any pets, putting incompatible species in the same enclosed habitat will only lead to trouble……
Many lessons I’ve tried to teach them, but the real basics can mostly fit into these:
1. I’ve tried to teach them as much as I know about love in all its forms and hope they will always be open to giving and receiving it.
2. I’ve tried to teach them to always be aware of their intent (stuff like remembering that “an it harm none” includes self, and having a nonjudgmental understanding of “benefit” would probably fit here) and to always be willing to go back and re-examine their intent when problems arise.
3. I’ve tried to teach them as much as I know of free will (how to control yourself - how to refrain from allowing others to control you, how to refrain from allowing yourself to control others) and how to incorporate that into the first two.
I’m not entirely satisfied with the job I’m doing because I’m teaching by example and I’m still working on all those things - parenting is a work in progress and there’s always room for improvement – but I’m damn proud of what they’ve done with what they came in with and what I’ve given them to work with so far. It is an amazing transformation, to go from feeling that first spark inside you to seeing an adult making his/her way in the world. I am so blessed to be able to experience it.
