Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Staring after her, Raekal sneered and shook his head as the door closed. Good riddance, as far as he was concerned at the moment. He had tried so hard to make her see only as much as she needed to . . . the more that knew how far Andor had slipped, the worse off the world was. Even Saker and his men didn't know. Raekal sighed, straightening up his office, picking up the papers and restacking them before walking to the window and looking out, preparing to head back. He saw Brenna walking towards the Gardens, and smiled evilly.
Seizing saidin, he channeled quickly, deft threads of air, smacking her on the bottom repeatedly. She hopped and jumped in midair, spinning around and hopping again as another smack landed home. Her eyes went up to the office in which he stood, and he waved at her through the plane of glass, opening the gateway behind him and stepping back through to the field of battle, smiling in satisfaction to himself. The spanking he had given her made him feel much, much better . . .
Heading towards the inn where he had left the Aes Sedai, he mentally prepared himself for another potentially frustrating conversation. As much as these Aes Sedai would refuse to believe it at first, he was not here to make enemies. And he would help them understand that in time. He stepped inside, glancing around, making sure everything was as he left it, then walked over to Alexia, who was awake, slightly. He sat before her, studying her for a moment. "How do you feel?" he asked at last.

Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Brenna walked a path in the gardens as she rubbed at her behind. She muttered every curse word she knew. She completely forgot about what she was going to do to devise a way to get back at Raek. He hurts her feelings then her backside. He was so in for some very hurtful revenge. Then suddenly an idea began to form and she left the gardens and headed for her rooms.
Yawning slightly, Alexia watched Raekal come toward her. He walked as if he had just something great and she was sure she did not want to know what it was. He sat in front her with a weary look on his face and Alexia just stared at him.
"How do you feel?"
"Like I drank forkroot." When he gave her an annoyed look she stifled another yawn. "Oh wait you wished for a different sort of response... Let's see I feel very upset because I am being held against my will by the men of the Black Tower. Or I feel very very afraid over the fact that the powerful Asha'man felt the need to weaken me then call me a guest?" She snorted over the last one. The look he gave her was comical and she grew tired suddenly. "I hope you did not think I would just sit here and have a gracious conversation. I'm a kidnapped guest who had been fed forkroot. Let us keep that in mind while we talk to pleasantly to each other."
Raekal looked to leave and Alexia sighed. Her anger was not needed now. "I apologize for that. Sometimes I can be... impatient when I want to get answers. Not that from the look on your face you wish to answer anything." She held up her hand to keep him in his seat. "Again I apologize. Say what it is you have to say. I will listen and keep my emotions in check."

Raekal hid a small smile. He would make headway with her yet. "I apologize for the forkroot, Aes Sedai. It was felt neccessary by some to keep you silent while we dealt with a rather large and real threat. Also, I believe that this entire ordeal has gotten off on the wrong foot.Let us try again . . ."
He rose, and nodded to the other Asha'man, who unraveled the shields on the Aes Sedai and stepped back against one wall, waiting with their arms across their chest. "It'll be a while before you can channel right again, but I give you my word right here and now that you will never again be shielded or forkrooted by any Asha'man. I hope that we can come to . . . a very civilized agreement to not do harm to one another. After all, both of us stand to profit by cooperating by one another." He sat back, waiting to see how she would react to this before going on.

Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Suspicion of Raekal's motives was at the forfront of her mind when he made such a gracious announcement. As soon as she had been unshielded she tried to touch the Source and was relieved. She did not care that he knew she was relieved. What was worrying her was this talk of a possible alliance.
She heard the other Aes Sedai silently talk amongst themselves then she turned her attention back to the Asha'man. "What kind of cooperation would benefit both our Towers?" She was proud of herself for not making a face about the Black Tower. She had only heard rumors of how the place looked but it was completely unreal to her that they dared to even build such a thing.

Raekal smiled, leaning back in his chair a bit as he spread his hands. His light blue eyes flickered past Alexia to land on each of the Aes Sedai individually. His blond bangs hanging in front of his eyes accented their piercing quality, and each looked away before he turned his attention back to Alexia. "I believe that is a question that will be better answered elsewhere. For now, all I will say is this: you know Asha'man as threats, barely controlled warriors and bringers of death. While you're partially right, we are not barely controlled. We are well in control of ourselves, and we are more of a threat to the Shadow than anything else in this land." He leaned back forwards, folding his hands together on the table. "Would you like to see what we have done?"

Re: Four Kings (BAND)"Would you like to see what we have done?"
Alexia scanned Raekal's eyes for anything that remotely clued her in on a trap and found nothing. She was unsure of what was happening here but she would keep her small bit of excitement to herself. If he was offering something real and not some sort of joke that he could play on the White Tower then she had an obligation to find out what it was.
"All right I and my sisters will go with you."

Raekal nodded, smiling slightly as he leaned back in his chair. "Good, good. I think this will prove to be well worth your time." He turned to the other Asha'man, who nodded, channeled, opening gateways behind them. They stepped backwards through them, snapped salutes, and the gateways snapped shut. Raekal looekd at Alexia curiously. The Aes Sedai were not able to Travel yet, and the Asha'man were not very . . . willing to tell them how they had figured it out. Raekal wondered if the Aes Sedai found this fact . . . annoying. "You may wish to speak to your sisters. Assure them that they will not be harmed, that they are indeed guests of honor. We expect in return for our hospitality, that you will return the favor and not act violently towards any of our men. Or women." He frowned inwardly. Light, he was going to have a really hard time keeping Brenna away from Alexia . . .

Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Alexia gave Raekal a curious look at his comment then waved it away. It was none of her concern and right now she was more interested in what would happen next.
With a nod to Raekal and the other Asha'man she made her way over to the other three Aes Sedai with her. All three looked as if they were at their wits end. Sanora of the Gray was wringing her hands and watching the Asha'man while Ghanima, a Brown, grounded her teeth together. Nelita was outward calm but every time Raekal looked her way she looked as if she would melt into a puddle or run to him. Greens were peculiar like that. She order them to come close, "It appears as if we are going to the Black Tower." Startled looks from all three made Alexia hurry through the explanations. "There is no need to worry. Only I command all three of you to not embrace Saidar. Not even once! If we give them any indication we mean to use it we will be dead."
"But don't they know we our beholden to the 3 oaths? We could not harm any of them unless attacked." Sanora stated as she looked back at Raekal.
"Of course they know that but they are a bunch of children just ready to pounce on us if given the chance."Ghanima ground out in anger. Alexia vowed to keep a watch on her. She was never the nicest Brown she had ever met and she would not change even though her life was in peril. "Enough of this. Do as i tell you. As of now we are four ambassdors here to make some sort of peace with the Asha'man." All three made to speak but Alexia cut them off. "You will act like Aes Sedai form now on. The situation is a tense one but one I am sure all three of you can handle. Understood?" All three nodded and Alexia turned away from them and lead them over to Raekal. Her eyes glanced over toward where one of the gateways had been and she regarded the area curiously. One day she will figure out how to do that with Saidar.
"We are ready to go Raekal."

Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Raekal smiled, nodded, and turned, saidin rushing through him in a powerful river. A silver gateway slashed open, and he stepped to one side, motioning the others to go ahead before him. He had chosen the location of where they came out carefully--all they would see so far was a bunch of trees all around them. He planned on that being all they saw until he brought them to the gates. And from there . . . well. The Tower itself had a very nasty habit of jumping out from behind the trees and making itself very suddenly well known.
Stepping through after them, he left the gateway snap shut. "As you all know, these are the woods that surround the Black Tower and our Grounds. We generally don't travel directly into the Grounds themselves--it can result some very nasty cuts." He started off walking down a narrow path through the trees, and they followed him in a small clump. The feel of saidin soaked this place--a few months ago, this had been nothing but a barren burnt field where two, or more, Forsaken had thrown their might at the Tower's walls. And nearly broken through . . . and Daylen had died . . .
But Aran, and Raekal, did not like the look of the dead skeletal trees surrounding their walls, and ordered that they pull new trees from the earth, and so they had, working for nearly two weeks to bathe this place in new trees and bushes that looked as if they had been there for hundreds of years. The result was most pleasing; the added secrecy to the Tower was an added benefit that no one could have guessed at.
They rounded a corner, and the bush gave way to a gently curving road. They walked on it for only a few minutes until the gates suddenly loomed before them, higher than the walls that surrounded the White Tower, and made of the purest black marble that gleamed in the sun. Asha'man sentries were intermixed with men from teh Legion that stood at attention, spears at their shoulders.
"Hail!" they shouted down, and Raekal nodded back, returning their salute. The men before had brought word of the Aes Sedai's coming; no one would be surprised. Raekal stepped through the gates, and they swung shut behind them. To either side, the walls curved away into the trees, men walking along the tops continuosly.
"As you can see," Raekl said to Alexia, falling into step next to her, "we take security seriously around here. We have been tested too many times recently." Alexia merely nodded, staring around them at the still-wooded areas. They walked on, trees surrounding them once more, and then they walked out of them into the middle of the Legion's camp. Tents were strung in both directions, horses on lines, men field-testing a ways off, marching in units under the watchful eyes of their commanders. Raekal smiled, looking up at the most glorious sight that now hit his eyes--that of the Black Tower itself, stretching for the sky, gleaming black, spires sweeping from the top. "Aes Sedai. May I direct your attention towards our home. The Black Tower."

Re: Four Kings (BAND)
Alexia had to close her mouth a few seconds after she saw the sight of the Black Tower. It amazed her what has been done here. Her thoughts seemed to jump form one thing to anohter as she analyzed and took in every spire every, magnificant side of what she could see of theplace. It was beautiful but yet terrifing. If Raekal had not told tem they would be guests here she would have been to scared to move. The work put into this place was magnificent and showed how much the male channelers had come to learning how to weild Saidin.
Not sure what to say she made herself look away from the tower. "It's a magnificent sight Raekal. Very much a rival to the White Tower." Gasps came from her sisters at that but she did not care. It was the truth no matter how scared it made her.

Gambling of a Dance with Jak
Curlan growled, and saluted Saker before turning to his men. He was leaving his scouts behind. It would be too costly to lose them. The cavalry he had with him was nothing he was used to, but they looked to him expectantly, waiting for orders.
"Alright men, you heard lord Saker, mount up. We've got infantry to save!"
The men snapped up onto their horses and Curlan took a quick count. One hundred men to slow up a whole flank. He needed more.
"Brothers, I am in need of your help," Curlan said as he reached out to the wolves. Relaying to them his plans.
"We are coming," came the responce and he saw fifty wolves running towards the rear of the Andor lines.
Five Asha'men joined his small group and they set out towards the Andor lines like the Dark One himself was behind them. Curlan drew his bow and started snapping arrows towards the first targets he saw, cutting them down before they could launch arrows towards him.
The Andor lines set up faster then Curlan expected. Pikes, shield, and steel glinted in the sun as he bore down towards it.
"ASHA'MEN!" he bellowed, and the ground tore apart before his very eyes. The wall simply became a gap and the men rode on. And from the next hilltop, Curlan saw the site that drove fear into his very bones.
Archers lined up, preparing to rain death on the men. Curlan's scarred shoulder pulsed with pain, and it was all he could do to keep himself from turning. But he had to stick to his plan, so he let back his head and howled. His men joined him in an earie battlecry....
and so did the wolves, who decended in silent death on the poor archers, ripping the line to bits, shredding throats and killing ruthlessly. Curlan couldn't help but smile, fighting back the blood lust that was starting to rise.
And his men made the top of the hill. He dismounted quickly, picking up a pike and a shield.
"FORM UP!" he bellowed again, setting himself at what should be the middle of the line. The cavalry dismounted and formed up around him, the asha'men in the rear. They had shredded the advanced force and the archers. They had also caught the main forces attention as they turned to come up the hill.
"Thank you brothers, I owe you my life," Curlan said, dismissing the wolves. "Leave before you are caught in this battle."
"For the Pack of the Red Eagle," came back to him as the wolves left, dissapearing back into the woods, as silent as they came.
And up the hill towards them came a force at least twice their size. Yet in the distance he could hear it. The sound of help. And Curlan couldn't help but pick up the tune, and his men joined him. Any good soldier couldn't help it.
"We'll drink the wine till the cup is dry,
and kiss the girls so they'll not cry,
and toss the dice until we fly
to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.
We'll dance all night while the moon runs free,
and dandle the lasses upon our knee,
and then you'll ride along with me,
to dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
And then the Andorians crashed into the small group. The song still rang out, mixing with the screams as the small group of soldiers held out despite the odds.
The sky opened up with lightning and fire tore up from the ground. The ground swallowed men and they simply ceased to exist. And still the the song rang out over the cry of battle.
The fighting got fierce, and Curlan ordered the line to break. Swords came out and the Band decended on the torn line of Andorian soldiers. If Curlan was judging right, he could push this group down into the path of the advancing infantry. Then join them from there.

Re: Gambling of a Dance with Jak
Saker spun, the blade flying aorun dhim, and stopped, the blade embedded deep in the flesh of a man, a man wearing Andoran colors. Saker ripped the blade free and watched him sink down, then bowed his head for a moment, the blade hanging at his side, blood running off of the shining steel. Around him, men were coming together again. The Andoran army, at least here, in this part, was gone, wiped away. He stepped forwards, over a body, and looked towards the sound of battle still raging.
"To horse!" he yelled. Men ran for their horses, and he walked back towards them. Two men rode towards him, with a third horse in the middle. He took the reins and swung up into the saddle. The tired, bloody line of men did not waver as Saker rode before them, glancing towards where Curlan's men were still engaged. And towards the rear, where the commander of this army still lurked, hidden by his personal guard, no doubt. He shook his head, knowing that he had to crush everything about this man here.
"Listen, men of Manetheren! Listen now! We ride not for some weak thing, not for money, power, or glory, but our rights! Our rights to live! Our rights to exist! Our rights to fight the Shadow!! Now ride! These men are not true Andorans!" He had noticed that, somehow, in the fight. A motley mix of Illianers, Tearians, Cairhein, and others. "These men are of the Shadow! They do not serve the Queen! We once made a pact with her, to fight when she needed men to fight, to come to Caemlyn's aid. Now she needs us! The Queen is not behind this! RIDE!!"
The knowledge that they weren't fighting their allies, that they had been decieved, was a major boost in morale. The men roared, fatigue and wounds forgotten as the horns blared out, clearer than ever before. Saker spurred his horse forward and they were off, racing from one scene of carnage to another, the roaring trailing off as the men lifted their voices in song.
We'll drink the wine till the cup is dry,
and kiss the girls so they'll not cry,
The distance began to close, and the "Andorans" had sceen them coming now. They were trying to break off, trying to reform, but there was no time, and the rest of the Band was not about to let them go anyway.
and toss the dice until we fly
to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.
They clashed, the Band ripping through the meager lines the Andorans had raced to place, ripping through the battlefield, through all formations that continued to exist, leaving swaths of death behind them. "ONWARDS!!" Saker roared, spinning his sword over his head. The rush of men went on, following the trail of running men back to where their commander lay in waiting.
We'll dance all night while the moon runs free,
Saker pushed his horse up into the fore of the charge as the Band went on, running down men trying to run, carpeting their path, their road to victory, with the bodies of the dead. Then they saw it, the small clump of men on horseback. And, as Saker had suspected, no Andoran flag hung over them, but the black flag of mercenaries, one of their standards. Saker's eyes narrowed as they began closing with it. This . . . ended . . . HERE.
and dandle the lasses upon our knee,
The cluster leveled out, coming into a battleine. Saker looked around him, realizing that he only had about fifty men around him, but more and more were pouring out of the woods behind them, some on foot, some on horseback, but all chanting, singing, the sound rising and rising.
Saker spun the sword in his hand, felt the heron press into his palm, and kicked his horse to go faster, harder, stretching out the distance, closing rapidly . . . the line of men advanced, leaving four figures in a small circle behind them. Saker laid low on his horse, his right arm extended behind him, down along the horse's flank. He pressed faster, watching the line coming at them lower spears and lances . . .
He pulled up at the last moment, the horse skidding sideways to try to stop. Even as he bunched up and leapt from the horse's back, the lances speared through it, and the horse screamed. He flipped through the air, landed hard, and was off again, on foot now, towards the commander. The four broke to face him, unsheathing swords and coming towards him. He squeezed his eyes shut. If ever, he needed that luck that seemed to follow him around NOW. He cocked his arm back, and let the sword fly, end over end, to slice deep into the chest of one man, who screamed as he went backwards off of his horse. A second charged at him, Spurring the horse. Saker flipped sideways, pulling a knife from one boot, and flipped it through the air as well. The second slid off of his horse and lay still on the ground.
and then you'll ride along with me,
Saker looked at the third, who was riding towards him now, and spun as he dipped to pick the knife out of his other boot and as he completed his spin, released the knife. It landed in the man's throat, and down he went. Saker locked eyes with the fourth and final man, the commander, the dreaded one . . .
"So. Lord Mandell. We meet. And . . . unfortunately, you are unarmed."
"Only in the sense that I have no sword," Saker growled. "Unfortunately for you, you have no sense."
"No sense?" the man laughed. "Dear Lord Mandell. I do believe that you are most mistaken."
Saker didn't answer. Behind him, the battle was winding down, the Band vengefully finishing off the last of the men. He ran forwards as the commander slid off of his horse and spun, unsheathing his sword and going for the beheading stroke. Saker launched into a forward roll under it, came up next to his sword, and as soon as his hand closed around the hilt, he looked back towards his enemy, and saw his own face reflected back at him in those eyes. Dark, forbidden eyes glaring with passion and strength, he was the ultimate vision of Light, standing with pure motives, driven by the need to protect, to save lives, even though he had to end some to save some.
And the man, knew, saw his death.
to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.
They closed, swords spinning, and Saker stepped away. The enemy . . . did not. He slumped, the fell flat on his face. Saker looked back over his men, those that had gathered to watch, to support their commander. He saw in their faces fatigue, worn tiredness, pain, and loss. He lowered his head for a moment. Almost done. He was almost done.

Pushing back the Imposters
Curlan whirled and writhed and faught hard. Slowly the Andorians fell away before his one hundred men. But the Asha'men were running out of energy and the Andorians were starting to regroup. Another good push and he would push them into the infantry, but he wasn't going to make it like this.
And suddenly behind him he heard the pounding of hooves. Curlan cringed inwardly, but he had to keep fighting. They had to push back the Andorians.
Suddenly, the poor man he was fighting, who looked more like an Illianer then an Andorian, fell with an arrow sunk up to the fletching in his chest. Curlan only moved on to the next man, but the sudden roar behind him at least made him smile.
"FOR THE SCOUT MASTER!"
Curlan ducked a blade and stuck his leafblade deep into the man's stomach. He stepped back and watched his scouts decend on the poor Andorians who couldn't regroup under the new pouring of troops.
"Come on," Curlan called to those who remained from the orgional one hundred. "You gonna let a bunch of scouts get the glory!"
Curlan led the charge of them, pushing the remains into the path of the oncoming infantry. He picked up the call of "Destroy the Darkfriends," and "Kill the Imposters." The whole band charged in, felling men as fast as they could.
It was another red day.

Re: Pushing back the Imposters
Saker stood on the top of the hill, a scattering of bodies across the hillside before him, smoke rising from the ground in the distance where the Asha'man had done their worst, where the bodies were piled deep and the wounded screamed for help, for water. Already, the Band's doctors and Asha'man healers were moving through the fields as the fighting began to slowly die down, groups of men here and there battling it out to the last. Saker watched as Curlan and his scouts rode down a few unfortunates, moving quickly, killing as fast as they could. So many dead, so many wounded . . .
And it wasn't over yet.
He nodded to the two Asha'man that had come up behind him, and to his two Banders that would accompany him. No fancy escort, no cleaned and pressed uniforms. No, not here. He shook some of the blood from his sword as the two Asha'man channeled, and the palace of Caemlyn rotated into sight. He stepped through, hsi two men flanking him, and was standing on the steps to the entryway, a score of surprised guards looking down at him and at eachother, wondering what they were supposed to do about this.
"I am here to speak to your Queen," Saker said loudly. His clothes were bloodied and torn, his blade slowly dripping crimson on the smooth paving stones underfoot. "I have come through an army to do it, so I expect you to stand aside."
They stared, and then someone towards the back yelled: "Kill him!" and they came down at him and the other two in line.
The two Asha'man stepped through their gateway, and it snapped shut. They pulled out their own swords. No escape. Only death. Saker slid forward as the foremost guard stabbed at him with his halberd. Two strokes, and the man fell headless. Saker twisted aorund, giving into his battle rage, letting it fill and break over him. until he found the peaceful, calm, center that he let his mind become focused in. Things around him seemed to slow down and become clearer, sharper. Then men began to die.
His two men went up each flank, spinning and flashing, their blades moving rapidly . . . no where near as fast as Sakers. Men went down in screaming agony all around him as fast as they came, and he walked calmly forwards, his eyes set on the door of the palace.
When the last guard hit the stones, his foot hit the door, smashing it open. He strode in, his two men breathing hard, yet falling into place, the two Asha'man bringing up the rear. They walked quickly down the aisle, servants staring in wide-eyed horror at the strange procession. Saker didn't care. He was here to end a war, end the suffering, the dying. The confusion, the deception, the Game . . . it all came to an end here.
The throne room came into sight, and within it, a hundred or more guards had already rallied around their Queen, the line directly in front of her a line of archers with arrows nocked on their strings and half-drawn. He stopped in the entryway, his eyes sweeping the men before him.
The Asha'man put their blades in their sheaths, and fire sprang into existence in their hands, balls of fire balanced on their palms. Saker cocked his head slightly, eyes on the Queen herself.
"My Queen. You refused me audience before, you sent your troops to do your negotiating, and you tried to take what is no longer yours. Manetheren stands again, and we tried to stand at Andor's side. Why do you wish war? Why do you wish death? If you want, I will kill every man in this room to get my answers. If you flee, I will only pursue you further until this matter is done with. I do not want to kill you, my Queen, but if it will save the lives of yours, and mine, then I will." He raised his sword slightly. "What have you to say for yourself?"

Helpless Ruler
Blurred vision and pain assailed Saveena. She was slowly regaining some sort of consciousness. But things were happening to fast nothing was right. Then suddenly clarity and focus came back and she saw she was standing behind her royal guard. They held back Asha'man and the infamous Lord Saker. Her surprise was short lived since the words that came from her mouth were a shock even to her.
"Your words mean nothing Lord Mandel. You may have an army of run down farmers and mercenaries but you and this fantasy you wish to create of Manetheren will never be true. Although I have lost the battle the war between you and Andor has just began. What is Andor's will stay hers as long as I am Queen."
Her body felt as if it was not her own although she knew it to be so. Saveena tried to move and it was as if she was trapped. Slowly she started to feel tired and she felt such malevolent emotions as she watched the men her soldiers held back. Am I losing my mind? Her body twitched for a minute and she gasped with pain. She felt so tired suddenly but no one seemed to see it. Lord Saker and the other stared at her with hatred in their eyes. The blurred vision was back she felt something touch her and suddenly she was strong and brave. Ready to face down anyone who would dare stop her. Her gaze met and held Saker’s. She would have to retreat they both knew but Saveena would not be gone for long.
Some where in the back of her mind she felt as if she would scream but the strength seemed to fight it back. She was in control. The situation was horrible but she would have the upper hand again.
Oh light what am I doing? Why can't I move? Lord Saker I beg you have mercy HAVE MERCY! For one moment her mind screamed those final words before all she felt was hate and a small bit of pleasure at what she would do to win against Lord Saker.
