Re: A New Master
He smiled at her words. He could tell that she was tired beyond real thought, and that . . . something within her was weakening. Threatening to break through. He smiled a little more as he stepped up behind her, touching her lightly on the shoulder. "It is. And it can all wait till morning now. You're making me sleepy." He lead her back inside, the glory of the prior moment fresh in his mind. It was like a step of destiny had been fulfilled . . . and there was only one real thing to do now. Start on the next step. Unifying their land. Setting everything into it's proper place.
Shoving such thoughts from his mind, he headed towards the rooms that had been empty next to his own, and found two servants standing outside, waiting for "the lady of the night" to come looking for her bed.
"You can go," Saker told them gently. "She'll not need help tonight. Nor will I. Go to your families, share with them the news that Manetheren is truly whole again.
"Yes, milord," they said, dropping quick curtsies before disappearing as only servants could. Saker pushed open the door and lead Alaren in. There was a door between his room and hers . . . though he hoped that one day, there would be no need for two rooms . . . again shoving such thoughts out of his mind, he looked around quickly. While not glamorous, the room had come a long ways in the perhaps three hours that the servants had had to prepare it. He lead her to the bed and pushed her down to sit on the edge of it.
"Now . . . to get you ready to sleep. Tomorrow, we can go on a ride around the city, and I can take you out to the Band's camp. You can see how they've grown. I think it'll even make you proud . . ." he trailed off, looking up and meeting her eyes, finding his voice suddenly very very far away . . .

Re: A New Master
Alaren followed Saker cautiously into the room that had been prepared for her, and smiled. It reminded her very much of the rooms she had in the tower; there was a four poster bed, though covered in simple white rather than yellow, a long dresser with a vanity, an armchair in the corner, a changing screen by the tall window. It was perfect.
She was surprised when he did not release her hand even once they had entered the room. Instead, he led her to the bed and gently pushed her onto it, his hands resting on her shoulders. Alaren felt her heart beating uncomfortably. She felt herself being led back towards the Tower, her legs weak beneath her, the taste of Saker’s mouth lingering on her lips. “Now, to get you ready to sleep…” He led her up through the Tower halls and pulled her into her room, easily unbuttoning her dress and leaving her standing in only her shift. “Tomorrow, we can go on a ride around the city, and I can take you out to the Band’s camp. You can see how they’ve grown.” He turned to leave, and she realized the emotion she felt was panic. She felt the world spin around her, and blackness cave in. “I think it’ll even make you proud…” She cradled his head in her lap, bending over him and smoothing back his thick hair, channeling healing weaves and waiting desperately for a sign, some sign that he would be alright…
Saker had stopped speaking. He was looking at her, gently and longingly, and Alaren found that she could not look away. She felt strange, lightheaded, dizzy. And pained.
“Saker… don’t,” she said weakly, feeling exhaustion wash through her. His eyes were all questions, and she looked away. She could not do this. Not today. Not now. She was not strong enough. “Please... don’t look at me like that.”

Re: A New Master
Saker blinked as he looked up at her. Don't look at her like that? Light! She knew perfectly well long they had been apart, and he was not allowed to look upon her with love when she was returned to him? Feeling ashamed, and angry for being so, he rose to his feet and spun his back upon her. "Apologies, milady. Perhaps I should leave you to get your rest now," he said, his voice not harsh, still soft, but with a very light ring of steel around the edges. Her stiff rebuke, before he had even done anything, hurt a bit, and he wanted her to know it.
Turning back to her, he gave her a bow and then headed towards the door adjoining their two rooms.

Alaren watched Saker walk away from her, towards the door towards his rooms, and felt her heart sink. Already she had offended him; she could feel his anger and hurt through the bond. Why must she always hurt him?
“Saker,” she called wearily, reaching out to him from where she sat. He stopped and looked at her. “Forgive me, Gaidin. I did not mean to offend; I am only tired, and have let it get the better of me. But you must not leave yet. I’ll never sleep if you leave angry at me.” She forced herself to smile. “Besides, I have had to share you all evening. I finally have you to myself, and you intend to leave on me. I am sure we have much to tell each other. Stay just awhile longer?”

Sighing, and swallowing the all-too familiar frustration that came from Alaren like a wall, he turned back around. "Apologies . . . I had supposed you wished for your sleep." He walked back over, his cheek tingling from the imagined slap she had given him earlier. The bitter rebuke . . . that wasn't even a rebuke in all honesty. He had to stop letting these little things get to him . . . if he was to find balance.
Sitting next to her, he sighed, his hands on his knees, staring at the ground. He blinked a few times. Weariness was beginning to settle in on him as well, but truth be told, if he could have, he would have sat there all night and talked happily to Alaren. "I do not know what to say," he said after a moment's silence, and glanced at her with a smile. "Why don't you start us off?"
