Religion is something. It does serve a purpose.

If you have nothing, religion, or some type of belief system, is especially important. It is when you dont have anything, and you dont believe anything, that negative forces enter your life. It is like an empty vessel where any negative force is allowed to come in because you have nothing, no goals, no belief system, etc.

As opposed to having everything outlined to you and having no freedom to decide for yourself on how to lead your life? The minute a person realizes that religion is a myth the sooner they unburden themselves from a slave like life. They can actually live their life without guilt. That's why I am a happy atheist.:)

Believe me, I have said a lot of things that are not favourable in terms of religion. Just because of that though does not mean that I dont think it can serve a purpose. The unfortunate part is that it has been used in the wrong way most of the time.

I'm not talking about having everything outlined, but having goals, success, good social relations, beliefs, allows you to stand for something. (no matter if its stupid to believe in that specific thing..as long as YOU actually believe it, its good)

I mean you are talking about having everything outlined from a pretty good situation I would consider. But look at some places around the world, some places in Africa, Asia. They dont even have that option because of their situation. The only thing the majority of those people can have is hope. They dont have money, food, a chance for education, or a chance to do great things in life, they just have crappy circumstances everyday. (the worry of feeding family) So if those people did not have faith, I really believe most of them would be suicide cases.
