ΠΟΥ ΗΤΑΝ Η ΑΛΒΑΝΙΑ
Στην έκταση που σήμερα κατέχει η Αλβανία, υπήρχε η Αρχαία Ιλλυρία. Είχε πάρει το όνομά της από τον Έλληνα ήρωα της εποχής Ιλλυριό, που ήταν γιος του βασιλιά των Θηβών Κάδμου και της Αρμονίας (1470 π.Χ.). Υπήκοοί του ήταν οι Εγχελείς. Ο Ιλλυριός είχε αδελφό τον Αδρία - εξ ου και Αδριατική- κι ήταν πρόγονος των Δασσαρητών. Γεγονός είναι ότι σήμερα πολλοί Αλβανοί έχουν το όνομα «Ιλλυριός» (Ιλίρ). Αργότερα τους κατέλαβαν οι Μακεδόνες.Στα 1410 -1220 π.Χ. συναντάμε εκεί τον Δαύνο, το Διομήδη, τον Ευρυμέδοντα, τον Αχιλλέα, το γιο του Νεοπτόλεμο, ώσπου φάνουμε στον Πύρρο ( 318π.Χ).
Η Αλβανία ήταν αλλού. Είναι αρχαιότατη χώρα, μόνο που βρισκόταν στην Υπερκαυκασία, κοντά στην Κασπία Θάλασσα, δίπλα στην Αρμενία και τη Γεωργία! Μέχρι που τους διέλυσαν οι Ρωμαίοι τον 1ον μ.Χ. αιώνα. Πρωτεύουσα ήταν η Καμπάχα, ερείπιά της υπάρχουν και σήμερα. Μετά την καταστροφή από τους Ρωμαίους πολλοί Αλβανοί έφυγαν από την Υπερκαυκασία και ήρθαν στη Ιλλυρία. Κοντά στα σημερινά Τίρανα δημιούργησαν το χωριό Αλβανό ή Αρβανο, στην περιοχή της σημερινής Κρόϊας. Το χωριό αυτό για πρώτη φορά αναφέρεται απο τον Πτολεμαίο το Γεωγράφο, ως "Αλβανόπολις", και τον 11ο αιώνα από τους βυζαντινούς. Έτσι ονομάστηκαν Αλβανοί ή Αρβανίτες. Και σιγά –σιγά άρχισαν να αυξάνονται, ενώ παράλληλα έφταναν εκεί κι άλλοι Ανατολίτες ή Σλαύοι. Αυτό, άλλωστε δείχνει και η Γλώσσα που μιλούν, ένα κράμα Αρμενικής, Ινδικής, Περσικής και Σλάβικης. Που φυσικά επηρεάστηκε από την ιθαγενή γλώσσα των αρχαίων Ιλλυριών - αρχαιοελληνική. Ακόμη ήρθαν και διάφοροι Ευρωπαίοι, Ιταλοί και άλλοι, που πρόσθεσαν κι αυτοί την επίδρασή τους. Αλλωστε όλες οι Γλώσσες, μηδεμιάς εξαιρουμένης, έχουν πάρει λέξεις από διάφορους λαούς όπως και η δική μας. Δεν πρέπει ακόμη να ξεχνάμε ότι ο Πέρσης - γιος του Περσέα- στα 1350 π.Χ. πήγε στην Περσία και ίδρυσε τον οίκο των Αχαιμενιδών. Ούτε ότι ο Ελληνας Ιταλός, είχε πάει στην Ιταλία. Οι επιδράσεις στη Νέα Αλβανία ολοκληρώθηκαν την εποχή της Τουρκοκρατίας. Στο μεταξύ οι πάμπολοι Ελληνες έφευγαν στο νότο, λόγω των διωγμών. Κι αυτό παρά το γεγονός ότι παλιότερα πολλοί Αργείοι, Αρκάδες και άλλοι είχαν κινηθεί προς το βορά. Να ξεπεράσουμε τις γνωστές, σήμερα, ελληνικές πόλεις ( Άγιοι Σαράντα, Χιμάρα, Αργυρόκαστρο, Δυρράχιο, Σκόδρα κλπ. ) και να δούμε αυτές της αρχαιότητας:
*** Η Απολλωνία, σημαντική πόλη που ιδρύθηκε τον 6ο π.χ. αιώνα από Κερκυραίους και Κορινθίους.
**** Το Νυμφαίο, βρέθηκαν πλούσια αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα.
***** Η Επίδαμνος, το αρχαίο Δυρράχιο, που έκοβε και νομίσματα με τα γράμματα ΔΥΡ.
****** Η Φοινίκη που χτίστηκε το 230 π.χ., στην περιοχή των Αγίων Σαράντα, εκεί που βρίσκεται το σημερινό Φοινίκιο.
********* Η Χιμαίρα - η σημερινή Χιμάρα - και ακόμη η Βυλλιακή,το Θρόνιο, η Αμάντα, ο Ωριχος και άλλες.

I know that Serb, Bulgarian, Fyrom say that Albanians comes from Caucasus.
And this theories came in the open after the Yugoslav wars.
It was a united effort of Slavic Groups to abolish the historic fact that Albanians are Illyrians.
All that because only Albanians have historic presence in the Balkans along with the Greeks.
Serbs realized that they could not claim territories because ,Ancient History clearly says that those lands were Illyrians and Slavic population came much later.
This theories are strictly supported by Slavic countries of the the Balkans(Serbia,Fyrom,Bulgaria).
Countries(serbia and Montenegro,Fyrom) with Albanian minorities.
No European or American or any other Historian has agreed with this theories.
In the End all accept that Albanians are desedant of Illyrians.
The Serbs have tried created new theories to prove they are an Illyrian-Slavic People.
The Bulgarian say they have Thracian origin also.
They try to promote themselves as indigenous people of the Balkan.
That`s why they try desperatily to create confusion in the Albanian-Illyrian origin.
You should know better.
In the same book that has this fantastic theories , you can find the theories that say that Macedonians are not Hellenic people.
The same books that try to prove that modern Greeks have nothing to do with Ancient Hellenes.
All that to promote themselves as indigenous people.
Same thing as above
Albania (Caucasus) was an Turkic kingdom (Azeri) who survived only few decades.
Albania (Illyria) is an indo-European people.
This topic has been analyzed more than you know.
I will need lot of pages to explain that is based only in a synonymity.
It the same as comparing Georgia(USA) with Georgia(Caucasus).

Because apparently you're Albanian. I'm Epirote (my forefathers been living in Epirus for at least 500 years) and I find it insulting an Albanian calling her/himself an Epirote: it connotes expansionistic tendencies. In a nutshell, you're not a good neighbour, amigo.

Albanians are not just neigbors. They are something more. The are GREEKS like we all of us. Muslims and Communism have created a lot of Janissaries aroung the Balcanic Peninsula. Some day, when education reaches the summit, all the Greek tribes including Illyrians and Slavophone Macedonians will be again together like the Beginning of Hellenism.

I don't know about the Albanians but the ancient Yllirians it is known that it was a greek tribe. That's why they don't left any ruins or subscriptions in "Albanian" but in greek. All the ruins that are found in Albania have written greek on them.
Plus, there are not any Slavophone Macedonians because the Macedonian tribe is very ancient and has nothing to do with the Slavs. The Slavs just came at the time of Byzantine Empire and now they live in the place where it was ancient Macedonia but that doesn't mean that they are MACEDONIANS

This has been discussed to hell. The Ancient Aghbanians were an ARMENOID group and have no relations to todays Azeri Turks, who conquered them. All the inscriptions in their old churches are in Armenian inscriptions and the Armenians helped these people create their alphabet, Aluanic. Today the rat like Azeri's like to hide this and they go about destroying these inscriptions to further try and make their lie stick. When it doesnt.... The Kindgom of Aghbania was named by the Romans Albania due to the fact that it was a mountaneous territory. Similar to the Armenian name for the land. The place ceaed to be called such after the Arab conquests in the 8th century and then Turkic conquests afterwards...
This is the legacy of those people and their Apostles.
Illyrians were not a Greek tribe. There were tons of Illyrian tribes, From the Dalmatians to the Dardani. Some were Hellenistic, others were influenced by Celts and later Romans

I forgot this post cause it was long time ago,i was reading again and it's really funny cause i noticed that every albanian says that Northern Epirus is Albanian and that Albania was one of the most ancient and big civilizations bud the weird thing is that everyone of you have a different story.

you have said the wisest thing! They are really about to do that and the weak countries that do not have any history like Serbs try to make allies with Greece in order to fight the nations with History.
As for your nickname, I personally like it! If one says the truth which a counter-part doesn't like, it's not fault of who is telling that!
