4 'Yugo' Youngsters: Read 'Politikin Zabavnik'!

(Read bellow text as it related to the purpose of the forums)

Especially addressing younger Serbian speakers (and, of course, any younger Bosniaks and Croats who can read Serbian cyrillic letters and in case they can not it is easy to learn). Reading it not only enhances ones knowledge of Serbian (which, needless to say, is in reality practically identical with the language spoken by Bosniaks and Croats) language but also intellectually enhances them as well. (Serbian dictionary is found here). As a child I was practically raised on such a magazine in former Yugoslavia, a magazine which opened a world to me and made science and history interesting to read always making me want more and making me impatiently wait for a next Friday (days when zabavnik would come out - in Serbian 'zabavnik' means 'entertainer' and it is written by serbian daily 'Politika' so Politikin Zabavnik means 'Politika's Entertainer').

Politikin Zabavnik is a superbly written magazine meant for younger readers and it is of scientific nature (written in a manner which induces a reader to read further into the text and to quench their intellectual thirst with more info) while it also contains sections of comical nature.

The reason I want youngsters to read it is so that (considering I am aware that science can be boring to read) such magazine could help open their mind by using science as a medium and take them more in the direction that I would deem as more consistent with what the purpose of this forum really is (which would be overall intellectual enlightenment as opposed to close-minded paranoid balkanoid close-mindedness).

To give one an idea what kind of subjects one is to expect in such magazine I will state some subjects from the latest number bellow (taken from this site) of course translated in English by me

Historical events in everyday speech
-The meaning of behind the words such as Scilla, Rubicon, Damocles, Armageddon, Haribda, Pyrhus, Kanos, Danites, Kulin Ban?

And those are, and those are ... Motif's
-Do you know an old yoke about a fisherman. It is found in a collection of stories - collection of global humor and wisdom collected by Antony DE Melo, theologian, psychotherapist and spiritual teacher.

other topics include

-In search of a dead man
-Origami on a spaceship
-Learn how to run away
(studies related to human behavior during 9/11)
-Are we being watched by someone
-Chinese Wonder: Train that is touching clouds
-Floating deserted ship
-etc.

It also contains

-Small interesting scientific and historical facts
-Pages of humorous comical nature
-etc.

PS: On a personal note, I would much more prefer seeing (at least some) participants concentrate more on topics such as those found in the site of Politikin Zabavnik (which is free with even archives available) then dwelling on all the political balkanoid political nonsense. Common sense (guided of course by only true guide, science) will prevail - even in Balkans.

Poruka za ove koji ne razumuju cirilicu: idite na ovaj link i 'paste' zeljeni cirlicni tekst i (budite sigurni da pise sledece "Preslovljavanje iz kodnog rasporeda automatski u kodni raspored latinica bez kvacica ) i na kraju kliknite "preslovi". Za nepunih 5 sekundi vidjecete teksta na latinicnom (bez kvacica).

A ja mislio ovde moze samo na Engleskom jeziku da se postuje.

Inace moj prvi Politikin zabavnik sam kupio u Sloveniji (Portoroz) kada sam primetio da je to slovenackaverzija na moju srecu zamenili su mi ga za srpsko-hrvatsku verziju.

Zabavnik za sve od 7 - 7 7godina.

I wish I could fluently read cyrillic... it takes me like 2 minutes to "decrypt" a sentence.
