all my friends on the board, who I miss very much!!!! I check in whenever I can, but this whole situation is very isolating. I feel like I woke up to some big horrendous test where I have to see how long I can go without talking to my friends...it sucks!!!!
I miss you guys (but never fear...I'll be back!)

Children today I am thankful for the d@mn Flu! I don't get to go to work, and i get to lay on my couch with my lil dizzy a$$ and sleep all day. Even though I feel like sh!t I get to sleep, and that is one of the grestest things to me...even though I went to bed at 12 last night, and woke up at 9 this mornin, and it's 9:35 right now and I'm about to go right back to sleep again!

I am thankfull for all of the friends I have made through the internet.
I am also thankfull for garlic and green tea...which is helping me get over the flu.

Today I am thankful for Angie coming here and cleaning my house while I was sick. She can be such a sweetie. She washed all my dishes, and washed clothes, and straightened up for me and everything. Awwwwww...it's that nice! hehe

the thoughtfulness of friends:
my cyber-buds, who I missed terribly while I was disconnected...sure is fun to reconnect!!
the wonderful relationship I have with my lil sissy...we weren't always very understanding of each other years ago. It's sooooooooooo much better now!!!
the friends who call to make sure we're getting through the holiday.
the friends I haven't met yet. Iris' mother-in-law sent down some really neat gifts for us yesterday, not the least of which was a huge country-smoked ham for our holiday dinner. There was also a jar with layered ingredients for chocolate-chip cookies, some gourmet coffee, and chocolate-dipped spoons for the coffee! AND...an invite to their farm for New Year's!!
I am also thankful that I can see all these wonderful folks working together to get me through a rough time.

a whole list of things:
1) the gathering of family...everyone was here who could be here for the Christmas gathering yesterday. We knew it would be different this year, so I didn't stress over things as much. That made all the difference! We had a good meal, enjoyed each other's company, and had a very nice day together.
2) lessons learned...on the 23rd hubby was involved in a nasty car accident. He wasn't hurt bad, just banged up and his knees were cut. BUT...he ended up spending the night in jail because of an old bench warrant we didn't know existed. There was a lesson for both of us...maybe we couldn't have the little ones with us the way we wanted (and expected), but we needed to be a little more grateful for the family that we DO have all together. AND, since hubby had been the consumate Scrooge because of the little ones, he'd been putting everyone on a downer because he did not want to celebrate Christmas at all. He wanted to ignore it altogether. The possibilities of spending Christmas in jail put a little different thought in his head (thankfully). The car is totalled, btw.
3) long distance phone cards...we were able to talk to Shadeaux last night. They had an unusually good Christmas (which was way overdue). They love their new place (and are trying to get used to the twin 8-year-old boys upstairs who add a little extra to their lives! Hahaha!) They still have things left in the old apartment to move but are taking things a step at a time, as they are able. Shadeaux wanted me to let you all know that they are well and happy (as well as FM will let ya be) but she's champing at the bit to get back online. It appears that it's going to be about a month before they can get back online as there are dial-up capabilities, but they no longer have a dial-up modem. I'm not sure why it's going to take so long, unless they're just getting dsl into the area. She sends Merry Christmas and Happy Yule wishes to all!
4) a job that gives me the week off between Christmas and New Year!! Yeee-haaaaaaaaa! A whole week off to play with my beadwork and watch HGTV!!!!
5) hubby should be able to start back to work soon, giving me some financial help!
6) Christmas is over, and so is the longest night, which means we will slowly be working our way back to spring and I can see my beautiful new garden blooming!

 and good morning all! Here is my list:
I am thankful that my good bud hillclimber had a happy christmas despite all the ups and downs in her life and the life of her kids and hubby. love ya, chickie-poo!
I am thankful that shadeaux and family are moved in and so cozy in their new abode, and that they had a long deserved merry christmas. love ya (and i'll be missing ya) sweetie.
Lastly, I am thankful that my sister and her family invited me over for christmas. her son-in-law finally smiled at me and seemed to tolerate my presence. baby steps are good. and i got to spend time with the baby girl and little boy.

Today,i am thankful for;
1. Cheap dial-up modems,so I'm back online much sooner than we thought.I missed this place so very much.I love all of you,and not being able to be here for the time I was offline was even harder than I thought it would be.
2. The relationship that I have with my sister.when we were kids,we thought we would hate each others guts for eternity.I'm glad we both grew up and matured the way we did.Not everyone in our blood family ever did grow up,and most are as immature as children,even though some are in thier 60's and 70's.None stay in touch with me at all,except for Laurie,and one aunt(by marriage).it's such a waste of the love that could be felt if only they would allow it.
3.The family I have found here.I believe we meet those whom we are supposed to meet in our lives,and it doesnt have to be in person.I feel like most of us are like long lost sisters,come together here.No one said family had to be by blood.
4.Caring people.Those who cared enough to make sure our family had a wonderful holiday have a special place in my heart.So few people do care anymore.One lady that Neil worked with at waffle house found out that since we were moving,we were having to spend a lot of our money on the move.She made up a box for us,with a turkey,and everything we needed for a wonderful holiday dinner.She certainly didnt have to,but she cared,and it showed.
It isnt often that I say this,but I really am thankful for just about everything right now.I spend a lot of time depressed because of several different things,from being broke all the time,to having fibromyalgia,to my 12 year olds behavior problems.But,the past couple of years have taught me to be thankful for the ability to draw each breath,and see the colors of the flowers in bloom.I'm thankful that my kids are basically healthy,and that they know the feeling of love.I'm thankful that the sun still rises every morning,and sets every night,and that the stars still shine.The world we live in isnt always pleasant,and there's a lot wrong,and I frequently wish for a better,simpler time,and place.But,I'm thankful that my soul still brightens with the thought of the possibilties of the future I have in front of me.

Iam thankfull today that my kids are all healthy for the most part during this terrible flu season. I am thankfull Sammy has the ability to assist his dog in healing and that I was not forced to put Hank to sleep. I am thankfull for the muscles in my back that ARE currently working and not aching, and I am thankfull that UK lost last night ticking paul off so bad he went into the girls room and cleaned it...freeing up that slot I had on my list of things to do this weekend. I am thankfull for friends I can feel safe dumping on and for those same friends feeling I am safe for them to dump on

Today I'm thankful for the very few moments of quiet time I manage to find around here in the midst of moving.We still are not totally moved in yet,believe it or not. We're at a point where we're stuck bringing over three or four small boxes at a time,in the car,in the evening,after Ralph gets off of work.At this rate,we might have all our stuff in here by Easter.
The kids are still wreaking havoc on the household with leftover Christmas cheer(there are still unbroken toys),and we still cant convince the 12 year old to lift a finger to help out,so the moments I have to myself are so few and far between,that they have become precious to me.I'm glad to have a wonderful place to spend them-with friends.

the wisdom and foresight of our university's Provost, who put us all on a delayed schedule. Normally life goes on no matter what the weather, and at its worst, usually classes are on delayed schedule or cancelled altogether. But not today! Classes AND offices are on the delayed schedule, which means I get to be HERE and not there...until 10am. Wow! Breakfast! That'll be a first!
You guys would have laughed if you'd seen me trying to get out of the house and into the alley to make the bus! We'd had an 8-hour ice storm yesterday so everything was glazed and really pretty. Our neighbor went out and bought enough salt for both households (she's a sweetie) and hubby dutifully salted the steps front and back. But...lol...nobody thought that the ice would be tough enough to skate across the backyard. I slid down the slope to a car, dug in my heels, but couldn't get to the last slope into the alley! And that was in the back! The front? Forget it! One- to three-quarters thick in shiny, slippery ice!

A neighbor who hates how certain pain killers make her feel and tossed the whole bottle of them to me rather than throw them out....... which means for the first time in the past year I get to do something about the bad days other than curse..... goddess be thanked
