My family, my animals, my home, and all my friends. This holiday weekend's explosive storms showed us once again how quickly we can lose all.
There were many tornadoes coming through in a huge front that stretched from Detroit to Tennessee in its beginning. I had one child at home, one in Jeff, IN (that town was hit repeatedly - at least 3 tornadoes), and one in Paoli, IN...very close to the tiny town of Marengo (the worst hit, they lost 80% of their homes and had one casualty).
It was interesting...while the storm was being tracked, it was thought it might hit Churchill Downs and then U of L's campus...so close to home. It never happened, and we didn't even lose a tree limb until Monday!
Life is good...didn't get to call my Shad, so this is my way of saying, "We're all okay..."

I'm thankful that my sis has a way to let me know that all are well after the storms.I knew after the storms had passed that no one was seriously harmed,because I would have felt it.But I had no way of knowing if homes were damaged,or if everyone was together.
One good thing about serious weather- it will make you appreciate things in a totally different way.It will make you appreciate those who you have in your life,and it will make you understand how truly delicate everything really is- a house,a tree,a life.A good strong wind can take it away in a blink of an eye.We all need to heed the lesson that is taught there.So,I can honestly say,I am thankful for the storms,and what they have to teach us about keeping close to those we love,as well as learning to come together as a community,to help one another get through the tough times.
I'm also thankful that my family made it through ok.

Ugh HC!! Was there to girlfriend!!! We are in the licking valley area, small rivers and streams swell and flood fast under those conditions! Luckily it moved right over us with no tornados breaking loos although one touched down 40 and another 20 miles away. The worse of our worries were making sure the dogs stayed under cover during the hail. Hank got a good konk but luckily nothing a little yelping and a big hug didnt cure.
Im thankfull our forum family made it threw safe, sound and whole...i was thinking of you and yours threw those 4 days hillclimber! I swear! lol

i was wondering about yall. i knew yall were safe and alive and ok, like mom said, i'd feel it otherwise. but it's good to know yall haven't received damage.

...how well my mom is doing in the nursing home. The nurses and aids all love her and say how sweet she is. I know I made the right deecision, now.

...the trees we have left after last night's incredible storms. There were no tornadoes (another thing I'm thankful for) but according to our mayor, we've just sustained the worst damage since the '74 tornado that ripped through! That's due to the wide scope of storm activity last night.
Being the tree-loving person I am, it just kills me to see these things because it looks like there are "tree bodies" laying around everywhere. We have two power lines down in the back yard and alley, caused by our beautiful hickory (I think it's hickory) tree. Word has it that the thing has been dying for 10 years and with the storms, we're losing it bit by bit, the danger being that it could come through the roof or a window. So...lots of gratitude all 'round!
Hope all are well and I miss you all!!!!

l'm thankful that my relationship with sam is as strong as it is... l'd say more, but he's standing over my shoulder, n l dont wnna make him blush (ya right!).... just thankful in general for a good day, and a good life, and good friends.
