Re: Our Power Animals
My Ability with cats.
Well, ever since I was a child I have had some kind of connection with cats out of all animals. This shows in the following ways:
1. I can tell what theyre thinking just by looking at them
2. Even the fiercest domestic cat I can soothe and have them be friendly to me.
3. Walking down to the village several times cats I dont know have run out of their gardens right up in front of me and rolled over on their backs wanting to be petted. The owners have been amazed that its happened, as normally those animals are very stand-offish or hostile to people. Normally cats will only do this to people they trust and know well.
4. Most cats accept me as at least an equal within 2-3 minutes of meeting them.
Thats about the gist of it, might not be that special but its unusual among the people I know. Let me know what you all think

Re: Our Power Animals
I think it sounds special.
I can't claim to tame all wild cats, but I can usually tell what they want and speak to them. (Granted my version of speaking cat is similar to my knowing minimal French and only bad words in Spanish and Thai...but you know, I think we communicate well enough! )

Re: Our Power Animals
My Guides are Wolf, Eagle and mouse. 3 years ago, Gator introduced himself as well, that was a shocker and a pleasant surprise. odd mix.
especially when I see mouse on top of gator in a conversation during 'dream' for lack of a term.

Re: Our Power Animals
Mine are the Dog , Pig, & Goat . In 72 I was attacked by a Doberman Pincher @ the age of 12 . I have have had 56 operations from this . Most folks would think I would have a large fear of dogs . But it is just the opposite for me ( I even breed a very large breed of dogs ). I have been around dogs that are known to be mean & they respond to me like a Friend to lots of peoples confusion . It took several years to find out what this meant . The pig has always held a special place with me as far back as I can remember . The goat has been with me for several years now & and holds its special place as well .Odd lot huh ?

My totems are wolf and crow. Cat is my companion animal (familiar). I think owl is coming to me. I love animals and communicate to them easily.

Re: Our Power Animals
I have never found out what my power animals are, but I feel strongly connected to otter, cat, and dolphin. Someday I hope to find out for sure.

Re: Our Power Animals
Since posting the last time I have gone on a journey to meet my power animal, and guess what..... it is Otter. Not much of a surprise, why don't I learn to pay attention to my inner voices???? Here is something a friend of mine sent me about my power animal I want to share:
"Did you ever have the feeling that you didn't want to grow up because adults seemed to be so serious? Do you find that you are now too serious about life? If so, Otter is ready to introduce you to play.
Otters are honored in both Celtic and Native American cultures as the masters of play. To watch an individual or a family is to begin to understand that it is possible to see life as a game to be enjoyed, rather than a burden to be somehow endured.
Part of Otter's vibrant energy is associated with its deep connection to water, where this animal spends most of its time. Water symbolizes receptivity, allowing life to be rather than stopping the flow by worrying about things which have already happened and about things which may never come to pass.
For those of us who wonder how we can surrender our seriousness and learn to be playful Otter's behavior provides a clue. These animals are intensely curious, often appearing alongside a human's canoe or rowboat so that they can investigate its occupants. When we are curious we are interested in our world and eager to explore it. We treat what we already know as pieces of information which can be discarded if they lose their relevance. As we shed that which is not needed we become lighter and more playful.
In this context a healthy dose of Otter energy can also teach us to detach from our problems, to be interested in them and curious about possible solutions. With this perspective we can find answers as easily as Otter catches fish.
We can take heart from another aspect of Otter behavior. Baby otters aren't born knowing how to swim; their parents teach them. So we can learn to swim playfully and joyously in the flow of life."
and also:
"Water is an ancient symbol of feminine, creative forces, so otters connection to water links them with powerful Goddess energy. Its message is always about flowing with the energy of life. It represents letting go of negative emotions such as, anger, jealousy, fear, etc. Otters message is about universal love, not personal love. Otter reminds us to love one another and share in the joy of living. Take time out to stop and play and don't be afraid to get your feet wet in the process. If you have otter medicine you can be a powerful medicine woman with great healing gifts."
( thanks, susan )
