Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Here is what I've learned about my darling lil Alize.
She's a mean, but loving lil bitch! lol
They told me she's a Sheppard Collie mix when I picked her up at the animal shelter, but ya know ya really can't be for sure. I got her on January 15th, and she was about 6-8 weeks old then, so that makes her....ummm well u can do the math. It's been a long day at work. I'm gonna get her fixed in June. Or at least that's when they told me to do it. She likes to eat garbage more than dog food....and she sleeps of the day and tears the house all to hell and back of the night when I'm down and out for the count in my lil sleepin coma. She likes to chew on Angie's house shoes, and it makes me happy, and Angie is always steppin in her crap, and piss....that's really nice to wake up to. I love to wake up to that sound on my days off. I still can't get her house trained yet....she's just not understanding it. She's still young though, so I guess it will take some time. But over all I'm happy with my lil garbage munchin pupper dog.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
To get her house trained as soon as possible (and trut me you do NOT want a full grown collie shepherd poopin on the floor)as soon as you see her begin sniffing around, get her outside, and dont bring her in until she goes.As soon as she does go(outside)praise her like she just did a backflip. If she has her days and nights mixed up that bad,you need to get a dog crate to put her in at night,Once again, you do NOT want a full grown collie shepherd mix to be destructive in the house. There is a product on the market called Bitter Apple,it comes in a spray bottle,to spray on things you dont want her chewing on-it really works well, and will pay for itself in all the things that she will chew up if she thinks she can get away with it.
I can help you with training tips any time you want.Just PM me with anything you need. This is an area I'm pretty damn good at.When we had our pet shop,I used to help people all the time with dog training problems.
Oh,and you need to get something that will rid the floor, and carpet of the odors left when she goes on the floor.Even if you cant smell it,she can,and will continue to go there if she can smell it.If you've forgotten all the spots she has gone to,shine a blacklight around, and anywhere she has gone will glow.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Yes Shadeaux u know all about the pets! lol
And yeah Tawn Tawn u didn't know that u can tell where a pet had done it's stuff by the blacklight trick. I had to try it with Puddles because I heard that cat pee glowed in a black light, and so ya know I was curious, and well sure enough, right here in the living room there was a glowing spot. Yeah I know I have nothing to do in my life, but hell I thought it was cool! lol I almost wanted to catch her pissin to see if I could see it glow on the way out. (real interesting life huh?? lol)
Shadeaux I will be hittin u up with some tips hun. Me and this pupper dog bump heads all the time. I'm tryin to break her from biting me right now....SHe made me really mad the other day when I was really sick, and she bit me for no reason, so I bit her back. She wasn't happy with me!

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
The best thing I've found for that is a shake can(they work for almost any bad behaviour).Take a soda can, rinse it out really well, and let it dry thoroughly, put several pennies in it and duct tape it shut.carry it around the house with you,and any time you see her doing something she isnt supposed to do,give the can a couple of hard shakes, and say"NO"in a firm voice, without actually yelling.I guarantee, she will stop. After a few seconds of sitting still(and she will when you shake that can),praise her for being good. She will learn that when you say "NO"you mean it,and will begin to want the praise.Dont say her name when you yell at her,or she will begin to associate you calling her name, with being yelled at,and will stop coming when she's called.
Shake cans work wonders for biting, and she'll get the idea pretty quickly.Collie shepherds are very smart as a rule, and respond well to positive reinforcement.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
I gotcha for the biting... I got a Pit/Boxer who doesnt bite anymore and they live for biting lol as well as gryphon n hank (working on gaston)
When she bites you say firmly no! and walk away.... if she tries it again push her away gently and move away, pointedly ignoreing her. i got that trick from a friend who raised a timber wolf. the thing is after a few times, a dog makes the connection " oh i bite i loose moms attention" but only do the avoidance for a few minutes....dogs time moves quicker and it could see like hours. Also bear in mind dogs show affection with in a pack by playfull nipping which doesnt hurt their tough furred skin. Us humans are essentially the domestic dogs pack... what ur doing is redefinning pack attitude. make sense? Make sure you praise her when she attempts to bite you and checks herself without u needing to do it...even if she does nip a bit... its means shes getting the point and trying to stop. instincts are very hard to break.
and if all else fails she bites u flip her really quick on her back and hold her there by her throat not enough to REALLY hurt her but enough to scare her... with gretta it was establishing that I not HER was the top bitch in the pack. With gryphon it was, im pack leader and a GIRL!!! they learn pretty quickly though Shoulada seen me pinnng down Cain, a huge white Wolf shepard Who used to live her, he was as tall as me and twice as heavy. the look on his face was priceless. but let go the second she submits...otherwise ur a bully and u dont wanna be that. Youll know shes submitted by her whimper, her paws will be held up in a non threatening manner against her cheast and her head will roll to one side exposing the whole neck. she may even nip, if she does point n say no, firmly, then shell probably lick ya, wjich is ok lol
but like i said, only if all else fails, cause this makes u dominant...not a partner, which a familar is.
and no matter what u do love on her soon after a repremand, dogs have a 4 year old child understanding, all shell think is mom dont love me no more if u stay mad.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Yes,and the thing to consider here is that she's a pup,she may be teething. All babies have a need to chew when they teethe.Get her something that is specifically for her, such as a length of knotted cotton rope, which you can wet and freeze.Whatever you do,dont give her old shoes to chew, she wont know the difference between a ratty pair of 8 year old sneakers from your brand new dress shoes.
Avoid those rawhide chews they sell at the pet shops, they can harbor bacteria, which will thrive and multiply on the wet, slobbery surface, and could make your pup very sick(some dogs have died from the poisoning they've gotten from this).Pig ears are great, because most pups can chew them up at one sitting,so they dont have a chance to harbor anything unwanted.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Well in like 10 minutes I've taught her to sit today....her treat...FUNYUNS! We killed a bag of Funyuns children! And she can shake, too. If it was that easy with the potty outside! Grrrrrr...I'm workin on it though...she likes to go hide when she does it, so it's hard to catch her before she goes. Sneaky lil bitch she is. I figured she was teething, but lordy geeze she's killin me. She's bit the blood outta me. She likes it when I flip her over on her belly, and rub her belly, and I'll rub her gums, and she's in Pupper Dog Heaven. I need to break her from the garbage! That lil habit I would rather get rid of then her shittin and pissin all in the house. I hate wakin up every mornin, and the first thing I get to do b4 I go take my morning pee is to pick up garbage!!!!! I just wake up and give her the look, and she takes off runnin! lol hehe I have to go now because I'm gettin attacked....I held out on her...I left some Funyuns in the bag, and she heard me!

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
The Bitter Apple I told you about will keep her out of the garbage.Simply spray a bit around the rim of the can,and a bit more on the top of the garbage, and she wont touch it.It has a pleasant smell to humans, but for some reason, dogs wont go anywhere near it.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Well my garbage cans are outside, because BRAD was supposed to clean them out and Ijust don't have the stomach for it, he let the garbage leak into them one day! Grrrrrr So now I just have a garbage bag sittin in the floor...it's not as bad at night as it is during the day anymore...I'm tryin to keep her busy during the day to make her sleep at night. I let her chew on my hand a lil last night because he was layin there chewin on herself, and it was just really bothering me. lol
That's how she went to sleep last night....such a crazy dog. She wasn't as wild last night either because Jordan wasn't here to make her wild before he went to bed. Me and this kid isn't gettin along too well these days. He keeps tryin to hurt my dog. I'm gettin pretty violent about it, too. He pushed her off the couch a few weeks ago and told her not to get back up there, just because she was tryin to play with the blanket and she had his toliet paper. I told him to move it, but he didn't, so it's his own fault. Well, when he pushed her off the couch I lost it! I told him to sit up a lil bit, and when he leaned over I shoved him off the couch, and told him not to get back up there....The other day he kicked her, so I sat there for I know a good 2 minutes kickin him askin him if he liked it and if it felt good and when he told me no I told him it didn't feel good to my dog either, so he better stop. I didn't kick him hard, but I should have just gave him one good swift kick to make him feel what she did in her stomach. I'm really starting to not like this kid anymore. He used to be so good. I don't know what I'm gonna do about it because everytime he does something wrong I have to walk away from him because I don't wanna hurt him!!!!!! That's bad for me to say. I love kids...there isn't too many kids I don't like, but he is really gettin to me and it's over my dog!!!!!!

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
This kid needs some serious training. The last time I saw a kid try to do something like that,I told his mother that if I saw anything like that again,I was going to report it to the ASPCA,and since the kid was a minor, guess who was gonna get in trouble? She asked me what I expected her to do about it,so I told her"For one,try using your hand against that kids backside whenever he displayed such behaviour against an innocent creature"
I've also been known to attack people more than twice my size over an animal, just ask my sister. When I was about 8-9 or so,someone we knew(who was about 16 at the time) kicked a beagle in front of me.I took off after him like a shot, and royally ripped him a new one.My sisters friends thought it was hilarious, but I bet the moron never tried to kick another dog.
So few kids are raised with pets anymore, because parents are convinced by so-called "health experts" that all animals are disease carrying, filthy beasts, that kids, now, never learn to respect any animal.I never knew a time when I was a kid that we didnt have some kind of pet, whether it was a goldfish, parakeet, dog, cat, whatever. My own kids have never known much time to go by without having some critter in thier lives, either, and they(like I)were taught from practically birth on,how to be gentle, and loving, with the animals in thier lives.Maybe if more people decided to use thier own common sense about pets, and teach thier kids a little respect for animals, kids wouldn't have half the problems they do now, because they would know unconditional love.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Shadeaux I'm tellin ya he's walkin a fine line with me. I've busted his ass before, but not like I should. Next time he hurts my dog I'm gonna lay it on him. It's like Tawn said Jordan is Angie's child, and my dog is mine!!!!! That's how I care of my pets! When Puddles was here I didn't have to do anything to him because she was so big she would take care of it herself, and I sure enough would let her. Poor lil Alize is still so lil that she can't really get back at him, so it's up to me, and next time it's not gonna be pretty.
One time it was all I could do not to hurt the child bad. WHen I first got her she wasn't in the best health. I mean I got her from a shelter for goddess sake, where she was in a pin with like 10 other puppies, and a few grown dogs, so ya know she wasn't gettin as much food as she should have and she had worms. well she was laying on a blanket that was by the dryer that I needed to wash, and Jordan goes and knees my dog in the head, and then takes her and put her between his thighs and squeezes her with his legs!!!!! She cries out, and I jump up because I couldn't see him, and there is my poor dog tryin her best to get loose from him. I WENT OFF! That kid had to sit on the couch for I know a good 30 minutes until his parents got home from wal-mart because I was scared to bust his ass because I was scared I wouldn't stop! Sure enough it was the same day we couldn't find his damn hamster because he left the cage open!!!!! What comes around the corner while the lil brat is sittin on the couch.....MR. HAMSTER!!!!!!!!!! I so wanted to go kick his pet across my living room just because he hurt mine, but it wasn't the hamster's fault, but I told him I was gonna do it damnit! lol So I catch the hamster in a towel (this hamster is a bitch, and u can't hold it!) And put him back in the cage. But what got me was they saw how mad I was about him practly killin my dog, and all he got was Jordan don't be mean to the dog. How are u gonna teach your child to no hurt animals by telling them to not hurt them. That isn't gonna do anything! I know mom tried that with me when I was a child. U can tell me not to do something, but guess what if I don't get in trouble for it, I'm gonna do it again!!!!!

Well, just know that one day,the little monster is going to pick on the wrong dog,and he's gonna get hurt really bad.Of course, the dog will be in much worse trouble, but I guarantee this kid will never hurt another dog, after he gets torn up by one.

Re: Alize: My Grand puppy
Oh I know that's what I keep tellin him. He thinks he can do this to other dogs because Billy's mom has a boxer, and she's like a big baby, and she lets that child do whatever he wants to her. She doesn't care. But u let someone try to mess with that kid, and it's on! But what he needs to get through his head is NOT ALL DOGS ARE LIKE SASSY! I kinda want my pupper dog mean because of the problems I have around the house here at times. I used to have people come out to the back of the trailor and stuff, and a few weekends ago when Kirk came in for a visit me and Syndi heard something over in my mawmaw's old house, and the door was unlocked, and open a lil bit! NO ONE LIVES THERE! That door is always locked and shut, so me and Kirk went over and checked things out, but we really couldn't see much because the electric is turned off over there, and it was at night, and I've heard stuff over there since, so ya know I really want a dog I can depend on to protect me, and against everyone else's wishes my dog is gonna be a mean ass when need be ya know.
