Spider Woman is an important goddess among many southwestern Native American tribes. Though occasionally destructive, she is nearly alwys portrayed as beneficent. The Keresan Spider Woman created everything there is by thinking, dreaming, or naming; she thaugt the people how to plant seeds.
Cherokee Grandmother spider brought people the sun and fire. She taught them pottery, weaving, and how to make ceremonial blessings. Spider Woman is responsible for bringing fire amoung the Pueblo, Tewa and Kiwa tribes. A spider woman called Biliku, found in the Indian subcontinent, also brought fire and light.
For the Hopi, Spider Woman is a creator who helped the people during their emergence, created the moon, has the power to give and take life, and is connected to hunting and agriculture.

Just to be clear. What was meant by this quote was that She was ALSO known as Grandmother Spider by other tribes. I was not trying to say that she was only known as Grandmother Spider. Although I can see where that could be misconstrued by the way 'Manda quoted me.

I am the norse god of fertility and rode an illumonating chariot threw the skies pulled by a golden dwarf built boar. I am Eris.....
I am a blue-faced hag who lives in a cave in the Dane Hills, Leicestershire. The cave, called my "Bower Close" was dug out of the rock with my own nails. Situated in front of it is a great oak in which I hides to leap out and catch and devour stray children and lambs. Every year on Easter Monday, it was customary to hold a drag hunt from my cave to the Mayor's house. The bait was a dead cat drenched in aniseed. who am I?

God of Agriculture, I was a master magician, the son of the Goddess Don and brother of Govannon and Gwyddion, the latter to whom I taught the art of magick. I was one of the few beings, deity or mortal, permitted to venture into Annwn, the Land of the Dead, and return to the earth plane again without being harmed or greatly changed. However, while I was there, I stole away a sacred dog and a stag. This act was the indirect cause of the Battle of the Trees.
