On A Bird's Wing
Raven was lonely. She missed her pack, her mate, her old territory. The night had been passed with her curled up outside Deadwood pack's den. She didn't feel welcomed there.

The fact was she was lonely. The ability to change shape was hers, and so she decided to change. It was painful in someways, her body, the bones twisting and turning, cracking, but it was over quickly. Tannish skin and long coal colored hair to her waist was ravens few amazing fetures as a human. She appered to be small, being only 5'2 in height, though she was very strong. High cheek bones and blue green eyes made her face almost pretty, though in her mind she found herself to be nothing wonderful.

She was without clothing and though it was cold she ignored it. walking around on her feet, not carring about the rest of the world, the pack or herself she began to wander, though not too far, and not into the den. She found a sunlight place by a small bush and sat down and curled up on the ground letting silent tears fall. She would finally mourn her mate. The sight was sad, heartwrenching perhaps if anyone cared and knew. Though Raven knew here she would never be allowed to mourn her mate, and so she did it just this once, in what she thought to be secret.

Welcome! You appear lonesome, so I hope it's alright if I crash this thread. *Smile*

Powerful golden paws thundered across the wasteland. Foliage was coming along, to Deacon's approval, it seems that with every passing day the landscape was returning to its former verde, how lucky he was. The golden brute walked as if the world belonged to him, and him alone, the arrogance that radiated off his burnt caramel pelt was a beacon in the distance; one might sense his pride before they smell his musk. He had been gone for his dens for a few nights, marking and remarking his territory and conducting other business that concerned only him. Broad tassel licked the sky, curling high to define his important position, and great jowls were clamped shut in an irritable line. It wasn't one of the brute's better days.

Lengthy limbs cantered with undying grace, especially for such a large creature. A physique carved by the Wilderness herself lay servant to that cunning mind, evident behind hellfire eyes. Those lovely indigo eyes, the perfect blend of blue-violet, like the sky before an epic storm with the same amount of danger and devastation. The handsome brute had been following an unfamiliar scent for quite sometime now, a creature that smelled wolven, yet dashed with hints of another species. The scent was coming for his den grounds, and whatever dares venture thus far without the golden brute's consent was going to meet warily with curving ivron fangs.

Breaking the brush, the powerful lupine, in all his amber glory, spotted the odd creature. Feral optics narrowed, those dark pupils shrinking into demonic slits as hackles bristled slightly in aggression. The brute was not nervous, far from that; the tension in firm deltoids was a warrior's acuteness. This creature stood taller then him, but the brute was a hundred to two hundred odd pounds of pure muscle, he could hold his own quite well. Cream covered jowls parted, as a rough tongue glided over ivron fangs, there was a demon sleeping beneath the pelt of this golden canine, who is this unfortunate creature that threatens to awaken the beast.

A low thundering growl, strangely quiet, parted pearly gates. "...And What is this? From where do you crawl from?" Velvet baritone vocals broke his stillness, none too sure the odd creature would understand.

The change from human to wolf could be quick should the need arise, and from bare human to dusky black and grey did she turn. tears from the human face fresh on the ground.

Lowering her body to the ground and staying still showing submission quickly, she stood up the smaller wolf looking dainty but strong all at the same time. Like an image shadowed over another.

"My Raven is Raven, I go by Brujo. My pack was burned alive killed by hunters. My mate my uncle and the Beta frought with me, we killed the hunters, but they did not survive."

The story was easy to confirm, she had fresh scaring and there had been smoke int he sky for some time. Her pack had been small and they went by no name, as most were werewolves, and able to create different living quarters for themselves. She was a strong female wolf, but there was a terrible air of sadness to her.

"I do not mean to intrude, merely looked for a safer place to sleep off what damage I could. If I offened you sir I will leave be on my way and try to see if there is a pack that wants me."

Before this she had had a mate, she had played withthe little ones of the pack she had power, respect and was always treated well. Every wolf had been. Now even the little ones were gone and she was with out purpose or protection in life.

Deuce watched the shift, approach of Deacon, and susequent unshify with some trepidtion. though she knew the beta had accepted the femme, she didn't know how Deacon would react. The minute Deuce realized she was concerned about it, she snorted with disgust and trekked her way down to where they wre.

"Deacon!" She arrived at his side, nuzzling him gently, before shooting Raven a foul glare. "hello child. You're looking...well."

Raven noted the way the female acted. 'I see she is after the Alpha, I'll have to explain to her I don't want another mate, I just lost mine.' she thought to herself.

Steel with snow was her voice, "I am just fine little one. It seems your Alpha wondered who I happened to be. Fear not I mourn my mate I'm not trying for another."

That should kill the fued Deuce was trying to create. Though it was very untactful.

"I hope you both can forgive my lack of manners for that statement, but the last few days have been..." control yourself! You are not some simpering female who cannot function becuase her mate was ripped from her arms and killed infront of her![/i Raven scoled herself mentally as she looked for the right words.

"They have been hard would be an understatement but I don't think there are words for what I saw and had done to me and my pack." She said it softly almost sadly, though she kept her head up and showed no physical sadness or weakness for any to catch. The scent of almost human tears were on the ground and her own paw was on t

The amber hued brute listened swiftly, his mind working like a well-oiled machine; there would be no distractions when it came to the Hellian. He was far too single-minded for that. Nares flared slightly taking in her scent, her background, he could care less about. She walked in the present, in his presence; he didn't need to be told she's had a rough night. Eagle eyes already figured that out. It was also obvious she wasn't lupine. Wolven, maybe; but not lupine. Regardless, her scent wasn't...distasteful, but it didn't appeal to the golden beast either.

Glimmering orricles twinkled with mild amusement, so guarded were her actions, desperate to not offend him. The attempt was almost laughable, but Deacon held his stony gaze, evaluating the obsidian fae with the most detailed of gazes. It must have been Jorn who accepted her. Nevertheless, Deacon allowed it seeing the werewolf was in prime condition and would be a great addition to his slowly growing pack.

The caramel brute's ears pitched forth, capturing the entrance of the ivron fae. His dear Angel. A smug grin crooked across his sharp muzzle, eyes narrowing at her familiarity. She was bold, bold as ever. The brute snorted, and shouldered Deuce back, in a rather business-like manner. Even if he wanted to be affectionate, Deacon didn't know if he had it in him. Such a Devil he was.

"Temper, temper, Angel. No need to be hostile." The brute chided, his velvet baritone was but a gentle rumble in the fae's erect ears. Great crown swung out his attention once again focused on the newcomer, Raven. Blue-violet oculars stared a while longer as the raven fae's tale was spun. Deacon remained silent, debating her situation. The fae was emotionally unstable, a liability--for sure.

"You presence is...accountable. If you wish to stay, then so be it." His tone wasn't the slightest bit warm, nor was it aggressive. It was flat, and conservative, choosing his words carefully, yet efficiently. "However, if you do intend to stay. I suggest you pay more attention to the present. No ghosts of someone's past is going to tear my pack apart." Deacon snorted. He had grown quite attached to his position, and very protective of his pack lately. However, this does not mean he wouldn't up and leave if he so wished. It just meant he was willing to sacrifice more muscle to better this rag-tag team.

"Furthermore, I'd rather you honor the dead, not mourn them."

Re: On A Bird's Wing
She took a wbit of offence to that. It was a very recent death, no more then two days old. It was her mate, her lover her friend that had died and part of her had gone with her mate. She had cried, she had howled she was finished, and planned on moving on.

"I do not mean to be offencive, but the wound is fresh, I have done my mourning. It seems you have not lost a mate before. When you do we will compare notes. But I honor my dead like the rest. And I commune with them like any other Shamaness would."

Raven spoke it softly, but the under notes her stone. She was not some weepy little thing, unable to see the past and pressant as different things.

"My past is just that. If I am welcomed in the pack please say so, but if not I will take one more day and then be on my way. I understand what it is like to care for a pack and would not want to endanger yours."

This Bruja was known to put any male in their place without offence for the diplomatic werewolf was not one to cause a problem merely end them. For her the words said her sadness was only a sight to be seen in her eyes around the edges. The rest of her body had become stone, steel with a furry coat. She didn't plan on anyone being kind and was ready to fight, verbally for any place she could have.

"Temper, temper..." Deuce shrugged slightly, mostly mollified by the return of attention, even if it wasn't exactly the most affectionate in the world,. it was still attention that Deacon paid to her instead of the other.

Deuce's eyes softened, becoming somewhat misty at the mention of a recent loss. she had not been aware the femme's losses were so recent. Softly. almost soothingly she spoke to raven. "Our Darling Deacon already welcomed you, raven. He would not take back the welcome."

Raven nearly snapped at Deuce for the temper remarke, an almost low growl coming from her but it was biten back.

They way the white female changed so suddenly nearly enraged Raven. She wantend no pity, but she masked her massive change of emotions by staying stonewalled.

"I'll take the welcome then. He is the Alpha," Raven lowered herself as submissive greeting, something she hadn't done yet.

Rising up again she spoke again, keeping her voice as close to flat as she could, "Like I said, the loss is less then a day old, all must mourn before they honor. It is the way of things." She paused noticing that the female was happy thats he got attention from the Alpha, she wanted postion and power from him.

"And as I said beore and I am sure it is likewise, that the alpha and I are not compatible, I am not wolf, I am lycan, close but not the same. I am sure he wants full wolf and not one such as myself. It is they way of things. You have nothing to worry from me, you want his attention, and it seems you have it."

Okay so she was being a smartass, pointing out something so obviuse that even the blind could see. But she wanted it all clear so that this less then sane femme would leave her in peace, that she was not after the males attention other then as one comrade to another. IF that.

A rough tongue crossed cream smothered chops. Deacon accepted the submissive gesture without batting an eyelash. She had boldly ignored his point. No matter, the golden brute could careless if his cruel demeanor was understood or not. Deacon held back a snort at the raven femme's stab about mates. Perhaps him and her were exact polar opposites. She was a figure guided by emotions, and he a spirit lacking the slightest chance of caring for anyone other then himself. What a rare commodity, this one was.

Deacon's demonic indigo optics studied Raven, most harshly. She was interesting. Probably being that she was a lycan. He had always wanted to test the strength of these part-wolf part-man creatures, hearing that their abilities were untouchable by humans and wolves alike. A sly smirk traced across his handsome mug, a ghost of smile that would have graced his younger years as a carefree pup--assuming that Deacon wasn't born as tainted as he was now. So sweet was the thought of making love to death, so many times had he almost lost himself in the void, and along comes this midnight fae telling him what pain was. Powerful jowls clenched, his eyes narrowing slightly. "To each...Their own. Mourn as much as you like, it was only a suggestion."

Also, those sharp predetorian hues of swirling shades of blue shifted between the two fae's. Lips curling as the lap of velvet skin across the top of his muzzle ruffled some in great irritation. "I'd rather you not assume what I want or don't want. As far as your feud goes...take care of it when I'm not around..." His tone was quiet, and he had ceased to make eye contact with anyone. Deacon was glaring into a void, a darkness that only he would see, only he could fight; the demon within. The caramel brute had half the mind to leave right now, it was obvious the two spoke as if he wasn't present anyway; he had better things to do with his time.

Again she made a sumbizssive gesture, aplogiges abound was its meaning.

"I aplogize for my rudeness. I have done my mourning, it is time to move on as you have said." she said it softly, though the steel poked out a bit.

"I didn't mean to assume, it has mearly been what I have observed. Most don't like to be with lycan unless they be lycan. I apologize again for the offence." However she ignored the feud comment. There as no feud, she'd made that clear. She had no intentions of trying to piss off the female.

Blue-green eyes witht hewir own twinge of sadness observed the male in front of her, trying to figure him out and it was an obvious thing. Trying to read him was important. He seemed angry and she wanted peace at least for the moment. She was tempted to do a puupy like thing but was at a lost for what.

Deuce nuzzled Deacon again, trying to calm him, trying to keep his temper from rising. Raven had made it abundantly clear she wanted no part of Deacon's heart, just the protection of his pack. Which was fine by the snowy fey.

"There is no feud, Deacon. I have no quarrel with her." Now, she added to herself. She had no quarrel with Raven now that she knew she wasn't out to take Deacon. On a whim she licked his chim, remembering that it was what pups did to mollify the adults when they'd been naughty.

Another curt nod twas offered. The brute was understanding enough to accept her apologies, and understanding enough to sense her wary spirit. However, being the Hellian that was Deacon, what was over is over and this repetitiveness was...irratating--to say the least. Letting go of this annoyance for the time being, the caramel brute was positive that this ebon fae would soon learn how to operate around him. Which was simple, really. The amber hued beast wanted a warrior's respect, not the kneeling and dealings of the Alpha he was supposed to be, Deacon could careless for titles. Even if he wasn't Alpha, Deacon would have been no less arrogant then he is right now. That gold struck tassel would still sweep the stars out of the sky.

Hearing that there was no qualms between the two femmes was good news--as good as things get anyway. However, it was that snowy Deuce, who's sudden lick, placed a mist across those bright blue-violet oculars. The handsome brute snorted and shook his great crown, solid muscles contracting, and a perplexed look sinking across his keen face.Where was this familiarity coming from? Had the fae be bold enough to approach him so? Deacon could feel a warning growl rumbling in the caverns of his proud solarplex. Was he becoming too soft? The thought was almost laughable, and if it were true, Deacon would much rather jump from the high cliffs then continue living then a 'has-been'. That was how much pride was worth to the golden Hellian, that was how he was taught to live.

"Very well then. The dens are yours to use, however you please...And what was the position my Beta assigned you?" Deacon was fishing around for the remains of Jorn, his lovely, insane midnight beta. All the white, as he spoke to Raven, his eyes were on Deuce with an unreadable glint in those dark indigo orbs. So dark, they appeared white, white enough to see one's reflection, captured in a ring of swirling shades of blue.

"Gamma," she said quickly. Still she felt the need top speak with Deuce. Raven had the desire to understand and stay out of the way as much as possible. She was a talented tracker. Perhaps she could find something and bring it back as a gift of some sort. Prove her worth.

She noticed really didn't like the norms of pack actions, it was a note she kept in the front of her mind. She would take sometime when there was time to change into her other self and stretch wash in the cool waters and mourn alone. Her human side hadn't really been able to finish. But only after the day and night was over. The hope that there would be pups in the dens was quickly squashed when she realized he wouldn't be the fathering type.

Deuce seemed bolder around this male, something she thought to be on the poor side of judgement. He seemed ready to bite or tear at her and not lickely to muzzle her back. Again. Part of Raven felt ready to jump inbetween and take the punishment he might be about to give to Deuce, Raven had the insane instinct to protect Deuce and it leaked into her eyes. Desperatly she want to jump into Deuce's mind and tell her to "step back" "look out" but she would never enter another mind, that was for mates only.

Deuce was captivated by the play of light in the alpha's eyes, as she had been many times before. Quickly, she realized she was being far too bold for a scout, and she looked away, stepping away from him slightly, noting in a rather bemused manner that his scent still clung to her fur like an intoxicating perfume.

Coyly, she met his eyes, her bicolored optics speaking the invitation she didn't dare voice aloud, then she lowered her eyes again. "I should be going," the fey murmured demurly. "All this talk of ranks has reminded me I have been somewhat remiss in my duties."

Without speaking another word, she left, the tips of her fur just barely brushing against deacon, a sweet reminder that he knew where to find her.

Raven nodded her head good by to Deuce, and then looked back at the Alpha.

"I realze this is too bold, but to keep this peace she has decided on: Is she to be your mate?" Raven asked with a dead tone and nothing to indicate anything other then true curiosity. Deuce confused her, as did the Alpha, the only one she could read was the Beta, the one with bad vibes.

"I only ask as I said so that I will know to stay away from her more often. She is intent on you, and was ready to start the feud you mentioned when you came up. I plan on doing my job and keeping the peace, even if it means sleeping outside the den."

Again she didn't give in to a submissive posture, he seemed to hate it. So she would treat him as an equal until otherwise instructed.

Soft footfalls in the damp ground echoed ever so slightly as the saddlebacked male padded in-his muzzle painted with blood and a hare suspended from his jaws. It wasn't much...but whatever-it was something. The dead hare's scent was clouding his nose now, so he didn't catch the presence of the others until he heard them. Someone new was there...

He stopped at Deacon's side, the hare still held firmly in his teeth. He laid it down and looked to Deacon then back to Raven...

He lowered his head and dropped the carcass. "Have I missed something?"

The most vile of smiles darkened the brute's clean features. For a fraction of a second Deacon looked like he was a new born demon, straight from the gates of Hell--rather unbecoming of a creature with such a holy name, no? The second passed, and only a ghost of a smirk lingered upon his lips. The raven femme was....again perplexing. Just when he thought she was easily read, she surprised him with her boldness. Although her book was still a little obscure, it would be easier to read as time goes on. She was...polite, to say the least. Polite, not soft.

Those eyes, those dark, swirling depth of late evening skies, capture the last remeninces of that demoinc glint. Reducing the manifestation of catastrophe and chaos into a cruel, mocking grin that made indigo oculars glow with unearthly light. "Is that was it looks like?" he asked quietly. There was no animosity present, but Deacon was unorthodox like that, his voice was like soft thunder across a sweeping prairie.

Nares flared slightly, it was their other Gamma. The elder wolf, whom Deacon hadn't seen lately. Needless to say, the selfish brute had nearly forgotten about the aged lupine, alas, his mind wasn't that dull. A gentle nod was Idrian's greeting, before a soft snort and cunning smile took to the brute's mug once more. "Seeing as you are here, please...This is our other Gamma."

Raven was close to standing on edge, human shape with a stone in hand to cruch the wolfs skull as she saw this disturbing change. What had she fallen into? Was she truelly in the Devils pack now?

Her head whipped to the smell of dead things and older wolf. She was again ready to attack but steeled whent he Alpha did nothing but ask if it was food.

She nodded her head in respect, not out of some silly idea that he was above her becuase he was male. They shared the same postision, good to know. Now she prayed his mate would not be angry at the loss of a possible rank.

"Sir," she said softly to the other Gamma. Now it was limbo who wuld do what next?

He turned his attention back to the new Gamma and bowed his head slightly, then raised it and gave her an appraising glance with his good eye, though the milky-blue blind orb followed its path.

"It's good to see another has come." He sniffed the air a bit...catching the lycan scent...unsure of how to judge it. He hadn't met one like her before...but he knew the smell of humans...he supressed the growl that rose in his throat. This new female wasn't *them*. She was welcome here...she was one of the pack...he smiled easily again.

Raven again nodded to the old wolf. She surpressed a smile and a laugh of her own at the mention of Deuce and the Alpha sharing a meal. A meal was not what Deuce wanted Raven could tell.

"It is good to be accepted here," she said quietly ear twitching to the sound of a bird flying by. Raven knew she was going to be the different one here, she would have to work harder. Prove her worth time and time again. But she wanted a home and now she had found it.

Venturing a bit she thought perhaps she could bring some food home, "Perhaps I could try to hunt a bit? For a few of the others. There are some old spots my pack had used for food. They are no longer used." The last had a hint of sadness to it.She had been trying so hard to not let it out.
