Re: On A Bird's Wing
OOC: Yeah. I had to bring our darling Beta into it. XD It's just too good a thread to leave. LOL

IC:
Running. Jumping. Flying. Flying over a vast plain of water, flying over an ocean of flame. Flames licking at fur, flames licking at feather. Was it feather or fur that covered his body? Pain. Blood.

Blood. Golden eyes sharpened as they opened, the male awakening instantly at the smell. Nares widening, he took in the scent. A hare. Killed by idrian. He started to shrug it off, then sharp ears caught voices. Another pack meeting without him. This was going to have to stop.

Jorn exited the den he was curled up in, looking down the bluff at the three wolves below. Raven, Idrian, and Deacon. Jorn's lip curled as he stared at the golden male. It still wasn't fair. He'd had everything in control until Deacon had come along and wrested it from grasp. He snorted softly, then made his way down the bluff to stand beside Raven.

He nudged her shoulder gently in greeting. "How are you today, m'dear? Finding Deadwood to your likeing?" He nodded curtly to Idrian and Deacon, greeting them in a no nonsence manner.

She had been rather fine on her own, chatting with these other pack members. And then ithad come. He had the gall to touch her, when he was not very friendly to the others, and she wanted no speacil treatment for being female or becuase there was some trouble brewing.

Raven nodded curtly and stepped offto the side. She wanted it clear she took no side. And the unbalanced feeling of this male ruffled Raven fur to skin.

"Hello Jorn. Yes I am enjoy the pack and Deadwood." it was fairly flat, no emotions or any thing that could give away her feelings. It was diplomatic at best or worst. Something anyone who had to keep the peace would have to learn. And it was something she already knew.

Idrian stepped forward, feigning some gentility, fighting a low, barely audible growl rising in his throat-he sensed Raven's discomfort.

"If you would like, I can show you a reasonably decent hunting area-perhaps if both of us go, we can bring something larger back."

He smiled, but it was strained-his good eye shifted from Jorn in distaste to Raven with a glimmer of warmth and welcome.

Re: On A Bird's Wing
Raven moved over to Idrian and snorted lightly a thank you for the escape.

"I think that would be a good idea. After all you know the hunting and I could use a reason to learn the area better."

There was a short look at the Alpha then at Jorn unease rolling around like steam.

"after all, I'm sure that the Beta has important things to discuss that does not need our attention now." Trying to create a good reason to escape.

"For our Beta, m'lady," Idrian replied in a low voice, "I believe that only a watchful eye and no other attention are necessary."

He grinned a bit, but he was concerned for Deacon-he stalled near the den entrance for a moment, it was enough distance to give Raven a respite from Jorn for the moment, and gauge what Deacon would do next.

"There's a fine meadow just to the south-the grasses are starting to die some, but there's enough brush to keep the game near at hand."

The apparence of the dark male did little to better Deacon's dry mood. On the contrary, he was rather happy to not have seen his Beta for the past few days. Worried? Dear god no. Deacon would have been on the midnight brute if he was trying to brew up a mutiny. Not that the golden brute cared for the slaughter, but know that he, Deacon, would have traversed the clouds above to save his pride. And if it meant bathing beautiful rivers of crimson, then so be it. He wasn't here to do what's right. He was here to do what's best, and that was all the justification he needs.

A sly smile touched the golden brute's creamy lips, it seemed the new fae had more interest in her own tail then the likes of dear Jorn. "I think you're out of your league, Jorn. Must be heartbreaking." Oh, the innuendos, Deacon was actually able to capture Jorn's defeat in 'love'--sarcastically speaking, of course--and land--seeing that the spot of Alpha had been 'dogged' outta him.

Re: On A Bird's Wing
Felling a bit annoyed to be spoken about as if she wasn't there, she spoke to the other gamma.

"Sounds like a good place to hunt, two should be able to bring down something, right?"

"As far as leagues go, you are both out of the water, so really, leave it be," She told them both, preffering the old wolf to the two younger males. She had just lost her mate, love, was completely out of the question, they would do well to remember that.

Idrian's smile widened a bit. He chuckled lightly to himself and turned. "Indeed, Raven, two of us should be able to do quite well. Hares are a test to catch, but they are quite boring when it all comes down to it."

He started off at a gentle trot, nose turned south, an ear canted over his shoulder.

A somewhat ghastly haze crept across those bright blue-violet orbs. So the fae know knew what it felt like to be spoken about, whileing being completely ignored. It would do well for the femme to understand she had been speaking about him in the same manner not so long ago. A glossy smile swelled across the brute's ivron mug. Deacon didn't bother saying anything, his breath wouldn't be wasted on the likes of her, no, not this angsty lass. In due time, she can figure out her own inabilities to cope, death must be new to her--but Deacon wasn't one to underestimate another. Arrogant, he might be, but not foolish. How he views himself has little to do with the way he interacts with others, and whether this fae understands that or not, was up to her. The golden brute would let her be otherwise.

A steely glance was casted her away, and then quick dismissal as the two Gammas were to leave but him and dear Jorn. Auds pitched forth as a cruel smile lapped at the male's prominant muzzle. It had been a long time since the two met this way. Deacon hadn't been holding anything against the midnight lupine, but the hotty behavior of that ebony fae sure did put the Alpha in a sour mood. In and instant, pupils were slits, dangerously slashing through the centers of those twin indigo lenses where smoke lays beyond the looking glass and a monster dwells amongst the fog and mist. Or...Maybe he would just go for a run to blow off steam.

Re: On A Bird's Wing
Raven nodded shorltly to the Alpha, a sort of "sorry for that rude bit there" and then went to follow the other Gamma. She felt ill at ease around the Alpha, and hoped to find the other female. It would be nice to see another female and just stay away from the males. A little less testosterone was what she needed.

The was one thing, she did feel fairly comfortable around the older wolf. He was very smart, and she decided to follow his advice about the Beta. The Alpha she would do the same, keep eye and ear open at all times. It wouldn't hurt to be extra carefully.

Re: On A Bird's Wing
Jorn spoke naught a word even as the fey moved away, rejecting him and what he had to offer her. Fine. whatever. He didn't actually care, anyways. Golden eyes lost their sheen of friendliness and took on their normal emotions, the anger and bitterness mixed with a smidgen of insanity, then were quickly schooled into a more appropriate expression.

He simply raised an eyebrow as he watched Raven walk away. It was a pity she was so set against taking a mate here. Besides Luna, he could see no potential mate better for himself than the night hued femme. They could have fine pups, and she'd be a good mother. Not that he cared if he had pups or not, but when one aspired to alphahood, one should aspire for the attending fatherhood as well.

Re: On A Bird's Wing
Even as she moved away and followed the other Gamma, she wasn't stupid enough to keep her back to them both, and she made sure to watch his face, her own very blank though there was some confusion in her eyes.

That wolf was truely insane, she was sure of it. And so it would be with padded paws that she treated him. With all kindness and friendliness she could muster. Same with the Alpha and the other female. Just be nice and friendly to everyone and they would let her on her own for most of the time.

"Guard yourself well, Raven," Idrian said in a low whisper as they moved away. "Until then, we've some game to catch!"
He bounded up in the air, mid stride, snapping gleefully at the moon above. He was energized by the chill, wild as a pup again, and glad to have a hunting companion.

She nodded quickly, and gave her own wolf-y laugh, "So we have!" and off she bounded after the older wolf. She was happy to be able to get out of the tense situation and be off with a friendly creature.

But her mind stayed partly on Jorn. He worried her on many levels. And something just made her keep him in the fore front of her mind. He wasn't quiet right, that was obvious. But she had a new "friend" and something to eat sounded wonderful

He cast a glance over his shoulder to her, then dropped back his pace so they were loping side by side. He wanted to keep an eye on her-she was vulnerable now, and he feared for her in the path of Jorn-or even Deacon, though he respected the Alpha-wrong moves were dangerous.

He caught the faint scent of game on the breeze. "You smell that?"

She caught up to him, and paused, closing her eyes she could concentrate very well, letting scent take over where sight and sound would fail. Food, game, it was not so near as she would've liked, but it would be good, and perhaps an easy catch with two who were hungry with energy to burn.

She opened her eyes knowing where to go, and how to take it down, and nodded. "
Yes, and it makes me hungry." Almost a savage there for a moment. Her hunger took over now, she hadn't eaten in many days. And she needed to prove she was worth the space in the pack.

"Come on then, we'll get a decent meal like this. I believe it's hinds..." He knew they'd have to be careful of any stags in the area-but he didn't scent them-and a young, maiden hind would be easy to bring down.

"I think we will get it unawares. None other is near by." She could almost see it, with her own nose painting a picture for her of the food they would get. Her stomach growled so loud it nearly sounded like her. If she'd been human it would have made her blush, but as a wolf she was promse to use it to take down the food.

"Yes, ready when you are." He flattened his head and neck till they were level with his back, ready to pick up speed and spring for the kill. The eagerness made his fur bristle.
