Warning of Peril
((Continued from Easterling Ambush. We have found an army from Reagall marching against Belmore, and come to this fortress to warn them.))
Ardellion was running hard. He and Isilwen had been doing so for a day and more. Finally, the walls of the great fortress of Sedanado loomed up in front of them. Ardellion slackened his pace, letting Isilwen catch up.
The gates swung open as the two approached and declared their names. Two guards met them inside.
"We must speak with the general." Ardellion said. The guards looked at eachother. "A great peril threatens this land, we come to warn him." One of the soldiers nodded, and the other beckoned to the two elves.
They were led through the fortress to a large room, not royal in design, but it was still was great. A table was in the middle, covered with maps. Four men stood over it. The guards and the two elves approached. One of the guards stepped forward and bowed to the men.
"My lord, these two elves claim to bring news of great importance."
The tallest of the four nodded. "Bring them forth."
The guard still standing with Ardellion and Isilwen motioned for them to step foward, and they did. The tall man, obviously the lord of the castle, stood before them.
"What news do two elves bring that they might come all the way to Sedanado?"

Warning of Peril
Isilwen bowed low.
"My Lord, we have encountered an army, marching west across the Feilds Of Trees. There are hundreds... thousands of Raegall men marching towards this very tower. They will be here by nightfall, my Lord. We will assist you in battle, as we held off a bit of an ambush midway through the Feilds. You need to alert the troops as soon as you can."
The elfess bowed again, and stepped back a pace. She now saw the Lord rise from his chair, and approach the twosome, with a look of confusion on his face.
"You mean to tell me we are under war?"
"Yes, sir. You need to alert the troops, my Lord!"
As the Lord walked across the hall, he walked to a man standing on the opposite side of the hall, and said a few words in a hushed voice. As the Lord left the room, the other men who had been sitting at the table rose, and left the hall after the Lord.
"You may sit," said one of the guards, and pulled out one of the strudy oaken chairs that surrounded the heavily built table.
Isilwen looked at the maps with interest, and pulled one of them closer to her. She ran her hands over it, and saw imidiately it was of her homeland... The island of elves.
As she began to get into the thoughts of maps, the Lord strode back in, and took a seat at the table amung Ardellion and Isilwen.

Re: Warning of Peril
The lord sighed and looked to maps, one hand up on the table. "My scouts have just confirmed your reports. I thank you for this warning, I have dispatched riders to Belmored for aid, hopefully they will arrive in time." He took a long pause, then suddenly stood up and turned away. "Well then, good day to you." The lord said, and started to walk off. Ardellion looked confused. He shoved the chair back and called to the lord. "Is that all?"
"Yes that is all. Go back to your home."
"But... we can aid you."
The lord laughed slightly. "I seriously doubt that, elf. This is not your place, you must leave."
Ardellion, angered, suddenly drew his scimitar. In an instant, it was imbedded in the wood an inch from the Lord's head. Ardellion stood 10 feet away, his arm outstreched. Slowly he lowered it.
"We can aid you, we can fight, you greatly underestimate us, m'lord."

A horn blew in not far from the fortress, the lord ran to the window, ignoring the elves for the moment... outside the fortress stood 6,000 Easterlings... in ranks and preparing for battle...
"Oh my... the riders of Belmore have not come in time... they are here..." The Lord cried in panick and called out orders to the men of the fortress to get in positions...
"MEN OF THE EAST!" A commander shouted out... "TODAY! THE FORTRESS OF SEDANADO WILL BE IN RUIN!"

Re: Warning of Peril
The Lord was about making plans as Ardellion went to the window and looked out at the charging men of the East. He grumbled, he hated them, took too long to kill one. He greatly respected their skill with a blade.
"Looks like.... 6,000.... must be their entire southern army..." Ardellion was talking to himself, trying to get a grip on the situation.
The gate was quickly shut and barricaded. Archers were set on the walls and soldiers at the murder holes.
"Draw! LOOSE!" Shouted an archery commander. A hail of arrows was loosed from the walls, raining down on the army of Reagall. "Knock! Knock! Draw... loose!" He shouted again. Another volley flew through the air. "Fire at will!"
((And the men of the east wouldn't have anything higher than a battering ram, but they do have a battering ram, a big one.))

Isilwen fled down the stairs of the tower, and helped baracade the door.
"I am going out there, we need to hold them up for as long as we can!" Though she did not appriciate what the Lord had said about her race (half of it, anyway lol), she must help this country.
"Ardellion, are you with me?" Isilwen turned to him.

((He plays an angry Easterling. But yes, he and Katzimota are coming.))
"Yes, I am with you." Ardellion turned from the window. "Are you skilled with a bow? Good! Then let's take up our place at the murder holes!"
The muder holes, the one defense against battering rams. They were simply wooden doors cover holes in the side of the wall over the gate and holes on the floor which would face down to infront of the gate. Archers and stone throwers would unleash hell upon the ram, as well as pots of boiling tar.

Re: Warning of Peril
The men of Reagall charged full force against the fortress. Archers rained down fire upon them, and the eastern men shot arrows of their own. Despite the disadvantages of shooting up a wall, the men of Reagall were excellent marksmen. The screams of men as they were impaled and fell off the wall filled the air.
A great battering ram was brought forth upon wheels, and with a yell it slammed into the gate.
"Brace the gate! Set up the barricade!" Shouted the lord of the castle as he went about, encouraging his men.
Another bang from the ram shook the gate. Dust was sent into the air as it was hit. Wood beams were being set against the door, but it wouldn't hold for long.
Bowmen were loosing arrows down from the murder holes now, and Ardellion was among them. His keen elven aim allowed him to pick off the men pushing the ram. But for every man down, it seemed another instantly took his place.

Aid to Seanado
Their march had not been long, and the 1,000 cavalry were in good spirits. They were now approaching Sedanado from northwest and the fortress was in sight. They would reach their destination before the sun completely faded to the west if they galloped.
Faye looked to the west, and the setting sun flamed against the sky. The King had sent orders to Derotha for a dispatch of 3,000 men when the call for aid had come from Sedanado.
Their commander shouted an order and Faye had to look towards Sedanado as the cavalry was sent into a fast trot toward the fortress. A fellow rider rode up alongside her and her mare and half grinned, half sneered at her. "Comfortable, milady? Perhaps you should've stayed behind the walls of Belmored in your pretty dresses, where you belong."
Faye ignored him. She had personally begged the King to let her ride with the cavalry, but he had simply waved her off. It was lucky for Faye that the commander of the cavalry was a good friend, and a good sport. He told her he would allow Faye to accompany them if she could out-ride him... and she did just that.
Two men were talking to her left, and they raised their voices now over the sound of the horses hooves so that Faye could not help but overhear.
"Just our luck... when we needed most to concentrate our forces against our defenses against the south, an invasion comes from the east!" One was saying.
"The only thing I've gotta say is I'm glad I'm not in the King's place now."
Faye spurred her horse on. They were now within calling range of Sedanado.

Re: Aid to Seanado
((Remer, I would appreciate it if you would stop portraying the men of Reagall like the classic blood-thirsty orcs in LOTR. They do not love Vephath, and would probably only cheer "For Reagall! For Jenko!" in their own mysterious language, evoking fear, and even more likely nothing at all and just yell! The Samurai, for instance, were very big on striking fear into the hearts of their enemies. Ergo they wore masks and such, yelling a lot in battle when charging, etc. When you have them yelling "Bring it down!" "Charge!" and stuff like that... I dunno, it just doesn't seem right. I know they would have to issue orders.... maybe instead in the future, when they issued orders, if you had them do it in their own tounge? (Ex: The easterling suddenly yelled out in the language of the east, and the men surged forward)))

Re: Aid to Seanado
Faye spurred her horse on and slowed to a fast trot once she was by the commander's side.
"Sir," she began, but the man held up his hand. He nodded his head toward the fortress.
"Do you see?"
Faye looked toward the fortress, and she saw no difference. "What?"
"The men upon the fortress, they are panicked. If my deduction is correct, the gate has been breached." He looked to her. "Ride west, find the host of 3,000, and rush them here. Tell them the gate has been breached and they must march with haste." He signalled to the rest of the riders, and they began to gallop.
Faye rode after the commander. "But I want to fight!"
"I have given you an order, Faye Harnen. This is merely an invasion, but I assure you, we are on the brink of war. Look beyond your own pride; we need those 3,000 as soon as possible. Ride west and ride fast!" With this, he turned and rode with the rest of the cavalry toward the fortress.
Faye cursed, then turned her mare toward the sun and sent the animal into the fasted gallop possible.
The commander and his cavalry reached the fortress, and they circled toward the gate. His expression grew grim as he saw the men of Reagall charging into the fortress. He called to his cavalry. "Strike not to kill, only to wound. Remember, this is not war, it is an invasion. Hiya!" With that he rode toward the gate, cutting down Easterlings as he went. His men followed suit.

Re: Aid to Seanado
((Actually, Lixiara, could I say this happened before he charged? Nothing against you, but the heavy cavalry don't have swords. *evil expression* they have lances, mwhahahahaha!))
The cavalry commander lined up his horsemen facing the eastern men. His expression was grim, and it seemed an eternity he waited for the right moment. And then, suddenly, he raised up his hand and gave the signal to charge, and 1,000 heavy cavalry stormed the fields, riding straight for Reagall's army. In one hand was a great lance, in the other a shield. Their horses were armored and the helmets of the men shone in the sun.
Their lances were still pointed upwards as they charged. The thundering of their hooves shook the ground. And then as they got closer, the lances were leveled and the cavalry gave a great yell of battle.
Bang! The cavalry slammed into the easterling ranks in a tremendous crash. The lances impaled the men on their tips and the horses trampled them into the dirt. In a matter of moments, the cavalry had cleared the Easterling ranks and were now on open ground on the other side. The heavy cavalry formed up, weeled around, and charged again....

Re: Aid to SeanadoBanished forces from the East
From the east, ranks of masked Calvary pulled up along the fields... Astaif turned to his men.
"This is the day! The day that the great fortress of Seanado will fall!" Astaif shouted to his mounted men!
"Astandi Lai! Men of the East!" Astaif drew his sword and his men followed suite... "Istlilu HANAI! For REAGALL!"
With that, 2,800 Calvary and 200 Mounted Archers charged down the Hill to the fortress.... With a loud crash, they hit hard on the riders of Belmore... They were very skilled with their weapons and broke through the ranks...

Re: Aid to Seanado
The heavy cavalry was caught off guard. Confused and out of formation after a second charge on the enemy infantry, they desperately tried to form up.
The Reagall cavalry slammed right into the disordered ranks. Mounted archers circled around the Belmore riders, loosing arrows with incredibly accuracy for a man.
Reagall infantry around the gate yelled and charged the losing cavalry of Belmore. Their incredible skill with a blade, and well designed and forged weapons, won them victory over the riders within minutes.
The field seemed to be a sea of red, with the rectangle banners of Reagall strapped to the backs of almost every soldier.
Now they surged through the open gate while the cavalry dismounted.
Katzimota leaped off his horse and drew his two blades, yelling as he charged in as well. Soon he was inside the fortress. One Belmore soldier charged him, and with two slashes he was cut down. Another came, and Katzimota knocked him accross the head and then slashed down at his legs. Two charged Katzimota. Swing his scimitar around to his right he cut down the first while he simultaineously jabbed his short scimitar into the neck of the other. Slashing down with both another man fell, and then he deflected a blow and sent two counter ones into another mans chest. Grabbing a Reagall spear from the ground, he spun it around his head, splicing two soldiers with the tip before he thrusted it into another Belmore soldier and drew his blades again.

Re: Aid to Seanado
He roded and roded and roded. Desperate to get to the fortress of Seanado. Not daring to look behind him, he just looked forward and roded. Then he could see the outline of great fortress-city but to his bewilderment, he could see a battle raging on outside Seanado. "The city...." He roded even faster and entered the city through the back gate. "I carry a message for the lord or general of this city." The guards led him to the general and the lord of the city. "Lord and general, i come from the city of Derotha. I am Culiven, Son of Reatha. I come bearing a message begging for aid to my beleagued city! The Dark Lord Vephath has launched a massive assault upon our city and they vastly outnumber us. We beg for any aid that you can give us....."

Re: Aid to Sedanado
(OOC: emhak, did you run that through with Nova? Cuz Derotha was in the process of sending 3,000 infantry to the aid of Sedanado. I was gonna make the post for it, but I didn't have enough time to do my usual elongated posts this morning. Anyways... here it is now... and just a note... it'd be silly if Derotha is sending to Sedanado for aid if Derotha already knew Sedanado was asking THEM for aid.)
Faye rode hard and fast as the red sun was setting in the west. The day had already long fallen into darkness when she reached the camp of the host of 3,000 men of Derotha. Her eyes searched the camp, and saw that there was a lone man upon a horse, shouting orders.
She rode through the camp towards the man. Some men parted before her, and others moved toward their commander in a defense formation.
"Hail, fair lady! Approach no more before you state whether you are friend or foe," the commander called to her.
"I'v been sent to ask you to proceed with all haste to the fortress of Sedanado," she burst out, "the gates of the fortress has been breached, and Easterlings are rushing into the fortress!"
The commander waved off his men, and allowed Faye to come close. "What is your message?"
"That is all. Sedanado need your 3,000, sir, and she needs them now!" She panted.
"Who has sent you?"
"The commander of Belmored's cavalry. The last I saw of him he was readying for a charge."
"How long ago?"
"I've been riding before the sun disappeared."
The commander cursed. Then he turned to his men. "Gather all men, leave the camps and the unnecessaries--we move out now!"
The sub-commanders scattered and rushed to their mounts, then they galloped off in all directions through the camp, shouting to their men. "Move, move, move!"
In moments, the men were gathered into a march, and the host was moving quickly. The commander rode up to Faye. "We will reach Sedanado before sunrise... think you the fortress will hold till then?"
