Hunt for Treasure
Berlen walked among the rocks that made up the Cragg mountains. His feet ached and his legs were cut, but he kept walking. Scaling one of the cliffs, he quickly reached the top of a ledge and tumbled over.

Berlen, a gruff man with a black beared, had left his hometown of Eerb to go, as usual, treasure hunting. These mountains were the only place he could think of that he hadn't searched over, and an old crazy man had given him a map which led him to these mountains, and to tresure. Well, like any sensible man, Berlen had immediately packed his bags and headed out. On his back was a heavy pack laden with food and equipment. Around his waist was his belt where a short sword and knife lay.

The gruff man stood on the ledge and looked up. Taking the pack of his bag, he knelt down and rummeged through it. Picking up a small bag, he removed a piece of bread and ate it. Now he took out a rolled up piece of paper and looked at it. His finger trailed a path on the parchment, on the map.

Suddenly, he heard a rock fall. Jerking his head to the sound, he quickly stuffed his belongings back into the pack, put it on his back and stood up. He peered into the distance, looking for whoever made the sound....

Hunt for Treasure
Isilwen walked surefootedly among the rocks, she had wanted to come to these mountains so bad- and now she was finally here.

As she strode, she looked far off over the beautiful peaks. Suddenly, she stopped, her sharp elven ears picking up something echoing from below. A man... heavily built man- was walking. She could tell from his steps he was tired. Gently kneeling to the cliff's end, she looked over the edge. She saw the man, but she knew he could not see her.

Isilwen gently scooted forward, and a small pebble went tumbling over the cliff, bouncing on every ledge it could find. Isilwen cringed at every hit, and she saw the man jerk his head up. Isilwen jumped back, avoiding his glance. He did not see her... or did he?

Re: Hunt for Treasure
Berlen peered over a rock he was hiding behind, scanning the cliff ledge. "Who's there!?" He called out. No one answered. Slowly Climbing down to another ledge, he stepped foward. "I said, who's there!? Come out n' show yerself! I'm armed you see!" He drew his sword from his belt and brandished it in front of him.

Okay, Okay
Isilwen stepped from the back of the ledge. She peeked over the edge and smiled. Covering the left side of her mouth, she said, "So I see." It made her voice sound like it was coming from far down the canyon, when she was just above the man.

She knew the man was scared to death, and wanted to see how far he would go.

Isilwen laughed to herself silently.

She leapt down onto the cliff he crouched on, and smiled.

"Isilwen Maegoven, pleasure to meet you..."

The men grinned and grunted, but then his expression faded into a frown. "And, whot might bring yu to these parts?" Berlen looked nervous, every so often looking around him as if to make sure none followed. "Just a... morning hike, aye?" He laughed a bit at this. And then a thought came to mind. "Hey, how would you like teh help me in a little... a little quest I'm in 'ere?"

Berlen grinned widly. "Excellent! Excellent!" He went forward to shake the lady's hand. "The name's Berlen. I come from the town o' Eerb looking for lost... for me lost grandfather's treasure. I got me a map here somewhere..." He put his pack down and started to rummage through it. Finally he found the map, a rolled up piece of old paper. "My grand daddy, he buried his fortune some o' where in these cliffs for his sons to find. Well, they never did find 'em, though me daddy tried. Now I'm hopin' I'll have better luck."

Isilwen laughed.

"It is a good thing you have a map, Berlen... for it would otherwise be hopeless. Though, dispite the crazy idea, I will help you."

She shook the man's hand, and smiled.

Re: Hunt for Treasure
Berlen grinned and nodded happily. "Come, the map isn't very precise in direction, but it says there should be a... a certain rock which will show us the way. Looks here like a rock carved like an eagle, look out for it, will ye?"

Re: Hunt for Treasure
Isilwen nodded. Her sharp elven eyes scanned the opposite side of the cliffs, and looked for the 'eagle'.

"Ah, there it is... on the cliff... just north of here." she pointed to the rock. It slightly resembled an eagle... Isilwen hoped it was what Berlen was looking for.

Re: Re: Hunt for Treasure
Berlen looked to his map then strained his eyes to see the eagle rock in the distance. The mist of the mountains almost hid it completely from view. His gaze went from the rock to the map several times before he exclaimed. "Yes, yes! That is it! Come on and let's go!" The man jumped down to a ledge below and started to run as fast as one could across such rocky terrain.

The Eagle
Isilwen followed the excited man, finding it quite humourous how excited and happy he was.

"So, Berlen; What is this eagle supposed to tell us?"

Re: The Eagle
Reaching the stone, Berlen leaned against it and turned to Isilwen. "Well, I don't rightly know! It was a marker... let me read the map here..." He pulled the map from his pack and looked it over, mumbling to himself. "Says here the eagle's head points to the next marker.... a mouth of night... a mouth of night!? What does that mean? Well, we'll follow the path said 'ere and see where it leads us!"

((Feel free to make up whatever you want. :D ))

Re: The Eagle
"The mouth of night...." she mumbled, and pondered this for awhile.

"No! Wait, Berlen. Does it say Knight or Night? Maybe a... a... helmet of a noble Knight?" she looked at the eagle confusedly, and looked to the direction it pointed; Straight back across the canyon from whnce she just had come.

"Let us go back. The eagle points to the other side."
