((I think I'll just make up the classes as I go..))
Ellienad smiled and nodded. "Yes, it was quite interesting. Trees are one of my favorite things to paint." She finished putting away her things, sliding her still-wet painting onto the shelf after one last, long look at it.
"I have band practice now. If you're free, you could come along and watch if you'd like."

Ellienad grinned. "Wonderful! It's in the Hall of Song." She led the way to a large, domed room where other students were already gathering. Chairs and music stands had been set up in rows, curved around a central point where the lead Elf sat. Ellienad pointed to a row of chairs seperate from the others, on the side of the room. "You can sit there if you'd like. We always have a few chairs ready for an audience. She winked and hurried to her seat, drawing a long recorder out of her bag. Then, she brought out several more of different sizes, all of beautifully carved wood. She looked at them sadly for a moment, then began tuning them. Unlike most of the band, who tuned theirs in C or G major, she tuned her instruments in the A minor.
When everyone was ready, the teacher held up a hand for attention. Almost instantaneously, the room went silent.
"Very good, class. Now, let's do "Fillieri" to warm up." He conducted it in a moderate 3/4 time. The drums came in first, a slow steady beat like the rising and setting of the sun. Then the stringed instruments, wind flowing swift and sure over the high suncatcher mountains. The wind brought in clouds of grey, and suddenly there was an eerie feeling of storm heaviness as the song switched to the Dorian mode. The clouds grew deeper and darker, rumbling with drumrolls of deep thunder. A single clash of lightning, and then it rained. Miriads of eighth notes in A minor. It was Ellienad, with her largest recorder. Pure, sorrowful notes flowed aroung the room and up to the heavens. On and on, an undulating stream of melody. It ran lower and lower, impossibly low and still the notes were liquid, ithidin bright. The stringed istruments rose in a climaxing wave, building, changing, turning to C major again. A splash of all the instruments smoothly onto C natural, and then they were fading, fading on C. Replaced by one last long high note on Av16 by Ellienad on her smallest recorder, and then fading out into darkness. There was silence in the Hall of Song.
