Additionally you seem to have overlooked the fact that it is currently succeeding in the Ionad Votala.

Re: DT2005-054 - Sensible Elections Amendment (6/3 proposal)
The purpose of my resignation (which someone deleted) is to free up time. The Dáil = the Citizens Council = the electorate. I made the case for the amendment once, and there was unanimous support. A few days later, that support was gone.

My intention is not to damage Talamthom. I would do more damage as an inactive Dáil member.

My hope is for Talamthom to help itself.

Who knows? Maybe, some day, you'll get the 75-100 citizens needed to make regional elections competitive.

Garine.

Re: DT2005-054 - Sensible Elections Amendment (6/3 proposal)
Alex, you were far from an inactive Dáil minister. To refresh your memory of what constitutes an 'inactive minister', I point to a handful of Talamthom's most spectacular examples: Mr Wilson*, Mr Portela and our own PM, Mr Prendergast.

In the absence of the Speaker, I take it upon myself to either accept or decline your resignation. I do not accept it yet. Will you not consider working within this organ, as well? Recall that the 6/3 proposal will, when it is finally pushed through, remove the Citizen's Council. At this point, you may find your seat here attractive once again... and we would certainly welcome your participation.

(* Yes, yes, I know.)

Count me out. If I come back to the Dáil, it will be in a nationalized list election this August.

If this is your final decision, I cannot make you stay of your own accord. Resignation accepted grudgingly.

James A Grieve,
President of the Republic

This has been passed by the Dáil and is awaiting the assent of the Citizens' Council before it is passed on to the President for signature, and, into the Statute Book.
