I was also wondering something about King's Dominion.
Is it required? I love King's Dominion but I'm going tomorrow with friends, and I might not really like going two times so close together.
I am expecting to have a lot of work to do (hopefully I'll be busy!), and if I wanted to stay behind to work instead, would that be allowed?
If not, oh well, I guess I'll have to go to a really fun amusement park. Sigh.
Re: Kings Dominion
I'm hoping the new roller coaster cuts down the lines for the others. It looks fun, and I'll ride it, but I'd be happy riding the volcano over and over again.
From the KD map I got online, it looks like they took out Outer Limits. Can anybody confirm or deny? I thought that was a good ride (once they fixed it and made it smoother), though the story line had gotten a bit old.

As TinaBoBina noted, it definitely appears to be non-operational. The thrill rides section of the Kings Dominion website fails to list it, and the Roller Coaster Database site lists it as SBNO (standing but not operational - meaning the structure is still there, but not open to the public). That's a bummer since it was one of the first magnetic launch coasters in the country (and KD is getting quite the reputation for being the home of coasters that use alternative launch methods).
Of course now that Cedar Fair (which operates the coaster-happy Cedar Point in northern Ohio) has purchased Kings Dominion, perhaps they'll work to re-invigorate Outer Limits and get it open to the public again.
Re: Kings Dominion
They took out Flight of Fear too, right? I haven't been in a while, but I remember riding that one and hypersonic and drop zone. I'm excited to ride like tomb raider and stuff....

I think that Outer Limits and the Flight of Fear is the same ride, so it is gone. I used to work at KD in summers when I was in college! Volcano is my fav ride there though. I am with you Sheryl, I would love to ride it over and over again, but I will have to admit, I packed my bathing suit just in case I am up for a little R&R by the wave pool! That was the best year when Danny, Amy and I just slept the entire day at the wave pool! I needed the rest!
Re: Kings Dominion
i just went to kings dominion about a month ago and tried the italian job coaster...its not scary but its fun (coming from someone who is freaked out by coasters)
two of my friends that went with me rly wanted to go on that flight of fear coaster and asked everyone if they knew where it was...finally someone pointed them to a fence and later they told me the ride got shipped to canada so i didnt rly believe them but i guess they were telling the truth after all...
i have never been to king's dominion, so im really excited about going. i live in virginia beach, so i'm way closer to busch gardens, but dang, it only has FOUR freaking rollercoasters. gets old FAST.

Re: Kings Dominion
I live in Yorktown and have a seasons pass to Busch Gardens, but I love it so much better than KD! I go a lot now with my neice and nephew though and so I spend a lot of time on the kid rides!
Kings Dominion is the DEVIL
OKay so i work there.
the flight of fear and outer limits are the same thing, it got mailed to canada.
italian job isn't that amazing...its okay i guess, its really short though, the line goes quick since its such a short ride.
i work in food & beverage...ack. happy days diner :>
its always soooper hott, and reminder, you have to wear clothes in the park, outsie of the water park. its m@d icky seeing people walking around practically naked... :/
i get in for free!
oh and now the volcano is closed now...incase you kids didn't hear. it like started rolling backwards or something like 2 people got injjured...dunno if it'll be open again by the time we go.
and warning to any guys who havent been there before..don't ride the tombraider firefall...its a bit painful if you catch my drift
Re: Kings Dominion is the DEVIL
KD day was one of the best days of gov school because you got complete freedom (while in the park, mind you) for the first time in about three weeks.
outside of being fun. that freedom was basically awesome.
Re: Kings Dominion is the DEVIL
True, the day is pretty much up to you how you spend it - lots of freedom. But I should point out that the basic rules of Governor's School still apply as are practical. Visiting friends who may just happen to be at the park that day is certainly allowed - we don't want you to be rude. But if we see you smoking, for example, we will send you home, or if we find you left the park, that would be like leaving campus without permission, also an immediate dismissal offense.
Gosh, I'm not trying to put a damper on this or anything - my director hat just needed to come out a bit Ooh, to end on a positive note, one rule that doesn't apply at KD is the button rule - we ask you have your button with you, but it isn't on or visible.
Re: Kings Dominion is the DEVIL
If anyone happens to have a cast or requires a wheelchair for any reason, you'll sure be popular, you get to jump the lines. My brother (Colin Agnew, Gov's School '03) had just had foot surgery like two weeks before we went with a bunch of friends, and we did all the coasters in the park twice ... it was awesome.
