help
hey guys...s omething really awful happened today. one of our birds is missing... we'd been having trouble keeping her away from this whole/gap in the ceiling where it meets the wall, and now we can't find her... it's been about 7 or 8 hours now, and not a sound... we've looked everywhere we can think of, in walls and downstairs and everything, and... nothing. so, if you get a chance, could you please pray for us? we don't want to lose her...she's too precious.

Re: help
I'm so glad to hear she's back.I didn't reply when I first read this, because it's rare for a bird who gets away to survive,so I kept my mouth shut.I was hoping for a good outcome, but didn't want any negativity to come through if I posted.
If you want to try to get some weight on her a little quicker(she's at risk for a lot of things the longer she's underweight),feed her babyfood,along with her normal diet.Most birds love babyfood fruits,which are easy to digest,and her weight will be back before you know it.

@shadeaux
believe me, l know how rare it is for a bird to come back... l lost my aunt's a couple years ago, and she never did come back. l can't tell you how happy we are though, that she did. anyway, thank you for the kind thoughts - they mean more than anyone could ever know. and dont worry, l dont think either of us mind that you didn't reply. its the thought that counts, quite literally sometiems. thank you. anyway, l just told sam what you said, and he thought it was a Very good idea..l think we're going to try it, lol. she's still quite underweight, so we need to do something.
@sugar mountain

Re: help
Usually the first couple of days after you find them are critical.If they make it past that, they usually come out ok.It's the dehydration that gets them,more than anything.The lowered weight makes them more prone to illness,at least until you can get it back on them.But it sounds to me like this one's gonna be just fine.And never forget that love counts for more than anything else.

Re: help
awww, guys...thanx. this means a lot to me.
we've been keeping a really close eye on her, and so far - it's been 3 weeks now, l think? - she's been doing really good. still really thin - we're plannin on getting her some baby food next week probably - but sh'es active...adn more than that, my oldest (or second oldest l guess) bird (my guy) is taking care of her...literally. more now than ever before we see him grooming her, and sometimes (l think) maybe even feeding her. it's really amazing to watch, actually... l knew l had some special birds, but this... this is beautiful.
anyway, thanx, guys. love you all.
and gaia, welcome back. missed you.

Food for thin birds
Hiya! I can tell you this, when I've helped with wild birds such as Crows (my pet crow is Vel-Crow, lol), we found that Purina Beneful, softened up with warm water helped to put some weight on them!
Vel-Crow was injured, when he and his sister fell out of the nest - he can't use his hands, but don't tell him that! He also suffered broken wings, and it took him 2 years to learn to fly. We only let him fly inside my friends' house, which is a huge Geodesic dome, and we launch him off the 2nd floor. Vel also likes to snuggle on my lap when I'm there, and he can speak people's names, which is creepy.
Funniest thing - my friends kept telling me they couldn't find their remote control, so I KNEW it was the crow, and kept watching him out of the corner of my eye - sure enough, he had to hunt for his treasure, and pull it out.
Then after they used it, and left, the darned thing - GET THIS - he grabbed the remote with his mouth, used his WINGS for some lift, and flew it across the floor, and dropped it into a plant pot!
I love birds, just shame they and cats don't always get along, lol.
I had a chance to play with a Bald Eagle, because of them, and other wonderful wild birds, along with Timber and Grey wolves.
Glad to hear your baby is okay, try the Beniful, a small bag - might help!
{{{hugs}}}
