is it possible to register new memberships? first off i want to say there's no chance of me moving my board to yuku. i tried it and it's not for me and the way i want to run my board. so i want to run it on ezboard for as long as i can. several people including myself have tried to register new accounts on ezboard on a variety of different email addresses and nobody recieves their activation mail. this goes for local and global accounts. is it even possible to create a new ezboard account? the yuku website appears in the place of ezboard at every chance it gets and yet yuku accounts don't work on ezboard. so is it possible to get new memberships on my board or am i stuck allowing non members to post to keep it working? thanks mog |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships? New accounts do register. I just registered a Local account at your board. You'll see it on your member list: r5@moggysdomain You can delete that from your member list, if you like. Users need to use this page to register Global accounts. The current problem seems to be that validation e-mails aren't going out or are extremely delayed. I've asked someone at Yuku to check on the ezboard mail server. If you have members who have registered but haven't received their validation e-mails, please have them open an Accounts ticket and someone will help them validate their ezboard account. They don't need to be logged into their ezboard account (or a Yuku account) to submit a ticket. Do you mind if I ask what it is about Yuku that doesn't work for "the way i want to run my board"? Yuku generally offers you more options, so sometimes it's just a matter of not quite understanding the difference between ezboard and Yuku feature functionality. |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships? yeah thats the same page i tried using. i had to click the local signup page first to get a link to that page though because the main link to global signup sent me to yuku. thanks for asking them to check the mail server. i was worried ezboard might not be taking more accounts because of the switch over to yuku but couldn't find anything on the net about the problem i'm having. thing is i'm using the forum for one thing at the moment before i use it as my community board again afterwards. the people who would be using it at the moment probably won't go as far as posting that ticket because they're lazy and getting them to use the board in the first place is hard work. with yuku creating the look is more about css etc which isn't a problem, i just need to work on changing things to match the old look and to tie it in with my site. what i don't like is only being able to run javascript from the yuku library and having the login and control panel at the top of the window. it would be nice to have a choice of say classic ezboard style and yuku style or being able to include the login bar inside a table etc further down. i'm currently trying to create a new site which is closely linked to the ezboard and the yuku bar could look a bit daft with some of the changes i might make. |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships?Quote: The purpose of that is to give users the best possible protection from those admins who use malicious scripts. It has been a problem over and over again, at ezboard, so at Yuku they took drastic measures to prevent it. Quote: I've seen the navigation bar hidden and it looks pretty good, but you do need to put the links that normally appear there elsewhere on your board's directory (main) page so your members can log in, reset their password, access their account dashboard, go directly to their Inbox, images, etc. Those could go in a sidebar, tabs, or some other location. You could link to a Yuku page that does have navigation links, but that takes users away from your board, and you don't want to do that. Check at the Skins & CSS board for more details. They really will try to make it as easy for you as possible. :) As far as validations are concerned, the developer wasn't able to see a problem so I need to go do some more testing.... |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships? i suppose i see where thats coming from in a way. is it possible to submit scripts to be authorised by yuku or anything like that? i'll have a little read up on what i need for the navigation bar and cool to hear there is a way around it. all being well i may well move to yuku sometime soon. |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships?Quote: eh... yes and no. The library contains many scripts that were requested by users. You can submit a script, but the script guy who was in charge of checking them for errors or security problems, then adding them to the library, left Yuku a few weeks ago and hasn't yet been replaced. You can request a script here, but that doesn't (never did) guarantee it will be added and I have no time line for how soon it may be added. I do understand that the script is important to you, but, to the Yuku developers, I think add-ons are not a priority at the moment. A Yuku board that's had the navigation bar removed came to mind. I don't think the owner would mind if I post it so you can take a look: politicsandnews.yuku.com/ He hasn't added login or other links, though, so that can sometimes be a bit problematic, especially for members who are new to Yuku and don't have a clue about where to sign up, log in, etc. |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships? The e-mail server problem is fixed. If your members still don't receive their validation e-mails, please have them check this FAQ topic, add the addresses listed there to their e-mail account's contacts list, then try resending their validation e-mail, requesting their password again, or whatever. If they still need help, a Helpdesk ticket is their best bet. |

Re: is it possible to register new memberships? Remember that, if you get your skin set up the way you want it on your test board, you can export it to your hard drive, then import it to your "real" board when the time comes. Anything you add to Global HTML will have to be copy/pasted, though. You're welcome and good luck with your design. :) |
