kitty question
a few weeks ago my daughters and I rescued alittle orage cat from the road , Maple as we now call her at the time was roughly 6 weeks old , we took her to the vet because she was ill, they said she had an upper respiratory infection , gave us the antibiotics, well we did that and she is now active and playful, eats and can meow again but she still sounds rspy thru her nose, any suggestions should I call the vet back or try anything or is it possible she has scar tissue? any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: kitty question
Respiratory infections are a pain to get rid of.If you have no other cats in the house,I would say try to wait it out.Her condition will improve, but it takes a long time.As long as her eyes aren't affected,a little nasal stuffiness is probably more of a nuisance to her than anything. But,if she gets worse,or her eyes begin to look puffy,or start running, she will definitely need to go back to the vet.We had a cat once that lost the sight in one eye completely, because of a respiratory infection.
To help ease the stuffiness, you could try taking her in the bathroom and running hot water,to steam the room up.The steam will help loosen up the mucous, and she'll probably sneeze a lot of it out.
Good luck with her,and blessings to you for helping her out.A lot of people wouldn't bother with a "sick"animal, and would have left her to die,or called the SPCA.

Re: kitty question
I do have other cats, I have been running a vaporizer and using tiny bits of salt water for her nose, she is growing and acting fine, her eyes are clear so hopelly it is still some nasal stuffiness as you said, she is a sweetie I am so glad we picked her up.

Re: kitty question
You are a good woman, ladifaire, as well as your kids, for taking this little one in. I agree with shadeaux but want to add one more thing: maybe she has some dried mucous in her nose which won't come out which is causing the raspy sound. do you have one of those baby things that uses suction to remove crap like that? can't think what they are called, but the only ones I have EVER seen have been blue with a round ball for squeezing and a pointy end to place in the baby's nose. just have to be real gentle with it on a kitten.
