net access Can anyone help? We're shortly moving onto a narrowboat to live, on a mooring with no phone hook-up. Can I check e-mails best by using a mobile phone or would i be better to get full net access via a mobile phone and what tarriffs are best etc? |

net access
I have been using GPRS recently through my mobile. It gives speeds close to BT phone line speed (42kbps) and you are charged by the megabyte not minute. Normal mobile conections run at 9.6kbps so this is a big improvement.
You can be on line as long as you wish (battery permtting) as you're charged for what you view. Orange are charging £3 per MB or less if you pay for other plans. If you switch off pictures and sound in internet explorer, you'll get many pages and emails for one megabyte. Ashley |
