performing arts music...
Hey, I'm going to governor's school for the orchestra, and I know this is a really random question but I was wondering how big the orchestra is this year.
If memory serves, there are 55 instrumental students this year. I could, of course, be completely making that up. (Well, not completely as it is an educated guess if nothing else knowing that each instrumental studio has between 15-20 students and there are 3 studios this year.)

So there are 3 orchestras?
Is one strings and another band or something?
Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious to know what kind of class I'll be in...
Thank you!
Re: pertaining to music...
We don't really have an orchestra - we do ensemble work and chamber music. There will be a quartets and quintets, there will be all brass groups, woodwinds and brass, strings and woodwinds, piano and strings - whatever the music faculty finds that matches the instrumentation we have this year.
Re: pertaining to music...
As Sheryl said, there isn't an "orchestra" per se...this experience is different from the typical HS orchestra. We will doing orchestra literature, but we will spend a lot of time in ensembles. I have a lot of fun music in mind.
Please bring along pieces that you would like to play...just remember that we won't have time to do them all!!!! We will do as much as we can!

Hey, I had a question about the performing arts this summer.
I noticed you said that there were going to be 55 instrumentalists, overall. I was curious if there is possibly another bassoon player other than myself? I know that bassoons aren't all that common, and 55 being a small number for ALL the instruments. But, I was just curious.
