riding without a leg on
i am a prosthetist in england. one of my paitents is has a vary short AK. she was a very accomplished rider before her amputation and is keen to get back on to it. the has tried riding with a leg on but finds it flaps around and is cumbersome. she has taken to riding without the leg on but feels unsuprisingly a little unsafe. i had thought of making a corset type device that attaches to teh saddle where the stirups attach.

have u got anny suggestions or tips??

Re: riding without a leg on
Please check out this website. The lady is an accomplished Paralympian dressage rider and has had her saddle adapted with 'pockets' that her stumps are in while riding.

Be careful with any kind of adaptation that fastens the rider to the horse. In case of emergency, it's usually better to get off/away from the horse than to be connected. I think the pockets help this woman balance and give security, but she would be able to slide out of them if needed.

She's very nice and will probably answer any questions you have via email.

Hope that helps!
