Why go out and pay throught he nose,when you can make your own at home much cheaper.And you can vary them to suit your mood.
All you need is a blender and a few of the following basics;
plain yogurt,
frozen fruits of your choice
soy milk,or some type of single juice(dont use blends like tropicana twisters,the flavor is too strong)
a fresh fruit or two,like banana,mango,something soft
for banana/strawberry;
put 1/2 cup of juice(orange or pineapple works well for this one)1 cup of yogurt,1/2 cup of frozen strawberries,and a whole peeled banana in the blender,and liquify.
one of my faves,that dont have a name:
1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries,or frozen strawberries
1/2 cup of yogurt
1/2 cup of soy milk
1/2 cup of peaches(either frozen or fresh)
1 TBSP rice protein powder
This one I actually substitute for a meal,and have lost 10 pounds in the last month.
Feel free to experiment with whatever you want to throw in.This is one hell of a way to get at least two fruit servings,one dairy serving and one or two protein servings(if you use protein powder and soy milk)in a glass.It isnt exactly low-calorie,but it has less calories than most lunch items.
Smoothies can also be made ahead of time,and taken to work,as long you have them in a cup with a tight fitting lid,and can keep them refrigerated.Just stir before you drink it,and it will taste just as fresh as if it were just made.
*tip* Buy frozen fruits whenever they go on sale,and you'll cut the price way down.I usually get mine when I see a buy one get one free offer.
*tip* During the Summer,make a large batch and freeze them(maybe on sticks),and eat em like popsickles.Good way to get something healthy into your kids,disguised as junk food.
