too many disturbing dreams
hey shadeaux

for the last several weeks - probably four or five now - l've been having a lot of dreams, sometimes several a night, right after the other... sometimes within a few hours. l can remember a couple nights l woke up after each one, feeling totally disturbed, completely reluctant to go back to sleep, but it's not like l had a choice, either. problem is, l dont wake up from bad dreams till they're over, or something startles me... and apparently l dont show any signs that l'm having a dream, so l can't ask anyone to wake me up, either. now, l've got a dream catcher hanging in my room, but l can't really say that it's helped... l dont know what's causing the dreams, but the nature of them's generally the same, at least to some extent - they're focused on death, or something negative, though some of the milder ones were simply things like doing a presentation in class...
but dammit, the one l had this morning was probably the worst - or one of them - yet... and l've been waking up from some of them with a really bad feeling of dread (maybe not quite that bad, but somethings bothering me, and it's not the dreams.. or it's not the dreams themeselves. l dont know how to explain it.. just a general all around feeling that somethings' wrong.
the other weird thing is, before these dreams, l didn't really have dreams at all, or at leats not this many... l mean, five dreams a night? that l can remember almost perfectly clearly? they're all short, but... they bother me.
l know this doesn't make a lot of sense, but.. this is getting ridiculous, ya know? l'm not really having a lot of trouble sleeping, but.. l want to go back to what was normal. for me.... before this l didn't HAVE nightmares. or very rarely, and they didn't really bother me when l did... is it just my time to start having dreams, a way of fate paying me for getting off so easily?
sam seems to think they're not that big a deal, and in a way l know it's true, but they're bothering me. l mean, l wake up almost every morning remembering the most recent dream, or several (each NIGHT, not just the last several nights' dreams) and feel like somethings wrong... am l going crazy?
laurie...
ugh. at least l got to vent... hope l didnt' bore ya shadeaux, if ya read this.

Re: too many disturbing dreams
Yeah, dreams sometimes have the effect of making us feel like we must be nuts,to be dreaming some of the things we do.But,it's all for a reason.I kind of have a theory that the biggest reason we have nightmares,is because our subconscious mind wants to make damn sure we remember what we dreamed. We wouldn't necessarily pay much attention to a dream about light breezes, and butterflies, but we would for sure remember dragons chasing us,and storms blowing.Death is a perfect example. We mostly fear death,so to dream of it is frightening. However,as a dream symbol, death just means a change is coming,or has come. It's a transition to something new.I dreamed of my own death shortly before I got married. In my dream,I died in Ralphs arms. This was one of the things that got me interested in dreams,by the way, trying to find out what it meant to die in someones arms,in a dream.Turns out,I was simply dreaming of my upcoming marriage.
Try keeping a journal of your dreams.Write them down as soon after waking as you can,and try to remember every detail that you can, from colors,to the season,to the general feeling you have IN the dream, along with what happens in it,of course. If you want me to help interpret them, just let me know, and I'll do what I can.You may find that you see the meanings coming to you, just by writing the dreams out.
I hope this helps a little,and no,you are definitely not going crazy.If you are,then we're all in deep doo-doo.

Re: too many disturbing dreams
lol... l agree with ya there.
um, l'll give that a try, and see how it goes... it's hard to remember them soemtimes, cus an hour or two after l wake up l'll have a stray thought, thinking of something, and realize it was actually a dream... and usually when that happens, l didn't even realize l'd dreamt or remebered anything till then. lol....
luckily l didn't have any dreams that l remmeber last night, so it's all good... lol maybe it's sleeping without sam that does it. hehe.

Re: too many disturbing dreams
ugh.
l had another couple dreams last night l think, but the only one lc an remmeber is this:
it started out when l went into the hospital to get stitches in my back (l dont k now why, only that they reallly hurt cus l can remember crying, n stuff, n sam wasn't there), but then after a few minutes of that it switched to the nurses telling me something kinda bad: somehow, they'd found out (w/o doing any tests) that l was pregnant.... of course, this was a very bad thing, and l ended up crying and everything.... anyway, l can remember trying to figure out how to tell sam about it and everything, but other than that, that's about it...
the only explanation l can think of was that my period was late, but anyway... l dunno, cus that's fairly normal for me (l'm irregular).... um yeah.
laurie.
